Money is useful
September 12th - 14th, Saturday - Monday.
Kay the next few photos were from the previous night; I sorted them by date so anything past midnight goes to the next day ._.
Party at Evelyn's house! Drinks and snacks, with a tiny beer pong table.

Jello shots!
Wardrobe error. We bought the sweaters at Gap on sale ==" only $8. Buy only lah. They're slightly different in colour lol. Anyway party was fun-ish.
13th, Saturday.
Today was the Freshman Fourteen! It's an inter-residence hall sports competition, each participating floor on each hall gets shirts (e.g. 2 Donlon, 4 Bauer) and they play a buncha sports! There was volleyball, street soccer, frisbee :D, basketball and a bunch more that I can't remember.

Volleyball and frisbee.
Damn sad, couldn't join cause we had to go to Wegmans (like Tesco) to prepare for a party the next night ):
At Wegman's. Ice creeeaaam.
I prefer the Cornell Dairy ice-cream though lol.
Bought a buncha stuff then went to Walmart to buy MORE stuff.
I would edit a nice big "FAIL" on this if I wasn't so damn lazy/tired. Dollar store, btw.
I bought the Beatles: Rock Band at Walmart :D Cost me a pretty penny, but it's worth it (I think). Gotta love rock band, gotta love the beatles!
Lol Bing Zhao (Singaporean, pro chef, pro super smash bros. player, in my writing class) called me while I was having dinner asking where I was, cause.. I'd forgotten about a wine-tasting party I signed up for .___. RAN (and took a bus lol) down to Collegetown, Bing Ming's place (they aren't related). Bing Ming's a singaporean Junior or Senior, can't remember, and he's majoring in Oenology - The study of wine. So yeah, pretty knowledgable lol.
We had 6 varieties of Riesling, good stuff.
Btw, learned the proper method to taste wine ahaha. Once the wine's in your mouth, inhale through gritted teeth (bubbling the wine a bit?); there's a real effect after you do this lol, hard to describe. After that, masticate. Aye, masticate. Chew the wine Lol. Whatever works, meh. Was good wine.
13th, Sunday.
That's the main entrance to RPCC, a community centre. They update the chalkings all the time, cause there's tons of events going on :D Penguin with chest hair lollol.
Football match! Every Sunday there's intermural (means within the uni) soccer. Somehow I'm in the team too, substitute keeper. I don't even play soccer looool. Was pretty fun though, saved a few nice ones, let in a coupla stupid ones. ==" Lost 3-0 ahaha. 2 from me. The ball has one too many dimensions for an ulti player.
Had a dinner party at Xian Yi's townhouse. The townhouses are like dorms, but.. townhouse-ish. Decriptions getting worse, it's 3am and I'm really tired, had a tournament today, sorrylah.
Bing Zhao (with some assistance from us) roasted two chickens, made bak kut teh (Singaporean style .___.), fried rice and stir-fried veggies. Really good stir-fry; chicken was pretty tasty too :D Brought Cindy and Jen along, but they left halfway. Kinda my bad, cause I was busy setting up Rock Band :( Stupid betul lol. In my defense Rock Band is awesome.
Midnight.. Cindy's birthday!
Vishal and I went to Nasties' to see what we could buy lol. Ended up buying ice-cream. Wanted to steal this cow, but.. soooomebody chickened out ahaha. Asked the counter lady "it's our really good friend's birthday, and she loves cows!!" (lie), and she said she would if it wasn't newly set-up D: There's a (free) lucky draw to win a stuffed Cornell Cow, and the balloon's there to promote it. I put in 2 entries ahaha.
We made smoothies with Vishal's blender, banana and peach (peaches from Wegman's) with milk and ice-cream tossed in. Sugar's stolen from Nasties' condiment stand *cough*.
14th, Monday.
What's thiiis? Student Assembly (council) campaigns have started. Too lazy to join lol. What's a council without these:

:D
Yeah so anyway malas to run again lah. Seems kinda boring (I was right, more on that another time).
Went to Target with Vishal, Cindy and Jen to buy some random stuff lol. No pics.
Makanmania, annual Singapore event where they cook lotsa Singaporean (read: Pirated M'sian!) food. The event's over now, was good, will blog.
Went to an Arabian place for Cindy's birthday dinner. It's called Aladdin's, very creative hor.
I'm not fat, just a bulat picture -_-
The questionable-looking, tasty-tasting food I had. Can't even remember what it was called.
Oddity:
About the sky bridge that connects Kay to Bauer (remember I'm in Court-Kay-Bauer lol). They told us not to throw objects or people off the bridge. Yeah yeah, bad joke.. not. Apparently some awesome guy was caught rappelling off the sky bridge a coupla years ago. Awesome.
Okay that's it for tonight, sleeeepy.

I saw the space station!
September 8th - 11th, Tuesday - Friday
8th. Tuesdays were my favorites (not anymore. Will explain another time), just a coupla classes and the earliest one's at 11.40. Anyway, frisbee tryouts in the evening, then had Astronomy lab at night. Was half an hour late thanks to frisbee lol! I'd made it through the first week of tryouts by now.
Oh yeah, frisbee people are fun all over the world. Everyone's got nicknames ahaha. Some are weird, some are cool, but there are some that are downright sad.
Examples:
Fluffer, Cannibal (eats babies; nice guy though), Gigantor (6'4''), Big Andy (6'8'' omg!), Turgeon McSplurgeon (real name Turgeon), Frank (a name this guy gives to girls at parties), Poops, Girlscout, Rook, Moon (his last name!), Grundy (also a last name!), Rainbow Chaser (wha.. ?), etc.
What fun =_= Good to see a fair amount of Asians on the team; there's hope for me yet!
Astronomy lab was fun. Learned a bunch about black-body radiation and did some spectroscopy experiments.
Those things are tubes filled with a certain gas (mercury/hydrogen/helium/etc. ) and we view them with some ubercanggih appartus on the table there. What do we see?
Hmmmmm. This pic's EXACTLY what I saw. Biiiig "hmm" lol. Weeeiiiiird.
9th. Wednesday. Can't remember much about this day, just that frisbee was held nearby today. Normally it's a 10-min bus ride (after a 10 min walk to central) away lol. Happiness, like 200 metres away from the field x)
Also,
Someone explain these. They're seagulls. Fucking SEAGULLS. Can someone tell me why the hell there are seagulls in Ithaca? Not just one or two; freaking flocks of them. We're nowhere near the damn sea! Wtf! Oh btw I realized seagull don't do the head-bobbing thing most birds do when walking around. Lol.
Sometimes I see a flock of birds flying overhead, in a V-formation. I'm like okay those are some organized crows. Then I take a closer look. Ducks. DUCKS ARE FLYING AROUND TOWN. I dunno about you fellow city-folk, but that's just pretty damn strange to me. Hmmm... too bad guns aren't allowed on campus. Maybe I'll spear one down for dinner one day.
Oh yeah,
See that? I saw something like that. Kinda sorta. Astro prof always tells us when to look out for Iridium Flares (when the sun's rays reflect off a satellite's reflective panels; supposedly the brightest thing in the sky when it peaks) and stuff like this. I've missed three Iridium Flares so far. Keep forgetting ):
Didn't forget this though! The International Space Station made a pass that night, with a space shuttle nearby. It was delivering a treadmill to the people aboard the ISS XD A part of the ISS was to be named after something, and TV host/Comedian/Satirist Steven Colbert won the poll. No part of it has ever been named after anyone living, so he was denied the honor. Consolation? He gets a treadmill XD
Lollollollol.
Yeah anyway, I saw the shuttle AND the ISS pass overhead! They were just two really bright specks, moving across the sky pretty quickly, like planes that didn't blink. The cool part was thinking to myself that the FREAKING INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION was right above me, along with a space shuttle! How cool is that! More on this later.
10th, Thursday. Highlight of the day:
Microwavable chicken burger from the vending machine. Tastes like crap. Some of the microwave stuff's really good though! Hot pockets are tasty, and some other brands of burger XD Nice that the vending machines take BRBs.
11th, Friday.
Astronomy prof's really cool.
This is him at the south pole. Damn yeng right!
The astronomy class I'm in is just introductory; the physics involved is damn kacang.
Demonstrating inertia of things going in circles. Yknow the thing where it goes in the direction tangential to it's orbit once you let go? Lol he tied a doughnut to a rope and swung it around abit, eventually the rope bit right through and it went flying into the seats. Yaaay. He did it with water balloons after class too! Outdoors lah duh.
Just a video of him spinning it. Not particularly interesting, only putting it up cause I recorded it.
Went to Nasties' at night to get some snacks.
The small selection of Cornell Ice-Cream they sell here :D Gotta visit the Dairy Bar one day.
Mmmmm. Ice-creaaaam.
That's all for tonight. Really tired; So busy lately, no time to blog! The coupla days after these are more interesting, but take longer to write about so I'll do that next time :D
In the meantime, here's a really sad dog.
):
Also, if you've ever wondered how cranes are set up, here's a fantastic video that shows us the whole process :D
And the usual astronomy photo :D
Zoom in on this one - Aurora over Canada, with the Pleiades visible near the moon!
Expenditure:
Random snacks and stuff, ~10USD over the few days.
Total, 10USD = RM34.6
.. on snacks =="

Sleep and Shopping :D
September 3rd - 6th, Thursday - Sunday.
Sept 3rd is a certain asshole monkey's birthday, and this is the only photo I took:
Yay. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOOL, ONE PIECE EYESHIELD PIRATE CLIMBING RAGNAROK CHRISTMAS PE2 1B1. K our 7 years of knowing each other has been pretty much completely described =.=
Also, this was the night that.. I got locked out of the room. Vishal was sleeping like a PIG, a FUCKING LOG, and he couldn't hear my banging on the door. The doors in CKB are kinda cacat-yet-high tech; if you unlock it in a certain way when going in, it'll auto-lock once the doors are closed. So yeah I got locked out.
Banged on the door SO LOUDLY and for SO LONG that James and Molly (floormates, one next to us and one right across) woke up and asked what the problem was. Called Vishal 3 times with James' phone, banged the wall between James' room and ours', still no effect. LOG.
Left a note "Vishal you piece of shit the door locked me out and you wouldn't fucking wake up! I'm in the lounge, wake me at 8.30." Early, hoping I'd be able to squeeze in an hour or two in my actual bed.
So I slept in the lounge that night. It was freezing cold. No blanket, no pillows, but at least there were (rather hard) couches. I coulda got the Resident Smthrather (Imani) to open the door for me but:
1. It was freaking 2am.
2. I can only do that once for free, next time it'll cost $5 to unlock doors.
Grrr.
NEXT, Sept 5th, Saturday
There was a poster sale right by Rawling's Green! So cool, had tons of really nice posters of all sorts. Movie posters, music/albums, pin-ups of really hot models, funny posters, famous painting-posters, etc. But expensive, like $15 bucks each? Crazy ah over RM50 for a poster. Zzz.
Beef shank for dinner. Plus really nice fried rice thing. The fried/steamed rice or wtv it is at Appel's really good :D
There was like a reception for all Asians/Asian-Americans outside RPCC, didn't look too fun so I skipped it.
Onto the more interesting part of the day... my Zeo! I applied to participate in a cool psychology experiment about sleep. The prof's a sleep specialist btw. Yeah anyway, what we do is use this thingy called a Zeo that records data about your sleep.
This is the Zeo. It's got a headband thingy (pic, front) that you.. wear around your forehead, which sends data based on brainwaves/wtv to the main thing (pic of pic, clock-like thingy). Not as uncomfortable as you'd think!
It's pretty freaking smart too, knows when you're trying to sleep, when you actually fall asleep, how much time you spend in deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep, etc etc, how many times you wake up at night (sometimes without knowing it), and it also knows whether you're sleeping or just napping. Smart. Graphs brain activity too lol. Well it had BETTER be pretty damn smart, cause it costs 400USD. That's close to 1.4k in ringgit. Good thing we get to use it for free :D have to return it after like 4 months though.
We (about 300-400 of us?) can use it whenever we want while it's in our possession, but we HAVE to use it during certain designated weeks. It comes with an SD card and a special card reader that you can use (with a computer duh) to upload data to the site. Dunno what the prof uses the data for but whatever, it's cool. Plus we get extra credit (+2 to final grade out of a hundred!) and I can use it to see how messed-up my sleep actually is. Also, the participant with the BEST sleep (the Zeo also gives you a sleep-score in the morning XD) gets to KEEP the Zeo! Some consolation prizes too like shirts and stuff but.. free 400USD item! I want lol! Too bad my sleep sucks. More on this later.
Sept 6th, Sunday!
Went to Waterloo Outlet Mall with the Singapore Association. Like the name implies, stuff there's pretty damn cheap lol. Plus a discount booklet-thingy for Cornell students! Problem is the place is an hour's drive away =="
Didn't take many photos, but there were TONS of shops. Like 50 big names lol. I bought.. 130USD of Underarmour! That's a brand that specializes in this stuff you wear under your clothes (over your underwear =="), long-sleeved/legged, that protects against cold. Really, really tight, but pretty comfortable. They market it as "second skin".. so yeah, it's tight. Can really run around in the winter with these :D Frisbeeee. And it's good for diving (frisbee again, not scuba!). Bought two tops and one bottom lol. Will post pics eventually.
Lunch was at a food court there, Arby's. Not bad, but not great.
Wanted to buy some thick winter clothing (for like snowboarding/skiing which I'm DEFINITELY gonna do in winter/spring), but my Msian credit card.. reach limit liao. RM1k lol, wtf low limit, didn't know, and my USA card wasn't ready yet, so I couldn't buy it! Was gonna borrow money from friend to buy the winter clothes, but we were in a rush and the queue was super long. Damn CB lah, the place is so far awaaay ):
No queue -> Card kena reject -> saw friend outside -> friend offers to let me use card -> go back in -> super fkg long line and it was time to go. Wtf a herd of people just materialized outta nowhere.
So.. what was my Zeo score last night?
Pretty bad lol. Not much sleep (went out drinking with some dorm-mates), way less REM sleep and deep sleep than I should be getting, and way more light sleep. Garrrgh. Woke up 6 times through the night, and took about 6 mins to fall asleep. I got a Sleep Score of.. 64 I think? Wen Jun gets consistent 90's, and I'd eventually get a 100+ and a 40+ =.= Will post more pics of the Zeo data/graphs sometime lol.
Astronomy time!
Taken in Saadat Shahr, Fars province, southern Iran. Saadat Shahr is also known as.. Astronomy Town! Apparently people there really like stargazing Lol. That's the Milky Way up there btw.
Expenditure:
Underarmour, ~130
Arby's, 10
Total: 140USD = RM487

Stars, Skits and Sandwiches.
Sept 1st & 2nd, Tuesday & Wednesday
My schedule's pretty set now: Psych, Astro, Math (2110) and Econ on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, Writing (Food & Writing lol) and Math (1120) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Frisbee and Frisbee on MonTuesWedThursFri and sometimes SatSun too. Not joking one bit.
I don't know how but I keep oversleeping for my Tues/Thurs FWS (First-year Writing Seminar) class. It's at 11.40, and considering how Vishal has class at 9.05 every day, I've got it really good. Garrrr. Alarm clock isn't forceful enough.
FWS and math were pretty good, math guy's so fun lols. Really quirky.
Bought lunch from.. Louie's Lunch! That red truck parked on North Campus, in case you've forgotten. They open till 3am every day, really good for late-night cravings :D
Chili Dog and BBQ Boneless Wings. Chili Dog was okay, Wings were really good :D Couldn't finish the wings, so I put some in the common fridge. Was gone the next day lol. Funny how no one would steal like.. money, if left in the fridge, but food/drinks just disappear.
Frisbee was intense, 'nuff said. Wait no, not enough said. REALLY, REALLY, F**KING INTENSE.
One of the A-Team players skying someone at a tournament. Wtf is with that reach. Lols I was okay on throws and drills, but did pretty well on the sprints! They do 40-yard dashes here, instead of the usual 100m sprints back home.
Hell, we don't even have yards. I don't understand freaking imperial units. People go like "Whew, it's a real scorcher today, over 90! " and I'm like what the FUCK are you talking about, that's near boiling.. oh wait, Fahrenheit. Stupid units, at least it's linear.
Though I had an astronomy lab class this night, forgot that it only started the next week. Got back from frisbee, showered and ran (hobbled quickly, more like) down to the Clark Labs. FAIL. Since I was down on Central, I decided to head down West and try the dining halls there. Half the residence halls down on west campus (not for freshmen) have dining halls! Ate at the Alice Cook house, was pretty good.
Pasta, Bean things (the red paste next to the pasta) that tastes like barley, rice with crapp mapo tofu, okay-ish beer-battered cod and fries, and a wonderful plate of Chinese stir-fry on rice. Mmmm. Apparently the cheesecake there is really good, but I was late and they were about closing ): so no more cake lols.
I also bought a Cornell 2009 Frisbee.
Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?! McGraw Clock Tower, Bear (mascot), Bridge Across Gorge, and frisbee players! :D Will buy more if I get on the team. Place orders now!

As part of my econs class, we did an online experiment thingy on supply and demand lols. Damn cool, we're randomly split into buyers and sellers, and each buyer/seller has a different buying/selling price. You put your "goods" up for sale at a certain price, and if someone put up an offer to buy it at or above that price, a trade is made, and we get new prices every 5 rounds of trading. Pretty cool, we got to actually see how the prices reach equilibrium.
Nice, huh? :D You can see how it kinda tapers down at the end; this becomes more and more apparent through the rounds, until it's pretty much one horizontal line. So fun.

Wednesday's Astro class was pretty cool. He tried a weird "experiment", more for fun than anything else: flashlights were handed out to specific people, and everyone was told to hold up their iClickers (which have little blue "power" lights on them).
Lights on..
Lights off! That's the screen btw lol. He's got a webcam-thingy hooked up which he uses to show perspective and stuff. Can't tell from this shot, but we made the Big Dipper! Ahaha. Note the superman figure stuck on the globe lol. He clamped the camera right next to superman and rotated the globe to show us the angle of sunrise/sunset from various points on Earth. Apparently the sun rises at an angle of 48 degrees (related to the latitude) from the horizon in Ithaca. Hmm.
Luuunch. Salad's actually really good.
I'd never noticed before, but there's a really nice sandwich bar set up!
Shelf with a few types of bread, and a toaster thingy on the left. Kinda reminds me of breakfast at hotels lol.
There's a Panini-maker. I just made up that name, but it's a.. grill.. presser.. toast.. thingy. Put a finished sandwich in it, close it shut real tight and wait half a minute! It's a magical machine, makes any sandwich with cheese taste absolutely divine.
Nice selection of stuff to dump on your sandwich. Few types of meat, fish, various cheeses, vegetables and even stuff like hummus lol. Yummy.

So fun.Vishal, Jean (French dude on our floor) and I went for a free performance at Risley (another residence hall up in North). They have their own dining hall AND a theatre wtf.
Performance was by a coupla sketch/improv groups. Can't remember the sketch one's name, improv group was the Whistling Shrimp.
Improv is basically.. improvisation. Someone explains the rules of the "game" and the audience gives out random suggestions lol.
Sketch group.
The Whistling Shrimp improv group. Pretty funny bunch lol! They tell us a situation then ask us to shout out occupations, objects, books, movies, etc. and they use those and (spontaneously) act out a skit. Good fun! :D Hehheh too lazy to explain the situations/skits they did. Sorrylah, it's getting late. Sleep time.
Astronomy picture of [the] day, a beautiful long-exposure shot of the night sky over Grants' Pass, Oregon. Notice how they seem to revolve (we're the ones revolving!) around a point - Polaris, the North Star.
