haha I haven't been back in a while. Last night was Jasmine's birthday party. It was really enjoyable! (: I love the year 2s. They're damn cool people hee. xin yi's house is damn nice!! It's very cosy. But I still would like to live at Monash Green next year. ernest, kh, paul and I went to take a look at it just now after studying at the library, so yay. (: I have decided where I want to stay next year. Now, the problem lies in whether I can get a place there! Anyway, back to Jasmine's birthday party, it was pot luck and kw, sy, xf, sheryl, zx, zp and I made brownies, potato gratin and mashed potatoes with gravy to bring there. The food was really good and eugene was asking me which was the best dish, and whether it was the fried rice, which incidentally, was what he and john made -.- haha so amusing. then we played 7-up and john kept on losing wahaha. I really enjoyed myself last night. (: i can't wait to move out of halls >.<... ...BECAUSE...
SOME IDIOT IS STEALING MY FOOD. I use the common fridge and this morning, after I ran my 4km (-feels accomplished-) I came back to my room to eat my cereal and after preparing all my stuff, I went to the kitchenette and took out my carton of milk that I JUST OPENED and realised that it was only half full (hurhur.. optimism) and I didn't remember it being that empty the last time I used it >.< color="#ffff99">yogurt containers missing, 2
plums, 1
apple and 1
tomato gone.. among other things. -huffs- I need my own fridge. I wouldn't mind the extra desk space (: along with the fact that my food is secure. hee hee.
AND
My neighour is blasting his stupeeed heavy metal music again. dammit i have to get out of here.
but yes, today i had a relatively productive day at the library. I was there for 4 hours or thereabouts and studied properly.. at least I would like to think so hehe. Was reading through the biotech rubbish and I realised that I have some kind of stigma with biotech >.< size="4">HOME COOKED FOOD. hee hee I'm getting a high just thinking about going home. Seeing my family, paulee and all my darlings back home.. going to svdp again.. *sigh* home sweet home. Ok I'm going for dinner soon whee~
Will write more another time. God bless~

oh gosh.. I'm so exhausted. >.< Today was a terrible terrible day because we had so many lectures! I woke up at 7 this morning, which was late, and I did this wild pig scamper to get all my stuff together to get to lecture in time by 8. After that, I had 4 consecutive hours of lessons - 3 crazy hours of lectures and 1 hour of PCL. (I love my PCL group (: ) then one hour break and another lecture and another one hour break and another lecture. For the last one hour break, kw, sy, xf, zx, wd, sheryl and I were all so unbelievably exhausted, we all went to the matheson library and just passed out on the couches there and slept for about 45 minutes, which felt really good. During the last lecture, the projector was malfunctioning again, so prof kerr cancelled lecture! whee~
on another note, yesterday I went to the city and met up with shu en, hui en and eunice. it was so nice seeing them again! I felt so happy (: we went for dessert at this place called koko black, which is AMAZING. it makes max brenners look lousy. We ordered this fantastic hot chocolate and ice chocolate and chocolate ice cream and chocolate mousse. It tasted so so good, I felt so happy. (: I miss them! chocolate makes iris happy. hee. Then damien picked me up from their apartment (which is gorgeous). kh, kw and ernest stayed there, so I squeezed into the car with cc, zp, paul, jl and damien, who was driving, which was super cramped. >.< I got back to school just in time for mass, which started late because of some technical difficulties, and during the waiting time when I sneaked in at the back, rayner saw me and asked me to go sit in front. haha. so I sat with the choir, and hence I now unofficially or officially, what have you, am part of the choir. it was quite nice though. (: it made me feel very happy to be singing hee hee. I miss the whole being-surrounded-by-many-people-during-mass kind of feeling.
Speaking of the being-surrounded-by-many-people-during-mass kind of feeling, I will be going home in june! I'll be back on a saturday evening, which means I can go for mass on sunday!! WAHAHA -feels happy- and I'm so super thankful to shu for helping me with my ticket! -huggs- thanks dearr.
Today during dinner, since paul cut his hair and got rid of his feelers (centre parting) he has starting waxing his hair, which led us to the topic of Gatsby. upon which we were recalling the gatsby ads, and when sy mentioned
this ad, I cracked up (: she xf and i were laughing until we were tearing, or maybe it was just me. and zx said that he was more amused by our reaction than the memory of the ad itself. HAHA so funny.. ok got to get back to work. I didn't do any work for the whole weekend. mehhh. enjoy the ad and God bless~

ahh I'm back (: The weekend has come and it feels so good! It's now 935 and for once I could sleep in a bit more because I've been absolutely exhausted these past 2 days. The exam was on Friday, and it was ok I guess. I don't want to think about it anymore. They repeated a few questions from the Formative exam, so I was like -.- one thing that struck me about the exam was that the tables were gigantic. They were individual tables, but they were so huge, there was so much space to put all my stuff. Then I thought about taking exams at home back in rj and rg and recalled the desks that were really small and when you put all your things like french curve, 2 calculators, pencil case, mathematical set etc, there would be no space to write!
so anyway, then that night was Jeffrey's, Ethan's and Ming Jian's house party which was really nice! The food was tasty and the company was good hee hee. I met one of Bing's friends wahaha so interesting. and I finally got to watch some tv, something i haven't done in a long time. (: the house was very nice too! it had a very homey feel (: we left around 11 and walked back to halls. ah so nice. (: i think living with friends will be very fun.
yesterday I got up at 515 -.- because SAM organised paintball! (: trying to wake up was an absolute nightmare. Met the others at 545 and the crossroads and we all slowly trekked to robery blackwood hall. Someone commented that I had my abused housewife look again with the messy hair and walking like a zombie. so sweet. (: it was a 3 hour drive to echuca, which supposedly is at the border of victoria and new south wales, and i slept most of the way, waking up randomly to talk to kw who was sitting beside me and paul who was behind me hurhur. paintball is fun! just that it hurts like hell. somehow, my hands kept on getting hit, so now I have some cuts on the dorsum side of my hand. mehh. but it was fun and I kept on hitting xf oops >.<>.< and I ended up sleeping around 2. but I woke up at around 9, so it's not so bad hee.
may be going to the city today! wheee~ i just finished my breakfast and I feel happy. I feel like eating tim tams. I knew I shouldn't have bought them! bleh. will write more later. take care and God bless! (:

EEEEPPPP I can't take it anymoreeeee!! ): ): ): ): ): ): No more studyinggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brain fried brain fried brain fried.. YARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH this is a highly stressful situation. Iris is going mad in Melbourne one day before a stoopid summative exam that is only a freaking 5% so it's damn stoopeeeeed to be stressed out -grumble grumble-ahh.. hoping for the best tomorrow.
9:22 PM
Ok i'm back again! (: seems like I'm only updating once a week hehe. ah well. School has started again! which means the exam is coming soon! (it's tomorrow) and I hope I have revised enough!
thanks so much to my darling xin and shun for the postcard of irises -hugs- love you guys so much -hughug-
I MISS NICCCCC!! -HUGS- the tagboard on your blog was being cranky, so I"m replying here. I love nic i love nic -hughug-
the most interesting thing that happened this week is the campus-wide blackout. During lunch on Monday, I was happily eating my beef brisket noodles when all of a sudden the lights went out and the emergency power was switched on. when I went to the ground floor of the campus centre, it was super dark and people were just walking around in the dark, trying to remember what was where, and slowly moving around. THe worst part was that I didn't have any cash on me and I wanted to go buy food, but then all the ATMs were out -.- thank God for shu who lent me my money for food hee hee. Thanks shu! After that, we had our stakeholder tutorial which was absolutely amazing. We got this really cute grandmotherly lady as our stakeholder and she was giving a talk, and just listening to her talk, it just brought a lot of waves of emotion. And it's because of people like her, that the motivation to study med arises, that desire to help. but in the middle of the talk, the lights went out -.- and emergency lighting was switched on. after 2 hours, even that went out. lecture was cancelled! which was extremely exciting. paul and alex were talking about how it was like snow day in canada wahaha.
so yesterday there was no school -cheers- (when i say yesterday, i mean on tuesday hee..) so I was in deakin studying in the morning. in the afternoon i went back to my room hurhur. study study. so exciting. i was so happy to find out that the whole med fac still had no power, despite the fact that power had been restored to other buildlings. whoo. (: so NO ETHICS TUTE! we still had one lecture today though.. first anat lecture. after lecture, i went to the lib to study and stayed there until almost 9! although it wasn't extremely productive towards the end -.- because we were all feeling hyper and bored and sian etc etc. after that, we went to eat some durian ice cream from full house, which was really nice. we were sitting/standing outside the mess hall and -beams- enjoyable. must admit that there were some parts of today that i was EXTREMELY annoyed, but it's past stuff and I want to remember nice things hurhur. so yes.. I need to sleep because I have to wake up early again tomorrow. Power is restored to all buildlings, which means I have my syndicate tutorial tomorrow bleh. ah well.. God bless!

I'm back again! It's been a while since I've blogged and so many things have happened, namely, the mid semester holidays just ended. To the holidays, I say PFFT. The faculty cut off 2 of our days, so I just got back from school -.- while the other faculties start school again on Monday. -feels cheated- it feels more like a long weekend than a holiday. I spent the whole holidays just studying for the exam next week. Every day I popped over to Deakin common room to study, which, I may add, is extremely conducive. And it's really fun studying with kh and paul because once in a while, we would just break into rubbish and it's rather entertaining. Studying was really slow though, but it would have been slower in my room because of the lure of the internet. Not to mention, yesterday my neighbour came back from who-knows-where, and I would have had to battle with his heavy metal/screaming/hard core rock music, which I can hear loud and clear through the wall. -.- So yes, I think my holiday wasn't too productive though because I spent most of it doing theme 3, which took just about forever to get through.
The highlight of the holidays was definitely the Great Ocean Road road trip. (: it was so fun! eugene, zx and damien rented 2 rav 4s and a corolla. we also at hc's nissan skyline (damn nice.. (: ) and armaan's toyota. About 25 of us went on the trip and I just wanted to say a big thankew to kw for organising it. (: sy, xf, kw, zx and I were in one car. zx was the first to drive and we decided to torture him with girl music. kw and I were thinking about white chicks, so we blasted thousand miles by vanessa carlton, and zx was squirming in agony. haha. (: I was sitting in front because I was navigating, and in the backseat, there was this battle going on with sy's iPod speakers because every 1+ minute, she would change the song and it drove all of us absolutely INSANE. o.0 but it was damn cool. A whole convey of 6 cars on the expressway. Then eugene and damien were testing the rav 4s, speeding along the highway. (: and we took all kinds of stupid random photos like the ones below.. (: the drive was damn fun. When we got to Torquay (or was it Lorne or one of the smaller towns along the way) I took over the wheel from zx, and I accidentally jammed the brakes, which were rather messed up. oops. But the drive was damn nice. You really could cruise along the highway, with the big open sky, fields full of cows and sheep on both sides of the road, and just enjoy the view, the drive, speeding along.. It was so therapeutic (: when we arrived at torquay, we could see the ocean and it was absolutely fantastic. (: we stopped at one scenic lookout and took some really gorgeous photos of the ocean. (: and everyone was really high because of the air and everything, the drive..
me driving! woohooo (:

at the subway near uni just before we set off

the view!
We stopped in Lorne for lunch. And the fish and chips were massive! I think it owned fish and co. I paid $6.70 for a gigantic piece of fish, chips and australian goreng pisang (hurhur) I then went into armaan's car to keep him company and then alex was like, "Iris why don't you try driving armaan's car?" so I did drive, and ended up having a pile up of cars behind me because I was driving too slowly. HAHA. (: so the other cars overtook me hee hee. It was rather entertaining because after a while, I was driving behind this trailer van which was driving at 60km/h on the highway, so I overtook it. kw who was driving behind me, also overtook, but she didn't accelerate enough, so she was in the next line driving against oncoming traffic for quite a while and only changed back when another car was almost approaching her. Taking the bends in armaan's car was disastrous though, because his car doesn't have power steering o.0 so I was throwing my whole body weight onto the wheel trying to turn it. haha. someone was telling me that it was probably a good workout for me and allowed me to build up my biceps. I drove all the way to the 12 apostles, which was about a good 2 hour drive. The view was really amazing because it was about evening time and the sun hit the stacks at a really nice angle. Took some really nice photos as well and ARGHHH it was just so fun.

me kw sy hc and xf

some of the apostles..

kw me xf!

xf, zx, sy, kw, me!
We didnt' stay at the 12 apostles for long because we had to head back, so armaan drove back and we pressed on all the way back to melbourne. It took about 4 hours. But we did stop at port campbell for a while, and it was so nice! it reminded me of the time when mom dad eunice and I went. I found a stick, and sy, kw, xf and I drew a heart in the sand with our names on it. then eugene came and wrote dk in the sand, so we thought it would be nice to take a photo. Just as armaan took the photo, the water came in and washed away like half the picture in the sand. hmph. It was really funny, just that my birkies were full of sand after that, and I had cold toes in the car.

the beach at port campbell (:

At port campbell (:
The drive back was really nice because the sun was setting and the sky was all dark, but on the horizon you could still see shades of orange and yellow. There was one scary part when armaan, who was in the lead, almost missed the turn to the melbourne A1 highway and I had to yell at him, upon which he made this incredible swerve to turn right. and when I turned around, I could see all the other cars do that too HAHA. I was convinced I saw kangaroos along the side of the road, but anyway, when the sky was darker, because the highway had no street lights, looking up, the sky was so so so beautiful, because you could see all the stars that you would not normally see in the city, and I wanted to just stop the car and go into the field, lie down and look up (: ahh.. I don't give credit to that view man.

When we got to Melbourne, it was already 10+ and we all hadn't eaten dinner yet. sy, xf and armaan went back while the rest of us went to glen waverly to have dinner at bob's kitchen. the dumplings were so good. (: but I was so exhausted that night. I had a lot of fun though (: and the driving was so fun!
OH and the night before the great ocean road trip, damien had a party at his house, which was entertaining, because the theme was obiang and john and eugene looked so cute! (: the door photos were hilarious though, esp lynn thwin and hc. but I left quite early. but we took some nice photos (: hee.

armaan ernest sheryl me paul!

the girls!

the guys!

zp, eugene, john and the girls (:

the group of us at damien's party (:
Last night a bunch of us went to sofia's for dinner and it was amazing! serious value for money I think. The gelatos are massive! $4.50 for a mountain of it. I think it's ice kachang size! and the pasta! We bought 2 plates of pasta that were each supposed to be able to feed 2 people, and about 11 people shared it. haha. then eugene and i were talking about the champion's league and he was telling me not to be too confident about liverpool just because they won the first leg because there's always the 7 points (referring to man u -.-) upon which he happily added that if pool lost last night, he would be the first one to call me -.-" but they won so HAH.
Ok this entry is really long, but I must inject some more complaints into it. 2 more..
FIRSTLY: the toilet seats. I tell you, I think someone really ought to come up with heated toilet seats or something. Because even though it's autumn, sitting down on the seat is a nightmare. I can't even imagine winter. The coldness really sends a shock through the whole body ): and it's not a very pleasant experience to have first thing in the morning when you're grouchy and sleepy (:
SECONDLY: I have a pathetic excuse for a radiator/heater in my room. I leave it on for the whole day, and when I come back in, I'm still cold. In the morning, my room is still cold. When I woke up this morning I was like o.0 and I just wanted to stay in bed, but since we had school (when everyone else doesn't) I had no choice. ):
syndicate was a waste of time. pfft. but I didn't learn the CFTR transports chloride ions into and out of cells.. zx and I were having a massive debate about it. He wanted to bet with me, but we decided to just check it out and we deduced that it's dependent on which organ you're referring to. harhar. And home tut was even worse. trung, megan and I were talking about yo momma jokes and he told me this really hilarious one that went like this: "Yo momma is so fat, the only time she's seen 90210 is on the weighing scale." unbelievable. and ravin and i were talking about kua chee and sambal stingray and things like that *sigh* food. which brings me to the fact that.. I may be going home in June!!! YARRRRGHHH (: can't wait can't wait. (: (: but nothing's confirmed yet since I don't know the day of our exams -mutters- but if I go back, it means that i can see all my darlings again! whee~
bah ok now I'm waiting for photobucket to upload the photos so that I can upload them to here. waiting for a long time. so I shall blog about my swimming yesterday. I swam about 1km. It took me a grand total of 40 minutes. -.- I can run 1 km in like 6-7 mins. but the swim felt quite good (: just that now my hair is wrecked because I forgot that I didn't have conditioner -.- bleh. I'll go to brandon park on saturday to get it. and I need to buy peanut butter because I just finished it this morning. (:
Gosh this entry is really long. If I lose it, I'll burst into tears. Now I'm just waiting for the photos to show finish uploading. dum dee dum. Today I forgot to bring my wallet to school, which was really stupid, because I put it into my handbag last night, and when I lifted my handbag this morning, I was wondering why it was so heavy, but since I slept at 2 last night trying to finish the research for the syndicate, I was just like meh.. forget it. -.-" brilliant..
ah yes! and I shall promote carrie underwood's album! slightly late, but it's really really nice! i've listened to the whole album about 3 times in the time span of 2 days. (: once when I was in the library sleeping earlier hee hee. so today is over! woohoo and I need to go complete my PCL research bleh. I'll do that before dinner! -feels slightly motivated- sy xf and sheryl are cooking tonight and it sounds good hee (: so I'm looking forward to that. I still haven't cooked my corn beef yet.. I'm convinced the potatoes that I bought have already sprouted -.-
whee long entry I shall stop here! God bless! (: and some of the photos are a little grainy but ah well (:

Today was a really nice day! I went for my hospital visit, which was highly interesting, and extremely painful, because I was in boots for the whole day! and my feet were killing me. The minute I got back to my room after dinner, I changed to a nice comfortable pair of slippers.
This morning, I woke up early to get ready for my clinical site visit. Getting dressed for something more formal is such a pain. The requirement to look presentable is so irritating, because it involves being relatively uncomfortable. -.- so yes, I took nearly an hour to get ready and I slowly strolled down to the crossroads to wait for everybody and no other Singaporean was there! so I was talking to justina when zx came then sy and xf, then we walked to cmhse to have our ethics tut, which was nightmarish because I was restless, sleepy, cranky, what have you. Then I ate peri peri for lunch at the campus centre with armaan, damien and jl. I left around 1130 and ended up waiting for the bus for 40 mins! Luckily I left early, if not I would have been late. I reachced the hospital at 110pm. -.- horrible. I was paired up with Jordan and this really nice intern brought us to this lady who was incredible to talk to! (: Jordan and I were talking to her for more than half an hour. It was really funny because while we were interviewing her, we didn't take any notes down. It seemed rather inappropriate at the time. She did mention several problems she was facing, some family history. Basically, we asked her one question and she would talk about so many other things that were so entertaining, it was easy to forget the task at hand. -laughs- but she gave us a lot of information without prompting and she was so so sweet! (:
OH and I didn't mention that I managed to make my way down to the hospital without getting too lost! (: I took the 733 from the bus loop and after my visit, took the 733 back! -feels triumphant- I took a nice leisurely stroll from the bus loop back to halls. The air was cool and the sun was setting. I was eating a cookie I bought from lunch and was just taking the sights and sounds in. It was very relaxing, although my feet were killing me, but everything seemed more vibrant this evening. The wind was blowing, and when I walked past trees, I could see the tips of leaves starting to turn red. It was absolutely gorgeous (: I took about half an hour to walk back, but it was extremely enjoyable.

me feeling triumphant HAH. anyway, after I got back, we went for dinner at the Richo dine in. The guys got chased away though, because they weren't from richo ): poor things.. I felt really bad about it. bleh. Dinner wasn't too great. The mashed potatoes had the consistency of pizza dough. I stuck my fork in it vertically and it stayed there. o.0
After dinner, xf, sy, zx, sheryl, kw and I went to the farrer hall piano room to play the piano and in the process, we decided to take some photos! and some turned out really nicely! but my camera is cranky and it's very blurry. ): unfortunately. and I just dropped it onto my desk >.<

The girls (:

tadah! the people who went for the site visit. (: muahaha yeah it's kind of blurry. I need to do something about my camera! But yes, today was a really nice day and I did enjoy myself a lot. Around 930, I went down to the late night cafe for my usual dose of madness. (: damien and lynn thwin were there! It was really enjoyable. hee.
Ok totally exhausted now. >.<>

hello I'm back! I just thought I'd cram in a small entry before heading off to school :) yesterday was April Fool's day and a bunch of us played a trick on zp.. which turned out quite badly, so, zp, I'm so sorry! Hope you're feeling better today..
I read Marlom's blog and he had some video clips about RJ on it, and I felt this sudden gigantic wave of nostalgia. Looking at that green and white building at bishan, the uh.. green black brown white dunno-what-else colour of the mt. sinai campus, I almost started crying and I wanted so much to go back, to relive the memories both the good and bad, because these are memories I'll hold dearest to me, and they are the ones that have shaped me into the person that I am today.
I have a lot to be thankful for. I have been blessed with the most wonderful, supportive, loving friends on earth, an awesome family.. and I am chasing my dream of doing med and becoming a doctor. Thank you, God. It is only through You that all this is possible.
We have all been through disappointment. J1 was a roller coaster of emotions, and I think that it was during this period that all of us grew. That naive outlook on life has been replaced by a more solid, cynical one. Although our outlook may change, in our hearts, the dreams are all the same. Like my dear Paula wrote on the picture she gave me "Oh my friend, we are older but no wiser. For in our hearts, the dreams are all the same." Yes we have all changed in one way or another. But the important thing is that we all still love each other and no matter what, we will always be great together. The past few years have made us all the more beautiful :)
Looking back, each disappointment that we faced was the foundation for something greater, and thus I am thankful for the disappointments because they made me see, realise or confirm, what have you, that I there are some things that I just can't get through life without, and that is the friendship that I have found in my dears.. my mafia, rjcsb '05, rgssb '03
Oh my friend, we are older but no wiser. For in our hearts the dreams are all the same..

haha I'm back. Last night was so nice (: I was talking to 208 society online for like an hour! ahhh I miss them so much. All thanks to hy who messaged me while I was appearing offline (as usual). So now, I shall make a conscious effort to go online more often. (: and we were talking about so much rubbish. zengo is flying off on monday -cries- it's so fast! I've already been here for almost 2 months and shun and vivvy have been in the uk for almost a whole academic year and the nus people are having their exams coming up! gosh.. but it's nice to know that we're still great together (: I love the society.. -hugs- and i miss bullying zengo. we have done so many stupid things together.. and I'm really at my most evil when they're around. actually it's just when zengo is around. (It just dawned on me that we've been calling her that for the past 5 years) we were talking about airplane flights and she's going by japan air. I was complaining about sq because the economy class was so cramped and I was telling her there was hardly any butt room, and the guy next to me was kind of big so his arms were taking up so much space, it pushed me further to the side -.- then zeng mentioned that the economy class was very safe, upon which she said that that was because if the plane crashes, people in business class will be the first to die. I thought she was going to say it was because the seats are so cramped and tight, that if the plane crashes, no one would be able to fly out of them anyway. hurhur.

at sakae sushi! (:

forever, dears -hugs-
Not much has happened since.. the last time I blogged. haha. There's a formative assessment coming up on Tuesday. I would like to do well for that >.<
Armaan is so sweet! He baked blueberry muffins for us and he drove down to school all the way from the city to pass them to us. and to play soccer but lynn punk'd him haha. So he drove back to the city and when we mentioned that we were going to chadstone, he drove all the way back and gave us a lift there. so so sweet! ahhh he's so nice! (: and so amusing because he's convinced that people think that he's the ultimate expert on Malay culture. (:
ahh ok I need to go get some work done. mug mug. mug mug. Take care and God bless!
