Happy Birthday to our 5 year old!!

The invitation this year...I have found that sewing on paper is really fun. I will be making more projects using this method.

One of the things the kids have come to expect on their birthdays is a shirt made by mom. This year I came up with tallied birthday candles. I used felt and just sewed them on with the sewing machine.
Here's the kitchen before the we had all of the food out. We served dinner...
wild rice soup, veggie bars, pita chips and hummus, homemade rolls, fruit, and fancy sodas.
We decorated the windows with all of the kids current artwork. This has become a tradition for every holiday. I think it makes the whole room way more cheery.
We had lots and lots of balloons and a make-your-own-party-hat station.
Getting ready to blow out the candles on his cake. I'm not known for my cake decorating skills as you can see...but I try :)
Opening his presents. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful friends who came and made Ezra feel so loved and special.
The treat bags contained some of Ezra's favorite things: a homemade craft kit, a dum dum sucker, a Balsa airplane kit and a list of Ezra's current favorite books.
Our walkway was lit up beautifully with ice candles. See the birthday boy in the doorway anxiously awaiting his guests?
The lights seemed to be a big hit. We made them by putting a smaller plastic cup inside a bigger one. We weighted down the smaller one with sand then filled the larger with water. Then we added some pine needles and froze them. Once they were frozen we popped off the containers, set them outside in the snow and put a tea light in the middle. It was the perfect winter-time touch.
