Challenge #69
Use a digi
This weeks challenge is easy...just use a digi, which most of us do now adays, anyways.  I know I hardly ever use my hard stamps anymore.  Maybe once in a while for sayings, but even then not too often.   This week I got to pick a digi from Bonna at Kelley's Kids.  I picked this one called "Miss May Spray".  This was a tough one for me because of the water.  I tried to get opinions on it and they were mixed, so I just decided to leave it as it was.  I'll try and do better next week.  All the papers were from my scrap pile, not sure who made the butterfly, and the rubons are from American Crafts.
Recipe: digi-Kelley's Kids "Miss May Spray", paper-scraps, rubons-American Crafts, distress inks-"tea dye", "weathered wood", and "broken china", stickles-"waterfall", and punch-Martha Stewart's "Floral Lace"

I didn't like the way my first card came out so I made a new one using the freebie from this weeks newsletter.  It's free to sign up, so there's no excuse not to.  Plus, you get wonderful freebies from some terrific designers.  I followed the sketch from FTTC this week.  The papers are from MME.  I used two sizes of scalloped circles dies to cut out my digi, added some ribbon, flowers and a tag that I printed out on my computer, cut out with a Labels" die and distressed with ink in Broken China from Tim Holtz.
Recipe-digi- Kelley's Kids "Polly in her Night Shirt" paper-MME "Love Me Do", flowers-Prima "Fleurs de Prima" and Colorbok, ribbons-Maya Road (red) and the white is scrap, ink-Tim Holtz distress ink "Broken China", pearls-Kaiser Crafts, die cuts-Scallop Circles & Labels.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Here's the sketch for this challenge, along with the digi we had to use.  St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, so it's time to get a jump on the cards.

Recipe:  paper-Stitchy Bear Stamps (JLJ Designs, Floppy Latte Designs, and Panda Bear Designs), "Enchanted Gold" embossing powder, stickles, Glitterbabes Digi, Clover metal pieces

I got these great digi papers free by spending $10 on Stitchy Bear Stamps, which was very easy, by the way...

I'm also entering this card into the following challenge:

Challenge #46
Birthdays

Since there are two birthdays in Feb and there was one in Jan. on their design team, Meljens is all about celebrating birthdays this week.  So here's what I came up with for this challenge.  You also had to use words on the card.  No blank cards for this challenge.

I think I finally got my mojo back.  Part of it's because we are almost done with the bedroom and bathroom remodels, although it's still a pain in the butt to get to anything.

Recipe: digi-Meljen's Designs, paper-(patterned) Bearly Mine DesignsStitchy Bear Stamps (Panda Bear Designs), scraps-rhinestones & ribbon.

This card  also fits the following challenges:

Sketch

This weeks challenge was a sketch by Bev.  It helps
put a card together, but I always seem to have problems
not making the card look bulky, when it's lots of layers
(plus borders) need to be added to a card.  The image
is a Kenny K's January freebie
The paper is from Making Memories and scraps, "Double Heart Punch" is EK Success, and the stamp in the middle of the heart is from Stampin' Up.  I also added the brads to kind of keep it together and for the FTTC to "use hardware".

I'm made this card to also fit the following challenges:
FTTC #102-Use Hardware
Simon Says-Animal Antics

Maki Jones is our challenge host! Maki is challenging us to a theme! The theme is all about food and drink! Create a card or project that showcases some yummy treats either real or stamped!

This is the first time for this type of challenge for me.  I got this stamp on CDAC.  It's from "Robin's Fettish".  Sorry, I don't remember when the challenge was from. Obviously, my "food" part is the candy canes.

They have five different designers that donate digi's for challenges.  It's a great way to build up your digi files, get to know new designers and make new friends.

This week Silke Ledlow is our challenge host! Silke is challenging us to 3D Holiday Gifts! A card can be made to go along with your gift, but a 3D Christmas gift item is the main challenge!

I used paper from, yes you guessed it, Graphic 45.  Both the images are from Incy Wincy.  The card is a Diaper Folded Card that I found at www.astickysituation.com from Joni.  It's got a funny name but is actually very cool.  Hope you enjoy.  Only a couple more weeks of Christmas cards.  I'm starting to get burnt out.  Just like i did with Halloween.

I inked the edges with distress ink along with the flowers.  Stickles were added to the flower tips.

This week Dee Jackson is the challenge host. Dee is challenging us to create Celebration cards!

This came out as perfect timing, since one of the guys my husband works with at the PO is retiring.  Actually, he has brain cancer and hasn't worked for awhile, but his "official" party is tomorrow.
I decided I wanted to make something different than a regular card, so I made a tri-fold card.
The font is called "Griffen".  On the middle page, I knew I wanted to use this image, but it was just to figure out how to incorporate it.  It was a free digi.  I do apologize to the owner, as I didn't mark down where I downloaded it from.  On the last part-well, what can you say?  It just went with the rest of the card.  I got the image from Bug-a-boo Digi's.  I love Jodie's characters.
I can't take credit for the witt, though.  The expression came from Retirement Sayings and Quotes.

Challenge 48 - Special Folds and Flowers

Hi everyone.. and welcome to our latest challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.
Paola's our hostess for the entire month of September and this week, she's challenged us to create a card using a special fold - something other than a standard A2 type of card - and to add flowers to our project.
I made the diagonal_double_pocket_card.  Don't ask me why!!??  It took FOREVER to do this, but it was well worth it.
I decided on the "Siku & Shiya" image,  paper from MME,  flower-Prima's "Belle Artes", and for the tag I used rub-ons from Daisy d's and the corner punch is Fiskars.  I also added some scrap ribbon to set of the diagonal lines.
I'm also using this card for the Flourishes #82 challenge-tickets.

I used a bunch of scraps for this card.  I am also entering it in the Just Magnolia challenge for the "Cracked Glass" challenge.  Also the aPapertake challenge for the sketch.

It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host. This month’s host is Emily Keaton. Emily is challenging us to use Pins! All kinds of pins will do. Think stick pins, hat pins, safety pins, straight pins, diaper pins, even mini clothes pins or a brooch-style pin. We would love to see what you create!
I cut the back off my ginger bread man and glued a pin that you can wear on it.

August 2nd, 2010

This week Dee Jackson is our host. Dee is challenging us to a limited supplies challenge. The limit? NO Embellishments. What does this mean? It means that we let the image we use speak for itself. We CAN use ink, stamps, paper, punches, die cuts, and coloring tools. We cannot add rhinestones, prima flowers, buttons, pearls, ribbons, brads, etc.
I got this cute little guy from Stephanie at Stephanie's Stampin' Spot.

I used Flourishes "All That Glitters" stamps.  For the pin part, I took apart the gingerbread man button and glued a pin back on the back of it, so when you are done with the card, you have a pin that you can actually wear.

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC76)! This week Barbara Anders is the host. Barbara is challenging us to an Inspiration Challenge! Barbara has chosen one gorgeous picture to get inspired by for our cardmaking. You can obviously recreate the look or be inspired by the colors or other elements in the photo. We would love to see what you create!
I tried recreating the colors and flowers, but came way off.  This is another one that I just don't like.

We would love to see what you create using felt!  I used a Buildmalarna stamp.  For the felt part, the felt is from Queen & Co. felt borders that I cut back.  I added stickles in "Diamond" & "Copper" to the insaide of the flowers and ribbon of the flowers.

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC74)!
is our challenge host this week. Maki is getting us all in gear with a theme challenge. We are celebrating Christmas in July! No explanation necessary for this theme. Just have fun and make something festive!
I used my new HM stamp.

FTTC73

It is the last Tuesday of the month so we have a challenge host. This month’s host is Cindy Coutt’s. Cindy is giving us a fruit inspired chalenge. You can actually create a card with fruit images, use fruity colors, or be inspired by the shape of fruits.
I used the fruity colors.  I thought this stamp would be perfect, since she is holding fruit.

FTTC71

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC71)! Cindy Haffner is our challenge host. Cindy is challenging us to embossing. There are a lot of different types of embossing options to choose from, such as heat, stencil, plates, folders, scoring, textured die cuts, and more. In addition, there are many different techniques to combined with embossing. You can also use anything from vellum, clear cardstock, or other textures for your embossed projects.  I did both trypes of embossing for my card.  I used lots of Tim Holtz/Ranger products for this challenge.
