Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween guys!! This is probably my favourite holiday because I love all things gory and scary. It seemed appropriate to share a photo with a clown, because NOTHING is scarier than a clown.

Tonight I am going on a ghost walk of Exeter with some great friends, followed by a couple of BLOODY mary's and then a fright night of films back at my house with homemade soup and munchies. I cannot wait to get out and enjoy the halloween fun later.

There's also a Zombie walk through Exeter this evening so I'm hoping to get a few snaps of that.

Hope you all have a great day/night.

Haldon

Yesterday a couple of us headed up to Haldon Forest for a long walk with the dogs. On a rare day that we were all free (my bro and his girlfriend weren't working), we finally got out for some fresh air together. I was hoping for a lot of copper trees, we didn't find many and there may not have been any sunshine but it was great to get out and explore. It was a pretty great end to my week off from work. No more breaks now until Christmas, sigh!

I'm looking forward to another long walk this weekend, weather permitting.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Monthly Thrift | September

I just realised we're almost at the end of October and I haven't shared last months thrifty finds with you yet... I didn't find a lot in September but what I did find was pretty awesome...

This floral vintage M&S skirt was £2.99 | Force...

These records ranged from 50p - £1 | boot sale...

I'm still collecting Readers Digest books, this one was 20p and the stainless steel fork was £1 | boot sale...

Not so thrifty but I've regretted selling my Megadrive ever since I got rid of it and I was chuffed to bits to pick this bundle up from a local independent game shop in Exeter for £25 | Critical Mass

I picked up these chairs for £4, they're my new allotment chairs for when I need a tea break from all the digging | boot sale

I didn't buy these but a seller at the boot sale had a bunch of old Roberts radios, I'm regretting not getting one now...

Hopefully October's finds will come earlier in the month next time!!

The Best of Autumn via Pinterest | Fashion Edit

I mentioned here about how much I've been loving the photos of autumn on Pinterest, so this time I thought I'd share a couple of my favourite outfits that I've stumbled across, including a couple of 90s grunge inspired looks. Oh the nostalgia.

I'm still trying not to buy many clothes other than winter staples (tights, knitwear etc) while I'm trying to lose weight. It's hard with SO many lovely clothes around.

The Best of Autumn via Pinterest | Nature Edit

Autumn you are amazing!! You even make walking to and from work enjoyable with all your colours. I've spent a bit too much time on Pinterest, admiring all the photos of autumn/fall that have been uploaded and making a board just for them, so I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you.

Note to self: must visit New England in the Fall, it looks AMAZING!!

National Trust | Killerton

While hunting for toadstools last week, Rich and I went to Killerton House and Gardens, a National Trust house close to where I used to live. I mentioned here that I have fond memories of mushroom hunting with my Dad as a child, so in my head it would be full of mushrooms and toadstools to photograph. Well it wasn't, but the trees were turning pretty awesome and there was a cool display of poppies at the chapel.

One of the perks of house sitting for my Dad also means we can use his National Trust membership and dodge the £9 entry fee, which you can avoid by walking around the woodland rather than visiting the house and gardens, obviously donations are always welcome.

The flooring and stained glass windows in the Chapel were amazing. My love for churches starts and ends with the architecture and design, it blows my mind.

Mushrooms & Toadstools

It's the most wonderful time of the year... no not Christmas, but Autumn! I LOVE Autumn. It's by the far the most beautiful season, full of colour and lovely smells, the weather is cooling, chunky knits are coming out, it's just great.

You can't argue with the fact that nature is at its best this time of year. I used to love this time of year growing up because my Dad and I would go mushroom picking at Killerton every year, which was odd because I really hate to eat them, but something about that smell was lovely. So this weekend Rich and I went on the hunt for toadstools, specifically Amanita Muscaria because they look so magical. Well I didn't find a single one but I did find all these beauties...

The best way to find them was to follow my nose, which was pretty easy even with a cold.

Adventures in Exeter #9

Last week I finally treated myself to a new DSLR to replace the 10 year old beast that I've been neglecting due to the fact it was old and weighs a ton. As Holly and I have been planning some adventures, I thought I better get out and experiment with my new toy asap.

The weather was pretty good one evening so when I got home from work Rich and I got our stuff together and went for a mooch around to take some photos. We spent a good chunk of time around the Quay so I could experiment with light and reflections, I'm pretty pleased with how they came out.

Prepare to see a lot more photos coming to my old blog, because there weren't enough already!!
