This morning James, Beatrice and I are going to a great little bookstore to trade in a bit of our library. We need some new material...
Here are some bookish images for you to enjoy!

Illustration Inspiration: A House Is A House For Me
This adorable book by Mary Ann Hoberman is illustrated by Betty Fraser. I think it is so cool. I want so many pages framed for the kids' room!
...and a house is a house for me!

Birds and Bunnies
I've been decorating some clothes for The Boy. White onesies can get old, you know... And, yes, I am aware that he will not appreciate my hard work. He will cover these with spit-up and mustard poop just as fast as he can.
This one is inspired by Tomie dePaola.
This one is front and back.
I am aware that only the last one is distinctly boyish and the other two could go either way. That's intentional as I don't think a newborn has anything to prove. He won't care how macho he is.

What I'm Reading
and
I'm interested in Geisha as a subject for my art. Their floating worlds fascinates me. There is so much beauty and mystery, tradition and ceremony. And grace. I love that they leave a bit of skin bare on the backs of their necks to remind us that underneath all the makeup and costumes there is a flesh and blood woman.

6 Months Gone
James took these pictures. I got this dress for pennies at a church sale! As it is not maternity, I will wear it post pregnancy but with the bow in the back. However, I don't know if I'll wear it to church what with the Hindu symbolism all over it, haha!

Yay! I Won!!!
I won this auction on ebay and now I'm waiting patiently. I hope my son's feet aren't too fat!
I love, LOVE vintage leather baby shoes. Beatrice has some that (sadly) she got a hold of a few days ago. She bit a hole in the top of one!
Too bad!

Illustration Inspiration: Maurice Sendak
Everyone knows Where the Wild Things Are, but Sendak's oeuvre is so much vaster. Some of my personal faves are:
Outside Over There
Pierre I Don't Care
and Chicken Soup with Rice.
Pictures of the Process
I was dying to show you these yesterday, but our internet service was not nearly on its best behavior. So here they are now. Later, I'm hoping James will help me take some good "after" shots.
Jake and Lucy came over and we all went to the supply store for the products Lucy would need. Then they showed us a great little vegetarian Indian restaurant called SWAD. Later Lucy worked on my hair which first turned bight yellow before she toned it down...
I know not everybody post pictures of getting their hair done, but this was my first time. I've always been the same brunette. Now I'm blond and pink!!!

Welcome to the Workin' Week!
I didn't put the prices... You can see for yourself at Anthropologie. Too expensive for the likes of me. I just need to take a few tailoring classes and make them myself!
