Raise the roof!

This week our roof is being raised!

Seriously. The metal slats on the pitched portion of our new home are going up. It was a little nerve wracking to pick the style & color and not be able to visualize the end result.

But, good news! I think this is going to work! The color seems to match our windows and doors. Yeah!

At this point we are financially committed anyway. Nonetheless, it is nice to be financially committed to something that settles well with you aesthetically. We are anxious to see the accent pieces on the front of the house. With any luck, we'll love those too.

First black eye

Is it too much to hope that it is also Mac's LAST black eye?

Can you tell that his right upper eyelid is purple?

Well, baseball season has begun. That means we are at the ball fields 4 nights a week AND when we're not there, we are creative at finding things that resemble baseball bats and we swing them with wreckless abandon.

And... hence the black eye. It was TJ's doing with a stick. I'm just really grateful that it hit the eyelid and not this poor chap's actual eyeball. PHEW! Dodged a bullet!

USC game goers!

Where to start? Todd is not one to miss a home game at the McKale Center. You know that.

But, we had this 24 hour stomach flu going around the house and... wouldn't ya know... about 4 hours before tip off, the big guy went down with it (or rather, came up with it--quite literally, if you know what I mean. YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!)

I rallied! Ike is our only night owl, so TJ was NOT the 3rd ticket holder stand-in for the night. I mean, tip off was 1 hour AFTER the kid's 7pm bedtime. So, Spencer was the stand in. It seemed rather fitting since Spencer is Ike's middle name (true story!)

Neither of the 4th graders was too keen on being photographed by or with the 40+ year old mama, in case you could not tell. But, I was relentlessly persistent about trying to get them to smile for me. And yeah, maybe those 2 never smiled in the same photo, but I'll take it! One and one at the line!

Woah Woah Wednesday!

I picked the boys up from school today and well... SHOCKING! I tell you.

Ike has been cast to play "the dead guard" in the up & coming 4th grade production of... Macbeth.

He is very excited (he doesn't have a speaking role & is relieved about it).

He was still "in character" upon my arrival for school pick up. Let me just say: I almost had a heart attack.

Come to find out, it was one of his fellow classmates (Julia) who volunteered to help with make-up that was responsible for Ike's practice run. Not bad, eh?

TJ may or may not have been a little too quick to offer to give him a more convincing black eye for the big stage day. Ahhhh, brotherly love. A real black eye...could it be more convincing than the makeover?  Let's hope we do not find out anytime soon!
