Dip dye flowers

I am big on natural things. I promise I'm not the sort who would nilly willy add coloring to my food or things in general. But the test tube vase I put together recently has proven to be my undoing; they have been beckoning me to do something scientific all week. And all I could think of was this bit of science from primary school.
I cut some white daisies from the garden, popping them into the test tube vase. Then I filled each test tube with water and added a teaspoon of food colouring to each tube and kept my fingers crossed. They worked! In as little as 3 hours.
3 hours later
8 hours later, I removed the flowers from the dye. I honestly don't mind the coloured tips -they are quite pretty. I just may have do further experiments with this. All in the name of science, of course.
8 hours later
Do you remember this science project from primary school too?

OMG Trishie!!! haha this is amazing - did you know they were going to do that? Maybe I just didn't pay enough attention in Science class but I never would have thought to have done something like this, but also, never would have expected such a perfect and pretty result. Love the idea (I wish you had an etsy store and sold those test tube wooden block vase things..so technical haha)I just reallyyy love it.

No, we didn't do this one Trishie. But remember the TV ad with the chalk and blue dye, Colgate Toothpaste? We asked our Science Teacher if we could do that and it worked! Your dye flowers are prettier though.
