Lost Mountain

We had a ward activity to hike a mountain near our house.  I didn't think it would be enough of a workout so I ran 4 miles that morning just in case.  Boy was I wrong.  It was a beautiful day and the kids and I (Trav was at home nursing a sore back after a scout campout the night before and taking care of Kale) were excited to tackle the mountain we see every day.  Callen was excited to prove that he could hike all by himself since I had to carry him last time (not a memory I want to remember since his nick name is hulk smash and that is not because he is green).  Alexis was excited to see how far Jimmer could go.  No we didn't have Jimmer Fredette with us but we did have a better Jimmer than that.  He is by far much cuter than the original although this one is allowed to sit on my lap and likes his ears rubbed...

Our famous Jimmer
We hiked all the way up to the top.  The kids and Jimmer were troopers.  The view is amazing and there was an awesome breeze which was very appreciated at the top.  The boys had enough of the amazing view and headed down.  Lexie, Callen and I headed down with other from our ward.  Pretty soon we were in a few different groups and Lexie stayed a little further behind with some other adults and Jimmer.  Callen his buddy Ben and I took off down the mountain.  The boys were so excited to get to the treats at the bottom of the hike so they were motoring.  Someone maybe should have mentioned to them that I am directionally challenged.  We went all the way down the mountain on a big wide and beautiful trail somehow missing the little trail off to the left we were supposed to take.  When we realized our mistake we hiked halfway up the mountain again to find the missed path.  I was a little amazed with the determination of my 2 little 4 year old troopers.  They didn't complain.  They kept moving on.  I was very tired and those little boys were talking about school, dragons, stories, friends, ninjas and birthday parties.  All the kids in my group were awesome.  It was yet another lesson how kids are tougher than we ever imagine.  It turned into a very memorable hike and a good lesson.  Always watch where you are going and above all never let Rachel be the guide.

Padres Honor

We went to the Padres game for a night out because my dad Jim Davies was being honored. Why was he honored? Just because he's awesome. He's one of the tiny ants in the picture.

We stopped at Costco on the way down and got hot dogs, pop and churros and saved a boatload of money. The bad thing is that the boys are still hungry. Go figure. Its so fun to be down in this part of San Diego. Its so beautiful and Petco Park is the prettiiest ball park I've seen.

It was a fun night in celebration of an amazing Dad.

To the greatest Dad ever. It didn't take the Padres recognition for me to know how lucky I am!

It's Worth The Wait...

I saw the topic of the video and I was excited to show it to my older kids.  Then after I watched it I got even more excited when I saw my cousins kids in the video!  What a great concept and a great message to pass on to the youth.

I Paid My Way....

This is a family blog so I apologize in advance if this hurts your ears.  I had to post this because I was slightly bothered by this video clip.  Mostly because I paid my own way in college.  No I wasn't perfect but I did work summers, give up the cute clothes I REALLY wanted to buy and wrote the big checks to pay for my tuition.   Not only am I proud of that but I think it made me grateful and appreciative for my education.

ENJOY!
