CCM 103 Monochromatic Purple

Our challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers is Monochromatic Purple. So your creation should be completely in shades of purple (with white also allowed) or mostly purple with allowances for skin and hair on images.

We are sponsored by Hobby Art Stamps  with two gorgeous prizes of stamps, please see the Crafty Cardmakers blog for pictures, and also by DI'S DIGISTAMPS

I had this old peanut tin sitting in my kitchen in a cupboard since last Christmas! I knew it would come in handy eventually!

SAM_9174

Very tasty they were too, as you can see I shopped cheaply and bought them in the reduced aisle! LOL

Anyhow I decided to cover them with the Craftwork Cards Time Flies paper pad, there are two out the original one, which is vintage creams and shades of purple and sorbet which is in pinks. I went for the original for this one. But obviously the papers had a lot of cream in, all the plain areas without elements on was a sort of cream colour. So I used the Ripe Persimmon and Shaded Lilac DIs from Tim Holtz to colour them.

Look, one of my Inkylicious Dusters gave up it’s life for the cause!! Poor duster!

SAM_9175  SAM_9177

I have to tell you those pesky little bristles went everywhere and stuck to that blending sheet like mad. Boy was I in a purple mess when I finished clearing up.

Anyhow this is what I ended up with

The top picture on this post is the angle I am looking at it from, and then as it goes round these are the next pics.

I stuck the paper down with watered down pva, and the butterlies I also coloured to match, they were sprayed with Crafters Companion sparkle spray in irridescent. It a) gave them some sparkle and also stiffened them up a little.

The top dangly beads were in my stash but I went over the top of that again with a purple glitter ribbon, the lace ribbon at the bottom was also from my stash.

I have no idea what’s going in here, pens probably.

Lexi 102 Birthday Celebrations

Good morning bloggers. A day late with this one, sorry if anyone has tried to locate this from Lexi’s Creations. Anyhow our challenge this time around is Birthday Celebrations.

We are sponsored by Fairy Dust Crafts with 5 of their lovely digital images.

Lexi 102 I have used a lovely digital image from Delicious Doodles via the Stitchy Bear website. She is called Fae. I coloured her with a combination of copics and promarkers, and also used some sakura sparkle pens to highlight areas, which will be obvious in the pics below this one.

Lexi 102 Image

The highlighting is looking white, but in fact I used pink in her hair, and clear on the butterflies, and eyes, but they all look sort of gold in the pic. I find those pens don’t really show up face on and you have to tilt the card to see them. Sometimes I wonder why I bother adding them because if the recipient doesn’t happen to tilt them or display them in the light in the right way they won’t see them either!!

Anyhow the papers are from the lush Vintage Boho pad from Craftwork Cards, and the Butterfly and Sentiment comes from the Craftworks Cards Time Flies Sorbet collection. The butterfly wasn’t really the right colour for the image so I used the same colour copic I had coloured some parts of the butterfly in the image with and coloured it to match.Lexi 102 Angle

I have tried to show the sentiment and how I curled it to look like a real banner waving in the breeze. The diecut is spellbinders and the little glass gems and gems on the butterfly’s spine and it’s trail were in my stash.

Dream Valley 68 Hallowe’en

It’s that time of year folks, so our challenge at Dream Valley is Hallowe’en.

We are sponsored by Di’s Digistamps with a $10 voucher for their fabulous store.

I made my card to go with the trick or treat bag I blogged earlier. I didn’t want it too scarey as little Lilly is not yet two!

The image is from The Paper Shelter and is called ‘I may have exaggerated a bit’. Paper Shelter always provide ready coloured images with their digi downloads and most often they also have a small background scene ready prepared too. They are perfect for those cards in a hurry or when you haven’t got full access to your craft space and can’t get at your pens! Always a mess Chez Witch!

DV 68 Halloween

So I used the ready coloured image for my card, but I did put some shading around the outside of her…. A little too heavy handed on the left hand side as I wanted to indicate shadow but went a little too dark. Still I am sure Lilly won’t mind!

I made up a silly rhyme, Hallowe’en themed, like a spell, as she looks puzzled and her cat is clearly up there in her huge hair, along with a potion bottle and her besom! Clearly she is one unorganised Witch!

I picked out the colour for the text by grabbing it off the image and it was all printed as one. The green matting layer is Bazill and the little charm and ribbon are from my stash.

ABC X for Xtra Special

We are sponsored at ABC this time by Bunny Zoe with a £10 gift certificate for her store, and also by The Paper Shelter with some of their fabulous digital images, one of which I have used on my card this time.

Our theme is Xtra Special, so we’d like to see creations made for those special occasions in our life. (eg. Wedding, New Baby, Birthday, Engagement, etc), and I have gone for a new baby card.

SAM_9141

My image called Enchanted Dream was coloured with my copics and promarkers. I am annoyed at my spots on the mushroom. I accidentally coloured them in with a dark red! I meant them to be white. I used a white pigment ink pen and when I first went over them they were a lovely bright white, but the pigment ink must have sucked up the red beneath it…… NOTE to self, don’t use white ink over a very very dark colour, in fact don’t make the mistake in the first place.

My background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs, and the fancy mat and background mat are cut from some gorgeous touchy feely velvet effect paper from K & Co, which has been sitting in my stash for even longer than the besom on my earlier card! Another NOTE to self, stop hording and start using!

Because the lavender paper is SO lush and because I didn’t want to just waste it behind the background paper I cut the die cut from the centre of it before sticking it all down. A sentiment created on my pc, and some frantage finished it off.

Lexi’s Creations 101 Halloween

We’re fast approaching the end of the month and that means all those Hallowe’en creations are appearing and we at Lexi’s Creations have chosen that as our theme this time.

We are sponsored by the wonderful Joanna Sheen with a £10 voucher for her online store, which is stuffed full of oodles of goodies, and what’s even better, no postage over £9!

For my Hallowe’en project I decided to make a bag for my Daughter’s gorgeous Goddaughter the lovely LillyBee who is also my surrogate Granddaughter. I don’t think little Lilly is old enough to go trick or treating yet so she will be getting the little gift bag full of treats, some naughty (sweeties) and some nice (fruit).

Lexi 101 Halloween

A LOT of masking went on with this card. Firstly the So Spooky Tilda and the pumpkin, which I coloured in with my prismas as I had been having a clear out and my alcohol pens were all tucked away out of reach, and then I inked all around her. Have to say don’t get those prismas out often enough. I had forgotten how much I love colouring with them. So many colour mediums, so little time and only one pair of hands!

When I had finished I cut it out with a spellie die, but it looked sort of empty and I decided I needed something more behind her to balance the image so out came my Elusive Image Hallowe’en stamps and i masked Tilda off and stamped the tree it looks as if it’s in the background. By that time, unfortunately I had inked all round the Tilda/pumpkin image and there was no place for the moon. So I just stamped the moon a second time and cut it out and stuck it over the purple one that was already there. I was quite pleased how it turned out as I obviously had to do a degree of guesswork where Tilda’s hat was sitting over it!

The image was sitting in the centre of a large diecut originally, but there was just enough space around to get it all cut into a smaller size without chopping off any image.

The background paper was a plain black and white freebie from Bearly Mine Designs, thank you Donna! I printed it onto 160 gsm paper and inked over it to match the colours, I hope, used in the image.

The cute little besom has been in my stash for years. I think I got it at HobbyCraft!

The cats, spooky tree and pumpkin embellishments were stamped onto shrink plastic, and then coloured, cut and shrunk.

I hope Lilly will enjoy her gift.

Dream Valley 67 Buttons

The challenge over at Dream Valley today is Buttons. We are sponsored by Freckled Fawn with a fabulous $20 voucher for their store.

For my card I followed a sketch from Crafting Life’s Pieces CLP-63 and an image from MayzArt called Looks Like Rain Xandra, although to my mind she looks more like she is keeping the sun off of herself with a parasol.

DV 67 Buttons

Because I am still not 100% straight in my craft space and because I have a set of Limited Edition Promarkers to amalgamate into my current set of pens I haven’t set my alcohol pens back up, so I coloured Xandra in with my prismacolor pencils and OMS. Her outfit is all shades of green and her hair is reds. The papers are from a paper pad by Raspberry Road that came free with Quick Cards Made Easy. I forgot to choose my paper before colouring so I was lucky that this set of papers went so well with the colours I had already used! There was one issue though, the basis of this pad is cream, it’s the underlying colour, and the white mat I had printed Xandra onto stood out like a sore thumb. I tried shading around it with DIs but it still didn’t look right so in the end I cut it out. Problem solved, lol I edged my card and background mat with Tattered Rose DI.

Image

The diecuts are both cut from some lush red metallic paper, as are the three little buttons. One mistake with colouring first and gathering supplies later was that I didn’t have the right colour buttons, but luckily I do have some button dies, so I just made my own! Ribbon and roses are from my stash, as is the small bow.

Lothian Crafts–2 A Sketch

For our challenge this month at Lothian Crafts we have a sketch for you to follow. As usual you can rotate the sketch if you like, as I have done. I moved it one turn to the right.

The prize on offer is a lovely Marianne Die of a tree

Lothian 2 Main

This is the sketch I followed

Lothian and here is the die on offer

For my card I used some lovely paper I have had from K&Co for a few years now, and chopped it down to 82 square. The image is a Crafters Companion SWALK stamp, coloured with promarkers. The black mat is a spellbinders die, but the rest of the diecuts are all from Marianne dies.

The large silver mat is called Marianne Square Frames LR0234, the snowflakes are from the Marianne Collectables Winter Village range COL1330 and the tree is one of my favourite tree dies LR0136. All of these are usually available, at a really good price from Lothian Crafts Online.

Vertical peel off has been in my stash for a very long time!

CCM 101 Cute and Furry

Well here I am back again, and I bet you didn’t even miss me.

I have had a nightmare couple of weeks. First my pc died, and with it the internet. Thanks for one of my team at CCM we managed to get our 100th post online. Then I have been playing musical chairs with my craft stash. I think I am sorted now though, so onto our latest challenge at CCM Cute and Furry. Basically it’s how it sounds, if it’s cute and it’s furry we would love to see it in our challenge.

We are sponsored by Di’s Digistamps with a $10 gift voucher and The Stampman with a £10 voucher. Two fabulous prizes, either of which would be very welcome in my email box!

Cute and Furry

So my cute and furry creation comes from a Crafters Companion CDRom called Party Paws. Isn’t he just the cutest panda!

I printed the image directly onto watercolour card. It was a bit of a struggle as my printer didn’t really like the weight of the card, but with some not too gentle persuasion I managed to get it to go through.

The little footprints were stamped with versamark and chalked over and I did the same around the outer edge of the card.  Sentiment was created on my pc and printed at the same time as the image, and I added some soft pink card underneath the corner punch. The flower was printed twice and decoupaged with a black gem for the centre.

PS It’s not my printing that’s blurred by the way, it’s my photography, and there was me thinking it was cos my glasses were in need of a good clean, but nope, cleaned them and it’s still blurred, sorry!
