Silly and cute.

Finley has been saying the funniest things lately.
Last week she came up to me and said "mom, didn't you know some of Sailyr's friends have moose teef". (loose teeth)
She also likes to make me go inside my closet and shut the door, then she turns on and off the light while I pretend like I am really scared.  She was doing this the other day and when she opened the door up to let me out she put her hand in the air and said "its the tour of the end".  She was trying to say 'its the end of the tour'... which, where did she ever hear that?
And this morning she was trying to roller-skate.  But after falling a couple times I heard her go to Sailyr and say "I was having troubers".  (instead of troubles.)

I think she is trying to grow up and wants to use all these big words but her little mind and mouth just are not quite ready yet... and it makes everything a little silly and cute.

dance

Saturday was our first dance competition of the year.  They both did so great, they were not nervous at all.  Sailyr danced at 9:15 and Fin danced at 9:30.  We were in and out of there so quick! It was great!  We have one or two more performances in the next couple months, so I'm sure I will be posting more pictures!

Brick.

I have no idea what has gotten into me, but I just want to work and work on the house.  This weekend the girls had a dance competition Saturday morning, and after it was over we drove to the stone and brick store.  And from about 2pm saturday - noon on Sunday we bricked the backsplash and island.
Here is before....

We will grout next weekend, so we have time and wont be living in a mess all week.   But it was so quick and fun.  I did most of the backsplash while Dev worked on the herringbone design behind the oven.
We just finished the island tonight, so it still has spacers in it.

I love how it turned out!! And i'm ready to start taking on bricking jobs. 😊 I actually really enjoyed working on this project.   I even did my own cuts with the saw and kept all my fingers.

We built a table

I have been threatening to do something about our dining room table (see picture above).  Oh my word, it was so so sad.  We got it for a great price when we moved into our home.  That was before I was taking pictures, and we did not have a ton of money to spend on furniture, so although I did not love it, we bought it.  We stripped the paint, and for some reason we painted it grey.  Mostly because  we had lots of grey paint, and Dev was in the mood to paint.  So it ended up being grey.  The past few years the girls have spilled fingernail polish on it, and its has had lots of love.  And I've grown to hate it more and more.... :)
We have shopped around a little bit, but my goodness the tables I loved were close to $2000.  So last weekend I somehow talked Devin into building a new table.  :)

Here are a few pictures from my phone.  The girls must have taken this blurry picture while we were at lows getting wood.

The girls helped a lot!  Dev let them help drill holes and put screws in.
And, Indie played in a laundry basket.  We also spent most of Saturday evening in the garage.  We pretty much neglected the kids... and Sailyr even had to make Finley dinner.  :)

Almost done!  I told Devin I wanted to take a heavy tool and beat the table up a little bit.... so it did not have such perfectly straight edges.  He let me... but he could not watch.  He went in the house until I was done.  :)  But once I was finished he came back out and he loved how it looked!

Then we stained it and we also bought resin to pour on top.  That way there are no crevasses for food to get stuck in, as well as a protective layer so it wont get dented if the kids play at it.  We had never used resin before... but it turned out great!

It looks beautiful in my kitchen and its big too!  We sized the table top to 7x4 feet.  Wide enough to set stuff in the middle, and long enough for 3 chairs to fit.  (now we can have 6 kids!!  ......  kidding.) I need to go and buy some chairs that match a little better, and Devin is going to build a bench for one side of it this weekend.  But I'm so proud of us!  We really work so well together, it turned out beautiful!  And we built it all for under $250... much cheaper than the thousands of dollars I would have spent on one similar to this.

Another project checked off the list. And now Devin is not safe.  He did such a good job I'm ready for him to build all kinds of things!

Front porch

I have been in project mode for about a week now.  Its a good thing my studio is staying busy, because i could name off about 25 different house projects that i want to do before summer.  Dev is awesome at getting on board with me and we make a pretty good team!  But today i checked off this item off the list....

Redecorate the beloved front porch!!!

Before.... (poor girl was looking pretty sad)

And after!!!   (I even took down our christmas lights!)
It also needs a good scrubbing after that long winter, but since its only 32 degrees today (heat wave!) I decided not to get the garden hose out.   But i love how my front porch turned out!!
She will be all ready for spring time!

Sailyr

Yesterday Sailyr came home from school and said "Mom, I think Ty is in love with me."
I asked her why she thought that and she said "cause he wanted to sit by me and kept holding my hand at school today."
I gave her kind of a grumpy look and was about to dive into the good touch and bad touch speech, but then she continued and said "But don't worry mom, I told him he could not be in love with me because I already have 2 other boyfriends."

oh, good.

She also made these signs for her bedroom door and the bathroom door yesterday, so that we will know if we can come in or not. :)

(I'm going potty)

(I'm not on the potty.)  ....I love the picture of the toilet.

This one is on their bedroom door.  (They are playing. busy. )

(they are not busy)

She is pretty funny these days!
