First Day of School

Here is Emily, all ready for Kindergarten! Off to public school goes my baby girl. I walked her into her room this morning and my chatterbox child would barely talk to the teacher.  I was like, don't worry, she'll start talking soon.  It's funny now how much of her personality was really evident when we first met. Even as  a wee baby she would be very still and take everything in every time she was in a new situation.  She has to feel it out, and then she decides if  its good or not.  I'm sure by the end of today she'll be talking the teacher's ears off. LOL     I'll admit it, when I made it back to the car I got all choked up and teary eyed. I can't believe my tiny girl is off in the big world today.  It's hard on Momma, that's for sure.    But still, isn't she adorable?

Big Girl!

So excited to have her diploma and be done with the ceremony.  She'll talk my ear off at home, but she was unusually shy at the presentation. It was kinda funny to watch, since it's not her real personality.  When we talked about it later, she said "Mommy, there were a LOT of parents there"   She was right, there were probably 75 people watching, which can definitely be unnerving.   I'm just so proud of her though!

Kindergarten Graduation

My baby graduated Kindergarten last Friday.  Look how grown up she looks!

Blog into Book?

have found a business that will turn your blog into a hard backed book. I think it would be nice for Emily to have that one day, so I'm going thru now trying to create the book.

There are a lot of posts in there that have nothing to do with adoption. Should I take those out? I mean, I thought about the adoption a lot, but every single day I wasn't getting adoption stuff done. What are your thoughts? Part of me thinks I should include everything, so she will know (later) what was going on with my life at that time period, and part of me says take it out and keep it relevant to the adoption and HER story.   Any thoughts from my bloggy peeps out there? (if anyone is left who reads this!!)

Her new trick at 5 months is to stick out her tongue at you. It's very cute.  I'll stick out my tongue and then she does it and then we both laugh.  I love being a Mommy!

Emily's Pumpkin

We went to visit my Mom this weekend.  She was missing both the girls and so we did a girls trip and went up there and left Tony home alone. He also happened to have a nasty cold, so it worked out well. He stayed home and coughed up his lungs, and we went out and played without all his yucky germs around. win win.

It's nice to get away some times, let me tell you!  The best part is that Mom will take on the night shift with Colleen and I can get about 6 hours of sleep IN A ROW.  That's the longest I can go without my boobs feeling like they will explode, (TMI??) but I don't get to do it very often. Colleen isn't anywhere close to sleeping thru the night yet. And although she takes a bottle just fine, I still need to get up with her for my own comfort at least once a night.   We've made it 5 months breastfeeding, and I'm super proud of that, but honestly, I'm tired people. Like really really REALLY tired.  I'm not sure how much longer I can keep doing this.  So yes, it was good to get away. I can't worry about doing the laundry, cleaning the kitchen sorting thru Emily's clothes to take out what she's out grown if I'm not actually at the house to do it, ya know?  So it was a good break.

Mom got the girls each their own tiny pumpkin and she and Emily decorated them both with faces from the Dollar Tree.  Emily loves gluing things and cutting things so this was right up her alley!  Doesn't she look happy?

My Big Girl

Here is Emily all dressed for school yesterday morning.  She keeps telling me "it's NOT school Mommy. It's kindergarten!"  OK then.   Anyways, she is really loving it. Her class is small about 6 kids, all girls.  She adores her teacher, which is great in my book.  And in addition to reading and writing she's also doing some very basic math (add the apples up etc) and computer skills and Spanish once a week.  Emily seems inordinately freaked out when I speak Spanish to her. "how did you know that Mommy? Who told you?"  She doesn't seem to grasp that Mommy could have learned something not in her presence.  And since I'm close to fluent in Spanish, this has her very perplexed.  HA!  Still, I'm very impressed with the work she is doing and I'm just thrilled that she loves school.  I think that's half the battle right there.

Tonight we are going out for special Mommy & Emily time. I'm taking her to see the Disney Princesses on Ice "Dare to Dream"   She is beyond stoked.  Hopefully it's not too painful for me to sit thru.  I'd do anything for my girls, but it helps when they don't bore me to tears.  Tony took her to the last one, and he said he'd rather poke his eyes out than do that again.  I think he took her to Toy Story.  Anyways, here's hoping it goes ok!
