School is in

Well, all the anxiety and sadness has been lessened as time has continued to pass.  I think  part of that anxiety comes from being back on a schedule, where we have always been footloose and fancy free and we are always  doing something last minute.  However the schedule is beginning to rule again, and spontaneity has to take a step back, but we are surviving.  Porter really likes his teacher, and he is enjoying the whole concept of recess.  I really like the schools reading concepts, they are based on what they call the  spalding method.  I think it will be a fun year.  A few pix of Porter on his first day of school.

Sprinklers and Fire

We spent some time with Grandma on Saturday.  She made us dinner, popsicles, twinkies, ding dongs, cookies, starburst, bubble gum, pretty much anything the kids wanted.  Then we hit the yard for some hammock, playhouse, swingset, airplane, SPRINKLER fun.

Reese Dancin' the night away.
Super boy!
Havin' a great time.
Another super boy.
Grandma  throwing the frisbee in the wind.

When we got home from Grandmas house daddy was just pulling in from a long 4-wheeler  ride.  He was hungry and craving hotdogs and smores.  So he went outback, started up a fire, and cooked away.  Yep the kids are still in their skibby's from playing at grandmas, and it is 11:30 p.m.  I guess that is what a summer night is for, right?

soakin' up the summer

Nothing  beats a warm summer rain.  It MUST be played in.

How ta ride dem bulls...

We love a good Rodeo!  Not to mention the kettle corn, cotton candy and slush.  We were at the fair for 5  hours on Thursday, then came back for several more Friday night with dad.  Porter made me laugh, he asked  if he was  going to be able to ride a sheep?  I told him I was sorry, but I forgot to get him signed up.  Then he was upset with me, and so I said, maybe we can talk to someone and see if you could still do it.   After a minute  pause he said, its okay, I will just do it later.  Thus the reason I didn't sign him up.  It looks all good and fun, till it comes right down to it.
Ham, Bacon, Pork and Sausage.
The  tractors are always a big hit!
Hangin' out with the cowfolk.

Two cowboys  just analyzing their competition.
A calf, just their size.
Another one bites the dust...  And Reese squirting anti bacterial all over  her hands and wiping her legs down too.  Where does she get that? :)
The boys LOVED this blue pigeon.

Sad to see it fade

I have been avoiding the whole 'school' thing until I decided it wasn't  going to go away.  So I  checked into when the first day of Kindergarten was going to inevitably be, and it is the 20th.  Yes, the 20th of THIS MONTH.  Actually I can't really think about it, or I cry.  As it nears, it is the only time I have actually considered home schooling.  But I am trying to be a big girl about it, so we went and bought a back pack yesterday, Transformers of course.  But I am postponing the whole clothes thing until at least friday, or maybe next week.  Any of you other moms having these same feelings?  I am just not ready to send him off to the bullies, and new events  that are sure to be at school.  I guess you could say I am a little overprotective.  My kids don't really play at other kids houses either.  I am like a little mother hen.  I like them near me.  However this mother hen can also be a mother bear, so I worry about what I may do if he comes home sad or hurt.  I know NEW is a good thing too, and life experiences come through trials sometimes, and yes I am talking about me, not porter.  j/k, both of us I guess.  Anyway, there will be tears that first day, but I guess they have to learn to fly at some point.  So, in giving into the odds of fate we are going to live up these last summer weeks, swimming,  hiking, playing, boating, etc.  I will keep you posted.  A few pix from this past weekends events.
A little Walk down the street to see the sheep, and find a few rocks to paint.
I turned to water the garden, and when I turned back,  Reese was feeding/gagging Cache, and there was  food all over.
But of course  Cache didn't care.  He was still the happiest baby ever.
We filled up water balloons for a water fight.  Oh ya, and to  'surprise' daddy when he got home.
Hiding behind the  trailer waiting for the target to pull  in.  Then  came the attack!!!

Family 'car' wash.

A fun game of Dodge ball with Uncle Blake.

The boys went camping with Jed and Myles Hancock.  They did some shootin', bike ridin', canoeing, fishing, and of course fried up some of their best fish for dinner.  All things that boys like to do.

Porter is officially a bike rider.  Training wheels NOT included!  We have been practicing off and on, and he came in the other day to get me and show me his new conquest!  Way to go boy!!!

We went up Green canyon for a beautiful family night hike.
House full of super heros!

Swimming at Auntie Sara's house.  We also went to the country club the day before, so the kids were fish this weekend.  This bottom picture is a little at Kael's expense.  But we put Caches floaty on him and couldn't stop laughing.  It is the Sumo look.
