There's a New "Chick" on the Block!

We've been blessed with an average of four eggs a day from our eight young hens. Yesterday we could hear the normal bragging cackles from the hen house, and there was one time when the cackling seemed a bit louder than usual. I chuckle inside every time I hear them because I know that means one more egg has been laid.

The big guy on the left is the size we normally get. On the right is the "New Chick's" first egg . . . ahhhh! No wonder she was bragging. How cute is that?

Monday, Monday . . .

It's this kind of day today . . . the kind that calls for one to just snuggle up with a good book in front of the fire.

"Welcome to the 60s"

Last night we had such fun at Roger Rocka's dinner theater featuring the popular musical/play "Hairspray" . . . the music took us right back to the 60s, an era we remember fondly. We were married in 1963 so we are quite familiar with the "goings-on" of the time. We've been going to Roger Rocka's for a number of years and this time, by far, was our favorite show. The acting, the singing, the dancing, the cast — all were spectacular!

Thanks once again, mid-western family, for turning us on to this place. (They give us two night's —of our season tickets of six— as a Christmas present, a tradition they started three or four years ago and we love it!)

Winter Surfing Fun

I want to brag a bit about my brother-in-law, Rick. This guy has been surfing since he was fourteen years old . . . that's fifty years ago . . . FIFTY! Is he awesome or what? He has the luxury of living near the coast both in Northern California and in Baja where they are currently vacationing. These pictures were emailed to me today by my sister Jackie . . . and I know she's proud of him too. I mean, really now . . . how many people do you know who are four months from being eligible for medicare and still have it in them to do this kind of sport? Okay, enough said . . . I've bragged enough . . . enjoy these spectacular pictures.

What an awesome ride . . . you can't see his face, but I know he'd be grinning from ear to ear like a kid on Christmas morning!

Not only is Rick fun to watch, isn't the spray coming off the top of that wave spectacular too?

I'm the lucky one!

When we retired twelve years ago, Ken developed a new habit . . . a really good one as far as I'm concerned. He took it upon himself to be Sunday morning's chef in the kitchen, no matter where we were. And this morning was no exception. I just thought I'd share what we enjoyed this morning. I mean, just check this out . . . awesome omelet made from eggs collected this morning from our sweet chickens, and stuffed with cremini mushrooms, bacon, cheese, onions, grape tomatoes, and broccoli. Served alongside were a fresh fruit compote (banana, blueberries, and strawberries) and toasted English muffins. I'm the lucky one—he knows how to make me feel special, and there isn't one thing about him I'd want to change!

Cooked to perfection!

What a pretty plate . . . oh yeah, the food tasted mighty good too!
