A Halloween Sneak Peek

Her costume was a hit - little blondie blue eyes as Dora! She was in heaven, and loved when people called her Dora.

We got back from our trip to Salzburg on Friday (so gorgeous) and we had a Halloween carnival with some other expats on Saturday. We will get dressed up again for Halloween this Saturday, and probably sometime again if Kelsey gets ahold of her costume. More on this coming soon. OH, and the countdown begins...ONE MORE MONTH until we go back to the states to visit! Not that I'm keeping track.

Aiden Four Months Old

He started sticking his tongue out a lot this month, which is cute, but he got his first cough/runny nose this month. No doubt it's not a coincidence. Kelsey had it first.

He started "talking" a lot too. He just yells or screams for no reason. I think he likes the sound of it.

UPDATE ON KELSEY:
Meanwhile Kelsey is our resident toilet flusher. If you flush without her, you're in for a crying fit. She is also tearing the pages out of her favorite books while in her crib. Today she unrolled the toilet paper all over the house. I thought I would have dealt with these things when she was younger but not now!

One Week Off

I have a question...more like a poll.

Tally HAS to take a week off (rough European life, I know). It's coming soon, and we're debating where to go. Here are some of our choices:

Geneva/Western Switzerland - we'd get to visit the Bergs and lots of cool stuff - but both weekends are bad and during the week we wouldn't get to see much of Jacob.

Ascona - The Ticino part of Switzerland, very close to Italy

Salzburg/Hallstatt - think Sound of Music, Hitler's Eagle's Nest, and THIS:

This has been one of our Webshots screen savers for several years. I've heard wonderful things about it and I've always wanted to go there. Tal, however, says it's too far and expensive. I say, we may not be in Europe that much longer, and what's 5 hours each way in the grand scheme of things? But I'm not trying to sway your vote.

So leave a comment and let me know what YOU would do...or any other places we should consider.

I'm playing a bit of catch-up if you can't tell so that I can have the year complete. It's all leading up to the GREECE post...coming soon (haha). This post will be moved to 6/30/09.

So many cute ones but since they're nakie, they wont be posted

Tschuss!
We have a gas station just down the street from us that has a little grocery store. We seem to go quite often and we've become friends with the non-english speaking staff. That's where I learn my Swiss German!

Grindelwald

Here is a post I am just now getting to. It will soon be moved to June 13, 2009.

The Coop grocery store was offering a special: spend 100CHF and get a discount pass to ride up to Jungefrau. For those of you who don't know, this is called the "Top of Europe" and is the highest point reachable by train (I assume in Europe). It is normally 200CHF to go up and this coupon would allow you to go for 65CHF. Deal! I spent the money (easily) and got one ticket. Then we were lucky enough to have a friend give us another ticket. Sweet!

So we scheduled the Saturday, got all ready and then I read online that pregnant women shouldn't go up to that altitude. I confirmed with my doctor. Big bummer, but at least Tal could go. We got into Interlaken at 10:30 and were told we were a half hour to late (halb stunden zu spaet). They were SOLD OUT. WHAT!? We were bummed, but were determined to do something fun.

We decided to drive to Grindelwald and had a great time exploring. It was a GORGEOUS day - sunny and clear. First we stopped in a field to get a good view of a few Alpine peaks.

Then we drove to Grindelwald. It was such a cute quaint town with gorgeous views of the Eiger. This isn't the Eiger, just a cool mountain I liked.

This is the Eiger.

We can't wait to go back again!

September Play-By-Play

I have so many random pictures from this month that I thought I would just list them out by date. Of course, there are other posts not included in this that happened in September (i.e. our trip to Italy/Connellys in town and Kelsey's birthday festivities). Maybe I'll get more creative with October.

September 10th:
Aiden's shirt is from a family in our ward. It's made by a Swiss brand, but it's in English. It says, "Mr. Wood the Beaver, Forest Fun with Friends." What is that supposed to mean?
September 13:
Kelsey and Tally watching Football

September 15:
A trip to the store on the train
I can't believe I fit all three heavy things in the stroller. Aiden even fell asleep on Kelsey's lap!

This is one of Kelsey's favorite songs.

A clean baby...

...is a HAPPY baby
September 16:
He's such a smiley baby, but it's hard to capture on video

September 18:
On Friday morning, the day of her post poned party, she woke up at 1am, 4am...and then watched Dora for who knows how many times before going back to bed at 7am. Yeah, she was sick with more than pink eye. My mom thinks it was hand, foot & mouth disease? but I'm not sure. She had a slight fever, threw up once, looked like she felt crummy, and had a rash looking thing on her hands, feet and face for a few hours.
We went to the lake for a bit in the afternoon to get out of the house and I ended up taking way too many pictures. She was in a surprisingly good mood at this point.
This was the first shot - whoops! Tried to capture the moment too soon and needed to change my settings from indoor to outdoor.
Much better, but Aiden wasn't having any of this
I like this one
To eat or not to eat...she loves throwing these things (don't really know what they are but they fall from the tree at this spot). Kelsey loves finding them - like an easter egg hunt - and then throwing them in the water.
"No Mommy, NO!" - one of her favorite phrases
Singing her ABC's
This girl loves to LAUGH.
Back indoors for more playtime. Aiden was cold, apparently, and needed Kelsey's hot pink blanket...
...and princess crown. That's where he said enough is enough! Too girly for me.
These two already love to be around eachother and yes, Aiden is only 2 months old. He's obviously leaning on Kelsey (tricky) but he holds his head up so well and loves to "stand."
I walked in that night to find this:
Kelsey had taken the cushion off the rocking chair and laid it on the floor. She's reading "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" which my grandma just sent her for Halloween.

September 21:
At the Dinner Table

September 22: TUESDAY - a trip to the Farmer's Market in Zurich

September 23rd:
Jucker Farm

My friend Jenna mentioned to me that she was going to meet some friends here so I invited myself, then Mary, then my friend Kathrin for a photoshoot who then invited her friend Barbara for another photoshoot. SO, luckily I have great friends, Mary & Jenna, who watched Kels & Aiden while I took some shots of darling little Italian boys and their gorgeous mothers. Then we got to play around in the pumpkins. This is where we had Kelsey's 1st birthday. I just love how they decorate it with pumpkins in the fall. My friend Mary said this is her piece of heaven. Ditto.

The big pumpkins in the top left corner pic will have the tops cut off, be hollowed out, and used for a boat! Then they race the boats. These pumpkins way several hundreds of pounds. Kelsey kept trying to get in the picture with Jenna, Lexi & Mia. I really think she thinks she is a member of their family. She prays for them too.

She loved climbing all over the pumpkins, until she got stuck

Don't know where her bow went

September 24:
Silly Sausages - Kelsey's singing/dancing play group. That purple thing is "Silly Sausage." She's not so sure about him.

After naps, we had a chill afternoon
Kelsey helped me unload the groceries
CRASH! Hehehe....repeat.
September 25:
Rapperswil Kinder Zoo with Emily & Charlie
Emily came all the way out to Rapperswil to meet up with us and I'm so glad she did. We had a nice, relaxing afternoon talking and playing with the kids. She also brought be back my non-pregnancy wardrobe (I had her pregnancy clothes, what a lifesaver!!). It felt like I had a whole new wardrobe again. It seriously took me over an hour to re-work my closet, sort through it, and to fit things back in! So here are some shots from the zoo.

September 26: Sharing a Crib?
I put Aiden in Kels's crib for a bit. She loves it when I do, and he mostly loves it. As long as she doesn't drop a book on him and is gentle with him. I love the last shot with her laughing, like she's telling him something funny. I also love that they are in pink and blue. I've got the typical boy/girl color thing going on. I should probably branch out on clothing colors ;).

Here's a terrible video of me sneaking up on them. The picture on the wall doesn't actually go there, just temporary. Tally's grandpa Price painted it and gave it to him (and has since passed away) and I want to put it in the kids room, just don't know how/where yet. I ruined this little moment b/c I couldn't keep quiet!

September 28:
A beautiful sunrise over Lake Zurich
September 29:
Playing at the Park with our friends
Ashton, Lydia, Emily & Kelsey hiding out in the fort.
Ashton & Lydia are moving back to the states next week and we are sad to see them go.

Peek-A-Boo! Emily and Kelsey playing again at last. It's been a little while since the girls have been able to play.

Checking out the donkeys

September 30:
My little thumb sucker

And my little diva
My friend Thu just sent her this dress and I thought it was so cute with leggings.
The blue really brings out her eyes.

She's so happy because I opened her door to let her out
She likes to take her shoes off every time we're in the car - 2 minute drive or 2 hour drive - shoes come off. How's a mom supposed to be on time?
