Funniest. Blog. Ever.

Tonight might just be the best night of my life. I came across the funniest blog about being a mom I have EVER read! Maybe everyone knows about it, but if that's true then shame on you for not telling me!! I put a link up on the side of our blog. It's mixed in with our pictures. I'll fix that later. Anyway, GO READ IT! It's hilarious.

You're welcome.

A Lesson on Sharing

I signed Zack up for soccer this fall. I thought he would love to make new friends and chase after a ball. But I don't think we have ever sat Zack down to tell him how to play a real game of soccer.

So during the first game, Zack wouldn't leave Todd's side. He kept saying he didn't want to even play, because those other kids wouldn't share the ball with him. I told him over and over the point of the game was to take the ball and not to share it, but he just didn't get it. Hopefully by the end of the season he will understand the point, but maybe not. I think he's more of a football player anyway. :)

Boomer Sooner!!

Last weekend Todd and I went to my FIRST OU game. Seriously, I've lived in OK practically my entire life and am only now experiencing Sooner pride.

What's wrong with me?

While we were gone, my Aunt Melinda and Uncle Mark watched Zack and Brody. Apparently, Zack and Aunt Melinda had this conversation:

Zack- "Hello, Mr. Penis!"

Melinda- "I'm not laughing at that, Zack."

Zack- "I know, because it's naughty..."

Oh, how I love how my children represent our little family when I'm not around!

My dad also had his something-year high school reunion this past weekend. I'm not sure how many years it's been since he graduated, I only remember trying not to gasp when he told me. I guess you can take what you will from that. :)

Anyway, his twin brother came to town and convinced Zack he was the real grandpa. Never gets old with those twinners! I can finally tell them apart, but when I was little I just called them both Dad.

All-in-all, it was one fabulous weekend.

Here are all my dad's brothers:
Here are all my dad's brother's women:

Aunt Melinda chased Zack all around the yard. I think he is in love with her. :)

One of these handsome fellows is my dad. Can you guess which? Probably not. He's the one on the right.

Argh!!!

This pirate turned three a week ago. Not to brag or anything, but his party was pretty awesome. We had a professional photographer (thanks, Ellen!), I hired some babysitters for Brody (thanks, Grandma and Grandpa!), we had a surprise attack from Captain Hook (thanks, Todd!), and I decorated the house, dressed pirate-y, and painted either a mustache or a mole on everyone.

I'm not sure if Zack will always remember this little party, but I will. He was in total heaven. We love our sassy Zackman more than words can say. More pirate pictures to come later!

a little lesson in anatomy

Zack is a little obsessed with his body right now. More particularly, his penis. He really can't get enough of it. It's always "my penis" this and "my penis" that. Seriously, isn't he going through this a little young?

I tried ignoring it. Then when that didn't work (and he started shouting "PENIS" in public), I tried the whole "Penis is a special word that you ONLY use in special times..." Well, that backfired in a major way. He started throwing it in randomly at the end of sentences. For example, he would say, "Can I wear my jeans today?...penis" or "I'm thirsty....penis." He also made up a new word. Zack now says the word "pena" when he really wants to say penis, but knows he shouldn't say that word. So when you hear him screaming, "PENA, PENA, PENA...." you'll know what he's thinking.

So now I've just decided to go with the flow. I don't encourage it, and when he brings it up I either ignore him or I ask him if he has a penis (which he responds "yes, Mom! And so does Brody!). Today after I asked him that he told me I needed to go buy one since I don't have one. Not gonna lie, I laughed pretty hard at that which probably didn't do anything to discourage him from talking about it. I'm thinking if I give him permission to talk about his special area, it might lose some of the magic and he'll stop thinking about it so much. Here's to hoping!

Here are some pictures of my potty-mouth child. If you don't want any play-dates for awhile, I completely understand. :)
Zack's "bad guy" face:
Think he's tired of taking pictures?
This is a field by our house. It looked so pretty tonight.

HHS Reunion 2011

I know my favorite part of the reunion should be something about my own kids or spending time with Todd, but it's wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I loved having all the family time, but what I loved more was watching my seven-year-old niece on the beach. She reminds me so much of myself. Evie is a little fish. She loved everything about the beach, and I'm sure she could have lived on the shore forever if her parents let her. She was constantly shell hunting, digging in the sand, running in and out of the water...melting into the beach to become one with it. I was just like her at that age, and she made me miss the seven-year-old me.

We left for the reunion June 21st, right on Brody's birthday. We celebrated the night before so I'm sure he didn't miss out on anything. Look how cute he was in his birthday hat:
He decided he wanted a spoon to eat the messy frosting with:

So we drove, drove, drove, and ended up at South Padre Island. The reunion was so fun! The girls all went for fake tattoos, fake nose piercings, and I even sneaked out in my bikini a couple times. Pretty much, we lived on the wild side. :)

Stepping out onto the sand for the first time. Super exciting.
Zack checking out the waves:
Rare sighting of yours truly:
I love this pictures because no one is looking at the camera:
"One, two, three...JUMP!"
I know it's blurry, but I LOVE this picture of my brother with his daughter, Evie. So cute.
We had a talent show at the end of the reunion. I signed Zack up to dance thinking he probably wouldn't do it, but I would at least try to make him. Well, no bribing needed! He was begging to go dance in front of everyone, and when his turn came he hopped right up and got his groove on. Here he is dancing with his cousins:
Zack's favorite thing to do in the hotel. I'm sure the people below us were pleased. :)
Going out to dinner the last night there:
Zack about to stab Brody with his fork:
And a quick funny story: I told Zack today that pretty soon we were going to get him a bunk bed. He looks at me and says, "But mommy, I don't want a bonk bed, because then I'll bonk my head on it!" It was pretty funny. Big difference what one letter makes!

More posts coming soon!

...and this little piggy turned one!

It's pretty big news around these parts (as in our house...) that our baby is one! I dressed the little Brodster up tonight and took some pictures. Five bucks says your'e smiling after you look at them and didn't even know it. Brody's smile is contagious!

Smiling yet? (hope so, because I really don't have five bucks to give ya...)

And just a funny little side note. Right after taking the picture of him trying to stand up in the wagon, he face planted in it...of course, right? Well, I thought he was okay, and then the next picture I took was like this:

You might need to click on it to make it bigger, but there is blood all in his mouth! He bled quite a bit, poor guy. But he was a brave model and kept on smilin'. :)
