Playing in the Mud

Our neighbors are having a pool built so we get a lot of dirt and water runoff in front of our yard.  Devin decided he really wanted to be one with the mud and we let him.  He had so much fun playing in the mud and then splashing it into the ditch.  Why not let him play, the clothes and Devin are both washable.

Rollerskating

Another summer bucket list item was rollerskating.  The kids earn free passes from the library and we try to go a few times over the summer.  We found the best time is to go mid-afternoon when all the summer camps are gone and the younger kids are home taking naps.  We get the rink practically to ourselves!  This was something new for Alec and he loved it!

Rock Climbing

The kids love to rock climb.  I'm glad the gym I use has a rock wall that the kids can use.  We went several times over the summer.  Easy activity that they all love.  Kaitlyn is really good about scaling those walls and getting to the top!

This was Alec's first time and each time he went up, he'd get a little further than the last time.  We'll have him to the top eventually!

Great Granny "O"

June 7-9, 2016

Todd's grandmother passed away and we went out to Utah for a final good-bye.  She was such an amazing woman, always happy and upbeat.

  She'd send a homemade birthday card to the kids every year with a crisp $2 bill inside.  Some of the cards would have a picture of Great Granny O and Great Gpa and a story inside the card that went with the picture (we have all the cards she ever sent).  

I remember one night many years ago, Todd was traveling, I was pregnant with Alec, and Abby had just broken her leg.  I got a call at 4:00 in the morning.  It was Granny "O", she felt prompted to call us and see how things were.  I loved that she followed that prompting and checked in on us without knowing what was going on.

She and Grandpa O worked in the South Jordan temple for 20+ years getting up at 4:00 AM to get there.

Granny "O" was a painter and painted the cabinets in her home that she and Grandpa have lived in for 60+ years.

And she loved sunflowers (they were bright and cheery just like her) because they followed the sun and she wanted to follow The S

on.

Devin and the Neighbors

We love having these longhorns in our backyard.  They make great neighbors!  This spring there have been more and more babies and Devin loves watching them.

Abby's First Concert

Several months ago our neighbor bought a Groupon to see Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert.  We thought it would be fun to take our daughters and let them have their first concert.  Abby had no idea who these singers were, there were a couple songs that were familiar.  Overall they had a good time and enjoyed massive stadium.

First couple days of summer

June 1 & 2, 2016

Since the weather still wasn't great, we headed to the indoor trampoline park for our first full day of summer break.  The place was pretty empty - probably because everyone went the day before on the last day of school to celebrate.  The kids had a great time jumping around and it was fun to watch little Devin on the trampolines.

Day 2 of summer had blue skies so we made it a swim day - there were going to be lots of swim days and friends over for the summer!
