Better vs BEST
Once upon a time, there was a girl name HepHep. She was a girl with sweet tooth. She love most of the candies in this world, but her favorite candy was GUMMIES!! Everyday without fail she’ll put her gummies in her bag and bring it along with her wherever she goes. She got so addicted to the gummies that nothing can really separate her with her gummies. Gummies was all she wanted; even the image of God in her mind was forgotten.
One day, the Lord whom loves Hephep very much wants to challenge her to give Him all the gummies she had in exchange for something better. This first thing that Hephep told the Lord was, “God don’t steal all my gummies! I know you wanted to take it away from me all these while!”. However, Hephep misunderstood what the Lord was trying to do. She only looks on the surface of things and not looking deeper into it.
What the Lord wanted to do was to take the gummies from Hephep and transform and modify the gummies into gummies that are going to be tastier than before. The Lord was testing on whether Hephep trust and obey Him enough to hand Him all the gummies for Him to take care and do His work on it. But in this case, we can see that Hephep did not have the trust in the Lord or even want to obey the Lord.
Hephep continue to eat the gummies that she always bring along with her, but one day she got very sick eating those gummies and sickness starts to come upon her. She kept coughing and the phlegm is always stuck on her throat. She complains to the Lord and starting to blame the Lord for not listening to her cries, but the thing is that the Lord is always listening to her and feeling how she feels.
The Lord prompted Hephep to hand over the gummies to Him many times, but Hephep refused as she kept thinking that the Lord wants to steal her gummies away from her.
As time went by, Hephep fell very sick to the extend that she told the Lord,” God I surrender to you, if you want to take these gummies, take it then. All I want now is to get well and to learn to trust that you’ll give me the best gummies in time to come. I’ll learn to obey you too.” For the first time, Hephep took steps of faith and entrusted this desire of hers to the Lord.
It was indeed not easy for a person like Hephep who has sweet tooth to give up her gummies and give it up to God. However, the Lord did not shortchange her for what she has obeyed and surrendered to Him.
As years went by, at the right timing God bless Hephep with the BEST GUMMIES she can ever find. This gummies are cover with 2 layers of chewy candy and some other special flavorings God has added in. This time even though she has her gummies, God wasn’t forgotten and many other blessings were added into her life due to her obedience and trust she has in God.
Haha, I came out with this thinking today as I was on the way to school on the bus. I was trying to link the problems I am having in my personal life to my favorite candy which is the gummies and I came out with this analogy. It really helps me to change my perspective towards how God works in our lives. God never want to steal the things in our life, but He just want to give us the BEST. However many times we misunderstood the Lord for the great plans He has in stored for our lives. We always want to go for the better rather then the best, as the better is easier to get and we can get it faster but as for the best it takes a longer time and we got to be patient and wait on the Lord to give at His timing. :)
Just want to encourage you all to take time to link this story that I’ve created to your life and see if there is any areas that you have learn to give it up to God. Hope you all enjoyed the story as well. TC all!

I like the saying of John C. Maxwell
"When it comes to self-discipline, people choose one of the two things: Either they choose the pain of discipline, which comes from sacrifice & growth, or they choose the pain of regret, which comes from taking the easy road & missing opportunities"
There are always 2 choices that we have to make everyday. I've been asking myself this question, “Which one would you take, Hephzibah?”. The pain of discipline really comes once you choose to do what is right in God's eyes. You'll feel uncomfortable and want to do what FEELS right rather than what SHOULD be right. I struggled a lot with what I want rather than what is right, which is God’s best for me.
It has always been something God is testing me everyday. Sometimes I really feel like telling God, “Can you stop testing me on this and move on to mould me in other areas?” I just want to run away from this area of my life, but I guess God will never give up moulding this area of my life until I really pass it and overcome it with flying colours. One thing about God is that, He will not stop testing you on that particular area until you’ve truly passed it!
What do I mean by truly passing the test? It is when you overcome it with God’s help and you are consistent with what you have overcome/change. You don’t just overcome and change only on that day and the next day or a few days after that you fall back into that same thing.
I’ve got to admit that it isn’t easy, I’ve experience it myself before. To really truly pass the test it really takes a lot of effort to always stick close to God and asking Him to guard your heart at all times. You’ve got to be close to God if you want to have that kind of life that God wants to give us. There may be many circumstances in our lives but God promise His presence and help to be always there for us. Who says the walk with God is easy? No, it is never going to be easy but we are never alone in this race.
As I typed out all these, I feel as if I’m rebuking myself and reminding myself. This may sound very silly though. LOL. I just pray that God will bring me through all these; temptations always come & rob me away all the time. How I hate all these temptations!! All I need is to focus on God everyday and be reminded of that everyday. If anyone could help me in this, I’ll be thankful for it.
