All About Me

This layout was created for the September Crafty Challenge at Two Scrapbooking Friends. The challenge was to create a scrapbook layout featuring ourselves.

I only appear in a small percentage of the photos we take (this is intentional). For this challenge I went back a few years…….okay I went back quite a few years when I was about 3 years old. Although my career as a runway model never took off, this challenge was a great chance to reflect on great memories of my childhood.

I haven’t looked closely at this picture in a while. When I pulled it out to scrapbook I realized how much of my daughters I can now see in my face when I was a child. I really enjoyed sharing stories about my “modelling” days with my daughters.

This photo was only a copy that I used. I am still new to scrapbooking, so I didn’t feel comfortable scrapbooking the original photo.

On the white back ground I used a Prima camera stencil and modelling paste to give the camera's dimension. I then used Gelatos (guava) with a wet sponge for a bit of colour.Paper: MME Cut & Paste Flair, Chalk StudioEmbellishments: American Craft Twine, Prima Camera Clips, Fancy buttons & Camera, Maggie Holmes Die cuts, MME enamel dots.Letters: American Craft Thickers (Marquise), Authentique "Delightful"The butterflies, tag and vellum pocket came from a Studio Calico kit.

My Blogging Starts

Okay, I did it. I finally took the plunge and created a blog. So far so good. I am not the most tech savvy person in the world, so this will be a definite adventure. Thank you for joining me on this new adventure and any advice that my fellow bloggers can impart, I am ready to learn. I started this blog to provide a personal forum for me to showcase my creations.

I am a paper crafting GEEK. My love of paper started in 2005 as I began to plan for my oldest daughter's first birthday. I decided to use the Internet and search for ideas for her Winnie the Pooh themed party. There was so much I could do! I was on maternity leave, so why not spend a bit of my "free" time on party planning. Little did I know what this was going to start. I made invitations, decorations, created games etc. The response was positive. Hey, I am pretty good at this and it was so much fun.

My paper crafting started with making cards, invitations, party decorations and gifts for family, friends, coworkers, teachers etc. For many years most of my creating was done at our dining room table. This wasn't the greatest set up and my creations were only done on key occasions. Then one day, my loving, supportive husband bought me my craft table. Finally, my own space in the corner of the basement, a place where I can leave my creations (mess) and not worry about having to pack it all up for dinner time. A haven that was all mine. Although he may now regret that purchase (not really) as my corner is now a bit larger. I think he will draw the line when I start hanging my layouts off of his exercise equipment.

I work full time and my family keeps busy, so my crafting hours are few. They are in the hours when my kids are asleep, between loads of laundry and on the occasional day off. I have progressed from card making and have recently started scrapbooking. I created my first layout in May of this year and I was hooked.

I love all things paper. I love to create. I love to learn and I love to share my love of paper, in the cards I make, the gifts I create and the stories I tell with my layouts. I am a total paper GEEK! I love it!
