As a gift to her son, and future daughter-in-law, Jo, my mother-in-law, gave us a mattress - among lots of other great gifts for our wedding. Being the future daughter-in-law who still cared about making good impressions, and not wanting to come across as too greedy, I assured Jo, while we shopped, that a queen-sized mattress would do. I still remember the horror on her face when she told me that she had watched her son thrash around in his bed, and thought to herself several times how she pitied his future wife. She insisted that we get a king, and for that I am grateful!
My sweet uncle said once, while helping us move, "Nat, King Arthur called, he wants his bed back." I'm not sure if he was overwhelmed by the size of the bed, because he and his wife sleep in a double, or by the style - but either way, it helped me to realize that our bed truly is fit for a king! We love it!
I made a fool of myself in front of my boss once by saying, "Our bed is always busy." Then realizing how what I had just said, came across, I quickly said, "My husband works nights, while I'm asleep, and then he sleeps during the day. So, there's always someone sleeping in it."
Travis just got a new job up at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. He decided to pick up some extra shifts there because he wants some experience in a real ER with real traumas. Lakeview has been a great place for him to start his nursing career. He really enjoys it there, but I think it's mostly because most nights after midnight, he watches movies! There isn't much in the way of real emergencies.
This week he started his orientation at McKay Dee. Travis normally works 6 PM - 6 AM so, 8 AM - 4:30 PM orientation was a real adjustment for him. This week has been horrible, trying to make the adjustment to days, and this weekend, working the night shift again. Notice that I didn't say this week has been horrible for him - because it's been horrible for all of us! Addison's schedule has been off, and Travis and I have had to learn how to share our bed again. Don't get me wrong, it has been great having Trav home, and awake during normal hours of the day, and the extra canoodling (that means snuggling) time has been great too, but none of us slept well all week.
I guess this long ramble of a post should be titled, "An Ode to Our Bed", or "Sleeping with the Enemy", or "Sleepless in Salt Lake" - Regardless, I'm just grateful that I get to sleep all by myself in our big bed tonight! I probably should mention that I am grateful to my husband, too! He managed to make it through this rough week with a fairly positive attitude, and it was fun spending time with him. I am grateful that he works as hard as he does to provide for us, so that I can stay home with Addison - there's no greater gift he could give me! Love you, Trav!

Foodie...Again!
Addison has found her love of food again, and I am so glad. We went through a rough patch, where she didn't want to eat anything except for bananas, and oatmeal. When I would attempt to give her vegetables, like any good momma should, she would spit them out at me. I was torn between trying to give my baby what was good for her, or giving her what she wanted, and what wouldn't get spit all over me. For awhile, she ate only bananas and oatmeal..BORING!
After a few trips to the grocery store, we have found that Addison likes the food in the jars. I had never ventured to the jar food, just the Gerber containers. The jars, however, have much more variety. Instead of just sweet potatoes, they have sweet potatoes and turkey, and apples and chicken, they even have macaroni and cheese, which has quickly become a favorite at our house! She still LOVES her oatmeal, and bananas, but enjoys the other varieties too!
At almost 10 months, Addison still has no teeth. Seriously! Not even any signs of teeth, like swollen, red gums. It makes things a little bit more tricky because she loves to eat things that really should be eaten with a few teeth to help in the process..like Ritz crackers, biter cookies, and french fries (thanks Daddy). Luckily, she's also a fan of the Gerber stars that melt in her mouth. We still give her the other things, but it's easier on me to know that the choking hazard is a little lessened by the melting in your mouth factor.

Uh-Oh, Bye-Bye, and Stair Climber
Addison is a little chatter-box..but most of the time it is only when she wants to be. I have never caught it on tape, until today! In addition to saying "Uh-Oh", waving and saying, "Bye-Bye", she can say "Momma", which is of course my favorite! She also says, "Woof", like a puppy, and makes a cute bubbly fishy noise with her lips, when you ask her what a fish says.
Addison is so busy. One of her favorite things is to climb up our four stairs from our family room into our kitchen. Travis is now regretting that he taught her that so quickly. It's fun to see how proud she is of herself when she does it, though! We always have to keep our eyes on her, because she's is into everything these days.

No Shots!
Addison went in for her 9 month well visit today. She's been feeling crummy with a nasty cold, so I was worried about them having to give her shots in addition to her feeling bad. Luckily for her, she isn't due for more shots until her 12 month visit. Hooray!
Addison is looking great! Everything checked out and she's doing really well in all areas. She's lost some of her chub due to some picky eating, and being sick. She weighs 18.12 lbs. Only the 50th percentile. At her 4 month visit she was in the 90th percentile, and her 6 month visit, she was in the 75th percentile for weight. So, she's steadily growing into her baby fat. She's 29 inches long, which is the 90th percentile for height, and her head is 17.5 inches around, 70th percentile.

9 Months Old
Today Addison is 9 Months old. I can't even believe that she has been here as long as she was in my tummy..because that felt like an eternity! This last month has been as busy one for Addison: She learned to crawl, she pulls herself to standing, she crawls up the stairs (only with Daddy's help), she waves bye-bye (but only when she wants to), she decided that she doesn't like to eat vegetables any more and spits them at mom, she learned to throw nasty temper tantrums (but recovers quickly and is still as cute as ever), she's still obsessed with her tongue and can curl it, she says 'Oh' when she discovers new things, and makes the cutest face when she does, she can whistle (not on purpose, and only occassionally), she has a new hairstyle with a cute piggie tail and bow. Addison is my joy, and is growing so fast! Happy 9 months little one! I love you!Cute girl with cute 'big girl' hairThe tantrumSaying 'Oh'Stanging up to play..she'll be walking soonThe tongue!
