Not sleeping

Sorry for the recent lack of content on Allison's blog. I've been busy with work and Allison has decided that napping/sleeping is not something she's interested in!! She is teething (I think) and having a growth spurt (I think) or she has just decided to be really difficult. With each month she grows stronger and louder! She delighted us with her new and improve scream on several occasions last night. We are hoping it was a one time performance but I have a feeling there will be many on core performances in the coming weeks/months. Oh Joy!!

I promise to post some recent photos before this weekend!

Bath Time

Miss Allison loves bath time! She spends lots of time perfecting her free-style back stroke (if that's even a stroke). Her kicking and crazy arm movements make me laugh every time.

Favorites from the past few weeks

Here are some pictures that we've taken over the past few weeks. Allison holding onto her 'lovie" from Mrs. Quinn, making a silly face in her swing and in her carseat on the way home from Charleston, SC.

Taggie Ball

Here is Allison playing in her crib with the taggie ball. She loves to grab all the little tags and shake the ball, it makes a jingle sound.

Jim's First Father's Day

Well, Jim had to leave town today. So, we don't have much to report about his first Father's Day. He had to go to Dallas for G3 simulator training (a computerized cockpit mock-up that allows the pilots to practice flying the jet). I did manage to get a picture of Allison pouncing on her Dad to tell him " Happy Father's Day".

Swinging & Screaming

This is Allison enjoying her swing and discovering her scream. Make sure you have your speakers on and turned down low.

MOTH Picnic 2008

Allison and mom volunteered at the raffle ticket table during the MOTH (moms on the hill) picnic 2008. Allison was a great sport to sit out in the heat and help with the raffle. She also gave free smiles to most of the raffle ticket buyers. She enjoyed the children's music sung by Rocnoserus. The music was from their new album "Dark Side of the Moon bounce". Our table was pretty close to the amps, and I worried Allison would get overstimulated from the loud music. But she didn't, she enjoyed watching the toddler mosh pit that formed in front of the stage.

I was looking forward to hitting the buffet after our shift at the raffle table. However, a storm blew in and we had to head home quickly. We walked to the picnic...stroller, diaper bag, cookies, extra clothes, umbrella, etc. The picnic was about 1.5 miles from the house. So, as soon as the dark clouds rolled in and the winds picked up. We were on the move. I put Allison in the ergo carrier, crammed everything else into the stroller, and started walking as quickly as I could back to the house. We got a little wet, but managed to beat the worst part of the strom home. The saddest part of the story is....I had to leave without eating any of the cakes, brownies or cookies at the picnic!! Those that know me well, understand how hard it is for me to walk away from such treats.

Sadie Our Savior

Today was my first day back at work (well kind of). I recently found a wonderful babysitter to watch Allison while I finish a contract (for speech-language therapy) with a family here in DC. Sadie came over earlier in the week and we worked out a plan. She seemed comfortable with Allison from the start. Of course Allison was all smiles, as she usually is when making new friends!

When I arrived home...I braced myself for the possibility that I would hear Allison screaming inside as I walked toward the front door. Instead, I found Allison asleep in Sadie's arms, Yeah! I can leave her with someone other than Dad, and return to find her safe and sound.

Splish Splash

Allison went swimming for her first time today!! We went to her friend Amelia's house and had a great time in the pool. Amelia's mom is from Australia and her dad works for the Air Force at the Pentagon. They are great people and we enjoy hanging out with them. We are looking forward to more tiny girl swim sessions this summer and cookouts for the grownups.

rolling right along

Allison rolled over while playing in her crib on Sunday afternoon. She had one arm trapped under her body. So, it did not go smoothly but I'm counting it as her first roll over (back to tummy).
There was lots of grunting and heavy breathing but she did it!

Piggies

Allison found her feet at approximately 10pm last night. She has been having fun reaching for and grabbing them ever since.
