Picking out the puppy

We got to go to Blackfoot and pick out our puppy today.  My kids have been excited!  Especially fin.  She could not wait to get there.  There were 10 puppies born. 5 boys, 5 girls.  We were the 4th to put a down payment on a girl, so we only had 2 puppies to choose from.   Which was okay - because how do you even choose a puppy?

We all agreed on this one - she is red/blonde colored.  And was the smallest puppy of the litter.  Im hoping that means she will stay pretty small.  Her mom is a golden retriever. And her dad is a toy poodle.   So she she only get between 20-30 lbs.

And im crossing my fingers she is calm and nice!  🤞🤞🤞  please let her be completely opposite of Lucy.

But she was super sweet.  My girls LOVED her.  They had a hard time leaving her for 4 more weeks.

Grandpa and grandma come to visit.

Grandpa and grandma drove up to see us this weekend.  It was a great weekend to have them come up because it was cold and windy all weekend, so we had zero plans.

grandma Thornton sent these bride China dolls up with corrine to give to the girls.  Even willow got one.  They were really excited!  Fin even told me she is going to save it and give it to her kids one day.

And some baking happened.   Corrine showed them how to make little easter cheese cakes.

Devin and his dad took down the bathroom door and hung this slider door.  It's much better for that little tiny Hallway bathroom.

We went to the museum.  It had animal bodies. I think half of us thought it was gross, and half thought it was cool.  Finley loved it!

Out of place pictures,  but fin also had her last basketball game.  I was a little sad because it was the only game this season that Fin didn't make a basket - and grandma and grandpa were here.  But she did great anyway.  I think she is ready to have a break from basketball.   Volleyball starts this week.... so ready or not here she goes.

It was a cold - but fun weekend!  Its always fun when grandma and grandpa come.  And im thankful they are willing to make the drive up to see us.

This week!

A few cell phone pics from this week.  Can you imagine being Indie's little sister?  😄  I not saying that to be mean.  Im saying it in a sense of - life would never be boring if you were indie's little sister.   Indie brought up her baby doll stroller and has been pushing willow around the house.    Indie is actually really loving to wills.   She kind of reminds me of that little girl on bugs bunny, Almira?  Who loved everything to death.

Cute willow napping in her crib.

Sailyr got her braces off!!!!  She looks so cute and grown up with her pretty smile.

And we introduced the kids to jurassic world last weekend.  They were terrified.

A few funny things indie has said

While watching jurassic world - "the people just don't have enough guns!  THATS the problem!"

She found a gift card from The Children's Place.  (Clothing store in the mall) .  She asked me if that was where I adopted her.

As we were getting ready for preschool she told me she didn't want to go.  I told her everything they were doing that day to try and get her excited.   She said " mooooom, you always make it sound like it's going to be so great.  Then when I get there its just boring ".

I dont even know if these are funny when you just read them.  But I just feel like she says some things that are much older than she really is.  She is a smarty.

Cake #6

Its the weekend.   That means sailyr made a cake!  She made a 4 layered coconut key lime pie cake.

And I think this might be the best one she has ever made!  It is so good.  The cake is coconut flavor,  their is a layer of Graham cracker pie crust and key lime curd in between each layer of cake.   Then coconut butter cream frosting and roasted coconut flakes on top.

It is SO yummy!!!!

Ear infections and giardia

Willow started getting a cold on Wednesday.   I thought it was no big deal since I was getting over a cold too.  But Friday evening at 5:30 - a half hour before our clinic here in rigby was going to close for the weekend,  I decided to take her in for a check up.

I've been a mom long enough to learn kids ALWAYS get sick on weekends when clinics are closed and your only choice is to pay $500 to take her to urgent care.  🤑  you learn these things....

So I took her in, just to be safe.  And good thing I did.  She had an ear infection,  so she is on some antibiotics.   Her fever is gone but she still acts like she doesn't feel good.  Poor baby.

And devin got results back from his biopsy.  Turns out everything came back normal.  So they are going to just treat him for giardia,  and hope it takes care of it.  When we read about the symptoms of giardia- it does not sound like what devin has.

Its good that there is nothing wrong.  But also frustrating because he doesn't feel good.  Hopefully the giardia meds help.

Cheer clinic

Finley and Indie signed up for a cheer clinic this week.  Its a fundraiser for the middle school cheerleaders,  - the little kids go for an hour, learn a routine and then perform it at the halftime middleschool boys basketball game.   After watching sailyr dance last weekend, fin was kind of wishing she has signed up for dance this year.  So this came at a perfect time.    Indie is the 3rd little girl from the right.  With her hair in a pony tail and mid calf pants.

Fin is the girl right on the end with the green name tag.

And now fin is the girl being lifted on the left...

Indie walking off the floor waving.

It was so much fun!  Finley and indie both LOVED it.  Finley even told me she wants to do basketball,  Cheerleading,  dance, volleyball,  guitar lessons and horse riding next year.  😳   i might have to get another job to pay for everything she wants to do.

Of course indie loved it!

They came home and made up cheer routines in the basement.

Pie wars

Since sailyr has found a new baking hobby this winter, Devin found the show 'The greatest kids baking show' on food network. Its been fun to watch as a family,  and the best part was there is a boy on it from rexburg.   So of course we had to watch each week to see if he won.  But on one of the episodes the kids made pies.  After that the girls told me we needed to do a baking contest.  So they both found a recipe and the next day after school they came home and got to work.   Fin made a apple peach pie.  Sai made a strawberry blueberry pie.

I didn't get a pic of the end result,  but they  made devin and I judge their pies that night.

1 year old Willow

Cute little Wills.   A new chapter has certainly turned, because she has gone from a sweet, very content, very quiet baby to a busy, wants to be in the middle of everything, teething toddler.   :)  Oh boy, I forgot about this stage.  She crawls around the house getting into everything, but still unsteady so her hands slip out from under her quite often and she hits her chin, or she pulls herself up to furniture and she looses balance and falls.  She finds me where ever I am and sits at my feet and cries.  :)  Wanting me to hold her.  She gets mad when I lay her down for a nap or for bed in the evenings.  We are slowing down with nursing just because she is eating lots of food during the day, but I know she misses nursing.  And sometimes she just cant make up her mind, she wants me to hold her - she wants to be sat down -she wants me to hold her -she wants to be sat down.  She also has learned the game of tossing her binky out of her crib so that I have to come get it for her.  :)  I remember thinking with my other kids that at 18 months is when they went from sweet baby to sassy toddler - but I think Willow has been so easy and content for her whole life, so now it seems like that transition is happening quicker.  Although she is probably just becoming a normal 1 year old.

Dont worry - her new found fussiness has only increased her sisters willing to please her.  They are at her beck and call - helping her each time she makes a peep.  :)

So - maybe in the end she is just a smarty, and is playing her cards right.  :)

Either way we are all still obsessed with her!

Baby animals everywhere

I have been getting lots of baby animal pictures texted to me the past few weeks.  The girls are doing 4h lambs this summer.  So in January I asked around and found us a 4h group.  So the leader of the group has been sending me pictures each time new babies are born.  Today we went over to see our new lamb babies.  We are getting 2 of them for sailyr and fin to raise.  Luckily they wont come to us until may.   Fin was so excited!  She is the reason we are doing this.  Sai agreed to it, but we will see how it goes.  She is definitely not as excited as fin.

The lady we are buying our puppy from also sends us weekly pics of the puppies.   We don't know which one is ours yet, but they are super cute.

the kids are SO excited for the puppy to come home.

And my friend latisha's horse is days away from having a baby.   She told finley she could come see it after its born.  Although its not here yet, she keeps texting pics of baby horses for my kids to see.

We are basically creating a zoo this summer.  Devin is going to have to fence in our backyard to contain it all.
