Filling in the gaps...

Since, I print this blog as a journal I don't want to leave some stuff and certain pictures out.
So, here is some of the stuff we have been up to that was skipped over during blogging.

CALEB'S STATS
I took Caleb to his 1 year well-child appointment yesterday.  He did pretty good- He didn't care at all when the doctor checked his heart, lungs, ears, or eyes. H was not happy when the nurse laid him down to measure him, when she measured his head, when the doctor laid him down to check his joints, and off course he was screaming during his shots :(
He is 20 pounds 15.5 ounces (41%- for age) 29 inches long (14%- for age).  But his height-weight ratio puts him at 63%, so he is pretty average.  He is strong and healthy.

CALEB'S BLACK EYE
I think Caleb thinks he is as big as Kelson, and can do all the things that Kelson does.  He can go up stairs great, but he cannot go down them.  A couple of days ago we were all outside enjoying the day.  The boys were playing in the dirt in the shade of the house, and I was working in the garden.  I look over to check on them and Kelson was on the top of our wooden steps by the door and Caleb was standing on the 2nd to top step.  So, I ran over to get him down.  They were both playing in the dirt again- away from the steps.  A few minutes later I hear a thud and crying.  Kelson was on the stairs and Caleb was laying at the bottom.  I felt so so bad.  I don't even know how many stairs he fell down, but he ended up with a pretty good black eye.

this was the day it happenend... it actually looks worse now!

VENUS ECLIPSE AND DIXIE ESCALANTE DINNER
After meeting the crazy guy that came to watch the annular solar eclipse he told us that on June 5th we could see Venus cross in front of the sun.  So, he mailed us some more of the film we used to watch the solar eclipse.  So, we (Me, Baylee, and the boys) went to Christy's house in the late afternoon to check it out.  It basically looked like a freckle on the sun, but it was pretty cool.
After looking at the eclipse for a while we decided to go to the Dixie-Escalante dinner with Christy and Brett.  She goes every year to the dinner and meeting.  Who turns down free dinner?!?  So, we went and I think the boys had a fun time riding the train after they ate some dinner.  It was a pretty fun day.

BEAR HUNT AND TROPIC
This year Brant had a spring bear tag for boulder mountain.  So, the last weekend of the hunt Trevor decided he wanted to go over and hunt for a day or two with Brant.  Jeff also wanted to go get some hunting in.  So, we loaded up and went to tropic.  Brant had actually got a bear the day we went over, but the boys still wanted to look and pursue a bear if they found one. Me, Christy, and the boys stayed at grandma's house during the day while the guys went hunting.  It was a quick trip but fun to see grandma and let Trevor have a break from work to just play.

They must have been wore out from the weekend- they slept almost the entire ride home

Caleb Monster

  Beware... picture overload!!
I can't believe that Caleb monster is 1!  He turned one on June 10.   He is such a fun little boy.  He is learning so much all the time.  He started walking just after 11 months.  He has 10 teeth!! Crazy right?!  He only had 8 teeth on his birthday, but got 2 more just a week or so later.  He can say "momma" "ba" (ball) and his most used word "this" He loves to point and ooh and ahh over things.  Whenever he is excited he points!  He loves being outside and playing with the doggies at grandma's house.  He loves bath time and splashing.  He is a pretty good little eater- especially if he is eating pasta, yogurt, pop tarts, or treats.  He loves playing with Kelson and giving kisses.  He gives the best slobbery kisses a mom could ask for.  His favorite toys are balls, trucks, and blocks.  He hates to be held or "stuck" in his car seat or high chair for very long.  He just wants to run around and play.

1 year pictures coming soon.  We had his pictures and Kelson's pictures taken on Tuesday this week.
We did a monster theme for his birthday party.  We had his party on fathers day since we had the viewing and funeral the week of his birthday.  For the party we had a pasta bar (creamy Bowie pasta, baked penne, and homemade mac & cheese) we had salad and bread sticks.  It was delicious!  After we had some dinner we opened gifts (mostly me and Kelson) opened Caleb's gifts cause he wasn't that interested until the toy or clothes came out.  After presents we ate cake.  Caleb loved the candy more than the cake.  It was fun.  He tried to touch the candle on his cupcake, but Kelson and uncle Chase blew it out before he could.  Pictures from the party.

Grandpa's funeral

On June 6, 2012 my grandpa Barlow passed away.  He has been a huge part of my life.  When he was in the hospital I had the chance to go see him a couple of times.  I am grateful that I was able to tell him I love him.
On June 10th there was a viewing in St. George.  There were so many people that he knew from working at the temple that came.  The funeral and another viewing were on Monday, June 11.  The funeral was wonderful.  There was memories shared, advice given, and respects paid. The great-grandchildren and the grandchildren sang.  It couldn't have been a more perfect day outside for the burial either.  We love you grandpa.  You will be missed.

Thankful Thursday

Todays thankful post is simple...
I am thankful for the WASHING MACHINE AND THE DRYER!

As I am starting my day out with cleaning and doing my laundry, I am grateful that I don't have to scrub clean each individual piece of clothing.  I am grateful that laundry day doesn't take near as long as it used to before the washing machine.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am so incredibly thankful that families can be together forever!

When I was only 6 years old my dad died suddenly of strep pneumonia.  I still have a few vague memories of my dad.  I remember how much I loved spending time with him.  I remember eating breakfast with him before he went to work at the mine- before he would leave he would tuck me back in bed. (could be an altered memory, but I cherish it none-the-less)
I became my grandpa Barlow's little shadow.  I remember following him everywhere in his yard, the garden, and sit with grandma and grandpa at lunch in the summers.  I LOVED spending time with grandpa.  I remember sitting on his lap at church and going to their house every Sunday evening.  Grandpa used to support all of his family in all things they did.  He used to go to every basketball game in Enterprise and support us.  Of course I was cheering or dancing not playing sports- but he was there.
When it came time for me to get married grandpa married us in the St. George temple.  I remember talking to him before the sealing and what a special moment it was to receive one on one advice from him.  I love my grandpa so much and I am going to miss him. I am so glad I had the chance to see him, hold his hand, give him a kiss, and tell him I love him before he passed on to the other side.
I am SO grateful that through the atonement we can be with our loved ones forever.  It is so sad for us still here to not have grandpa anymore.  BUT I am so glad that he can be with his sweet wife, son, and daughter.  I LOVE YOU GRANDPA-  SEE YOU LATER!

Memorial Weekend

Some of my family came down for Memorial weekend.  It is always fun when family is around.  On Saturday night Ivica made his "famous" lasagna for dinner and it was SO good!  We just had a fun time eating dinner and visiting while the kids played.
Sunday after church we had a yummy cook out. In the later evening we went and took our flowers to the cemetery and put on dads head stone.
As you can see my kids are the very best at getting their pictures taken. haha

Even though it was kind of late in the evening we decided to go over to spend some time with grandpa.  He is getting so lonely.

On Monday morning we went down to St. George to spend some time with my mom and swim at her pool.  The kids loved swimming.  Caleb kept getting mad that I wouldn't let him put his face in the water.  He is too brave and Kelson is a chicken!  It was a pretty relaxed weekend, but so fun to spend time with family!
