Hi there! I hope wherever you are, you’re having a happy Hallowe’en. Here in Vancouver, BC it’s raining.. Actually, raining is a nice word for what’s happening outside – it’s more like a torrential downpour. Ah well! It’s not stopping the kids from knocking on my door every couple minutes!

 

I played along with this week’s TSG inspiration challenge: TSG179

One of my favourite fall drinks (my other fav: Salted Caramel Mocha… YUM!). Anyway.. Such a beautiful fall photo that inspired me to use the cutest set called Pumpkins on the Vine (and the sentiment from Fabulous).

 

She’s coloured with Copic markers and pastel chalk pencils. I used my Silhouette to cut out a bunch of the shapes (the cool label and clouds) and some pretty pearl lace finished it off!

Tonight is our fourth and final night of new release peeks from There She Goes Stamps, and we are finishing up with a set that is sure to appeal to all the cardmaking, scrapbooking, camera wielding stampers out there!! Torico’s final set this month is SURE to impress the camera hound in us all! Photography is a part of everyday life, and a growing hobby for many, and how much more FUN would it be if you had a camera like one of THESE??!! A picture truly is worth a 1000 words, and with summer vacations, graduations, and well, EVERYTHING, coming up, what a PERFECT set for the photographer in us all. Full of cute sayings, and TONS of images to create the PERFECT card/scrapbook page/project, you really can’t go wrong!!


Like the other releases this month it was so much fun to colour up this image! I let the camera do the talking with a really CAS design. The die cut was done with my Silhouette and I had it in my spare die-cut box, thank goodness I kept it because I think it complements the camera perfectly!

Well, we are on our final day of this month's Blog Hop Challenges, and I REALLY think you all are going to LOVE this one!! I made a technique-heavy tag for this final day of fun… I hope you like it!
 

It was love at first sight with this little guy! This tag was a total mish-mash of ideas, products and techniques but I think it ended up looking like a cohesive thought… COOL!
Design Details:

• My boss from Clipper Street taught me the tag technique that she learned from TIM, himself.. It involves ink pad refresher and distress inks.. The end result is a leather texture.. pretty neat feeling.
• clouds were cut out with the Silhouette
• image is coloured with Copic markers then cut out. i sanded the edges to get a rough texture.

I had a great time making this clean and simple card with a new-ish set called Fabulous.

You can see the subtle pink background, right? That’s all hand-stamped, then I misted it with a little bit of light pink glimmer mist. I cut the banner out with my Silhouette and misted it too (you can’t see that in the photo.. but it’s there…) and adhered it to the card with a a glue pen. I chose black to balance out the black of the sentiment. (The sentiment is from the gnome set “My Little Friend” )

It’s getting close to our 2-year anniversary. It feels like it’s been longer, is that bad? It’s just that we haven’t had an easy road (I didn’t expect it to be), but I thought by now my husband would have a teaching position of some sort, but he’s still on-call (a substitute teacher..) and he doesn’t work a lot. That paired with debt and moving and dealing with a son with ADHD there have been a lot of challenges thrown our way and I consider ourselves relatively successful at this marriage “thing.” So far…

Every time Ian and I hit some sort of milestone I think Oh yah, it’s our (insert memorable moment here) and that reminds me, I need to work on my wedding scrapbook. I have no idea how many photos I am supposed to scrapbook, (I have close to 600) but I only have about 10-12 layouts done and that’s not NEAR enough. I really should try to put some multiple-photo layouts together, eh?

For this layout I used some Technique Tuesday papers from their Perspectives line. They’re not your typical wedding colours, but they just so happened to coordinate beautifully with my photos.

I had a lot of fun using my Silhouette digital cutter to cut out a bunch of shapes. I also intentionally designed the layout so I could do the sewing technique you see above (a line of objects sewn down the middle).. I’ve wanted to try that for a while now.

A paper crimper. I've known about them of course, heck, I've even used them when teaching at my LSS, but did I buy one? No.. I don't even have a reason besides I didn't need it. I felt it was unnecessary.. It still is unnecessary (it all is, really...) but I saw a video the other day that totally inspired me. Don't you love it (read: HATE IT) when bloggers do that?? I watched Sarah Martina's video on how to make your own corrugated cardboard embellishments and it sold me on this ancient tool. You may have noticed a little crimping on yesterday's card, well here's some more. I promise I won't crimp excessively any more after today!!

I've had a busy week in my work-life.. If you don't already know, I teach at an amazing high school teaching the best subject ever: MUSIC! We're leading up to the end of term 2 and that means one thing around here: playing tests!! Argh!! But I've also had the opportunity to get my vocal jazz group out performing at a local festival and we were also featured recently in an article for the local paper. Here's a video clip the reporter put together... The article will be out this week and I can't wait to read it.

So.. Valentine's Day! I had a great day with my hubby.. I started the day off by going to MAC to try on some of the makeup from the new Wonder Woman collection.. it's awesome! Here's the finished product:


I asked for a dramatic look, and I got a dramatic look!! The makeup artist that did my makeup kept saying the foundation had a "dewy" finish and I had NO idea what that would look like until I saw my skin under the lights.. Yep.. It's dewy alright. lol... I was a makeup artist for a while and I LOVE LOVE LOVE makeup, and it's always fun to get your makeup done by someone else and learn a trick or two while you're at it! If you live near a MAC you should book an appointment for a makeup application. It's always free and they always do a really good job.

A sentiment this beautiful can stand alone on a card. I added a Prima flourish and a die cut for a little pop of colour!

I have one more card to share.. My friend Charlene is the featured stamper this week at SCS and I had the pleasure of picking one of her cards and casing her.. It was great fun. Here's my card based on hers:


I had a lot of fun using some old and new products on this fun little card... I inked up Wingin' it for the first time with some Memento inks and found some coordinating elements to add to the card. The old- BoBunny ribbon, the new - Die cut scalloped border by 3 Bugs... It's brand new and I love it!

I have some truly beautiful Valentines papers and stickers and instead of hoarding them like I usually do, I'm using them. Last year I didn't make very many Valentine's Day cards but this year I'm singing a new tune. Yes, this year I've already made 25 valentines and they got dropped off at the flower shop today!!

I was hangin' out with some friends last night when I got a little *beep* on my phone letting me know I had an email. I looked at it and literally went "OH MY GOD" in a high-pitched voice! "I AM TOMORROW'S FEATURED STAMPER!!" After I calmed down and realized no one knew what I was talking about, I explained what it was: It's a weekly challenge on SCS where the hostess picks one stamper per week from the thousands of people who upload to the site, and you have to pick one of their cards to be an inspiration for a new creation! Today that's me!!! My friend Kim was hosting this week and chose me.. Aren't I a lucky girl??? So needless to say, I had to play along...

Thanks to the generosity of the people at Pink Paislee and the wonderful people at SRM I had the pleasure of playing around with a couple of their paper collections. Yesterday and today all of the Design Team's creations are being featured on the SRM Blog, and I am thrilled that I can share a couple of my projects!

The first collection I cut into was their "Hocus Pocus" line:
