10 months old!

Today little Miss Sailyr is 10 months old.
We went in search of some leaves yesterday for "fall" pictures.
Finding falling leaves here in Tonopah was not as easy as you might think.
Thank goodness for the Church!! :)

At 10 Months old Sailyr is
  • Crawling Everywhere
  • Pulling herself up to furniture
  • Walking with help
  • Eats 3 servings of baby food at dinner time
  • loves bananas
  • can click her tongue
  • claps her hands when she is happy
  • Loves watching all the kids at Church, she is not shy towards other kids at all
  • is wearing size 3 diapers
  • can still fit into some of her 3-6 month old clothes
  • points at things
  • Can wave bye bye (although she thinks waving means daddy, I think she got a bit confused because we only really wave bye bye to daddy when he leaves for work.  So now when we say the word daddy, or she sees him she waves her hands, looks at me and says "dada!")
  • We have been trying to teach her sign language.  Little things like eat, drink, doggy, bedtime, stop.  But so far she has only picked up on daddy = waving :)
  • Is learning to blow kisses
  • When we ask her "where is Lucy?" She looks around until she finds her then grunts at her.
  • Loves when Daddy chases her down the hall
  • loves bath time
  • always is trying to share her crackers with Lucy
  • Gives sloppy kisses
  • dances to music
  • says mama and dada
  • has her 2 bottom teeth
  • laughs after she sneezes
  • laughs when she hears others laughing

I will have to weigh and measure her later tonight.

We Carved our Pumpkins...

 Sailyr had a Blast!!!

Monday, October 17, 2011

We just had our 2nd weekend in a row with no plans.  Not to be a downer or anything, but it has been so nice not having anywhere to go or anything to do.  I am defiantly ready for fall, Summer was starting to wear me out.

This weekend we
  • Cleaned the yards, wood shed, entire house, garage, and 2 cars. (wow!)
  • Read Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard.  Almost did not make it through, very sad and hard to read.
  • Tried to teach Sailyr to blow kisses.  While we were out to eat our waitress took our order and walked away, Sailyr turned towards her and blew her a kiss as she walked away. :)
  • Gave Sailyr about 1764 kisses. She knows how to kiss now, its so cute.  She opens her mouth as wide as she can and plants a big sloppy kiss right on your lips.  Friday night she just sat between Devin and I on the couch and went back and forth, giving him a kiss then me a kiss, him a kiss then me a kiss.
  • Went to eat at the Mizpah.  The old hotel/casino in the middle of town just opened up again.  They have a new restaurant.  It was really busy, but pretty good!  The Mizpah itself is just awesome inside, so old but beautiful.  Still has that old western Saloon feel to it, very fun.
  • Went and shot the gun with Dev at the rifle range.  While we were out there I took Sailyr out of her car seat and held her on the dirt road.  I had the window rolled down and she was standing on my lap, holding on to the door with her head out the window (relax- we were going about 100 yards at about 10 miles an hour, I had hold of her.) Anyway the wind was blowing her hair back, and she was sticking her tounge out.  She loved it, she kept laughing and bouncing up and down. Pure Joy.
  • Went to the park and some neighbor kids gave Lucy some candy.  She was on a sugar high, running around in circles as high speed!  Hilarious.
  • Teaching the story of Moses in Seminary.  Never realized how amazing all the women in that story are.  Wondering if I would have the faith to put my baby in a basket?? um.... probably not.

p.s. I also made a new video of Sailyr, I will upload it later this week!

If you came over to my house today you would see Dirty clothes in our entry way.  Every evening when Devin gets home he just changes clothes in the entry way and goes out back to split wood.  I have stoped being so OCD about it and decided to just leave his black dirty clothes sitting there for the next day.

You would see a tooth brush and a baby spoon laying in the middle of the living room floor.  They are Sailyr's favorite toys, and also help with her little toof that is coming in! (bottom left!)

You would see that the glass on the sliding glass door needs to be cleaned.  Little hand prints and doggy nose prints from lots of times looking out side.

You would see me standing the the bathroom trying to do my hair, Sailyr pulling herself up and holding on to my legs.  Walking around and around me, wobbly, and holding on tight.

You would see me loading the dishwasher with Sailyr right next to me, pulling out the spoons as I put them in.

You would see my scriptures and seminary book stuffed in the corner by the couch.  I am continually reading though out the day, so I the corner has just kind of become their home.

You would see bills on the counter.

You would see me walking back and forth, trying to keep the house organized, and Sailyr right behind me.  Crawling back and forth, until she finally gets frustrated and starts crying for me to just pick her up already!

You would see Devin coming home for lunch and Lucy and Sailyr racing towards him.  He has to pick them both up at the same time and give hugs.

You would see that Sailyr has more important things to do besides just laying there quietly when I am trying to get her dressed, so I am chasing her naked little body around trying to get some clothes/diaper on her.

Have a good weekend!

Getting ready for winter!

yesterday after church we headed out to the hills to get a load of fire wood.
We had gone out the day before, but we had left Sailyr with some friends because I was not sure how she would do out there, and it had been so cold I figure it was safer to keep her in.
But Sunday the weather was better,  we decided she will just have to deal with it. So we packed her up and took her with us.
She had a pretty good time, I don't know why I am so surprised, from all our camping trips and hunting she has proven herself to be a little wilderness baby.  A true Englestead :)
While we were out there she had her first oreo....
 And Loved it!
I just put the tail gate up on Devin's truck and put a blanket down for her to play in.  The entire time this is what she did...
Stood up by the side, had her spoon in her hand, and yelled as loud as she could "DADADADADADADADADADADADA"

It was quite funny.

I dont usually share this, but just this once I am going to.
This is a page out of my personal Journal...
Enjoy...

Yesterday was cold, so when Devin got home from work I had him build us a fire.  After dinner I gave Sailyr a bath and then wrapped her up in a towel and took her in by the fire place to put her jammies on.   Sitting in the living room next to the fire reminded me so much of last winter.  Bringing home a tiny baby in December, and having to keep that fire burning all winter long.  The glowing light that the fire place puts off, the smell, the ashes on the tile in front of the fire place.  It all reminds me of that wonderful winter we just had.
Last October I was very pregnant and was so nervous about all the changes happening.  November brought on baby showers and I got bigger and bigger.  Finally December came and so did she.  January, February, March and April was full of new beginnings, new changes, with the most beautiful gift Devin and I had ever received.

Today Sailyr and I went to the grocery store,  right when we walked in 3 different people came over and said hello to Sailyr, she just giggled at them.
We found the pumpkins and of course had to buy a few,
we came home and put them on our front porch.
The biggest one comes about to Sailyr shoulders,  she can stand up to it and beats on it like a drum with her hands.  Devin got home for lunch and laughed when he saw Sailyr standing up to a pumpkin, and because she has pig-tails for the first time today.  They are only about 2 inches long, I had to curl them because the stuck straight up like antennas.  I wanted to stay out side but the sky was getting grey so we went inside.  Devin went out to get more wood while I made lunch, Then the snow started falling.  Sailyr was standing up to the sliding glass doors with Lucy looking out side.  Birds were still sitting on the fence and seemed a bit confused about all the snow.  When we sat down to eat Sailyr came crawling over and lucy came running over.  I picked Sailyr up to put her in her high chair and Lucy continued to beg under Devin's feet.
Sailyr ate green beans and peaches.  Peaches must taste too sweet to her because she scrunches her face and shivers after each bite she takes.  But she keeps eating them, so I just keep spooning it out, laughing the whole time.  Often her attention falls on Lucy begging at our feet and I have a hard time getting her to eat again.
As we sat eating lunch with the snow falling, the fire burning, pumpkins on the porch, and socks on my babies feet I decided its going to be a wonderful winter!

Our week!

Well, Sailyr went and turned 9 months old on me.
I asked her why she did that and she just smiled and crawled away.
I guess some day I will forgive her, but not today. :)
We were in Panguitch for most the week so I did some 9 month pictures of here there.

We also got lots of time in with Grandma Lois, Grandma Farnsworth, Grandma Englestead, and even got to go see Grandpa Excell and ride in the tractor.

Then we headed out to camp.  Devin camped the entire week, but Sailyr and I rode out with Grandma Englestead that weekend.  They had a great time hunting and were pretty successful, as you can see. When i get devin's camera maybe i will post more hunting pictures.

Yay! A picture with Grandpa Englestead!!!  I had to sneak this picture in hoping she would not see me, luckily she did not cry.

She is walking with help and pulling herself up to furniture now.  Wont be long before she is walking.
On our way home we went over Cedar Breaks to see the leaves changing.
Below is my cabin, I had to get a picture of all the pretty trees!
Loooooove the cabin!
We had no tri-pod so we were just trying to balance the camera on rocks or stumps.  We were having the hardest time trying to get a good family picture.  In the pic below my hair was being wind blown...
This one is probably the best, although it was really dark and I had to lighten it up... so that makes for bad printing quality....
And this one Sailyr was laughing at me trying to run and jump over logs before the timer ran out, so she reached up and grabbed my face right when I got there...
I love this time of year, it defiantly got me in the fall spirit!  The leaves were so beautiful, I think we caught it at prime time with all the orange, reds, and yellows.  Makes me want to just build a little cabin at panguitch lake and just stay cooped up from September to May.
Looking at all of this made me really not want to return to dusty ol' Tonopah...

But as soon as we pulled into the drive way of our house a burst of purple caught my eye.  All of our Purple Cosmos bloomed! And they are huge! Some as big as my hand!
I guess life is beautiful no matter where you live...
You just have to find it!
