Marco's Fourth Wedding

Exercises, the morning after :)

From right: the bride's mum, the bride's eldest brother and his better half. This picture is here to show you a tradition of (many, not all) Estonian weddings. A young, single woman is usually chosen by the newlyweds to be the 'wedding seal', which means that she has to apply generous amounts of red lipstick to her lips and kiss every male guest. Have a closer look at his cheek ;)

The groom's mother was of the opinion that this picture should be titled 'The Three Stooges'. Marco with the groom's uncle and cousin.

Aaaaand another tradition. More often than not, Estonian brides take the surnames of their husbands. The couples usually think of ingenious ways of ceremoniusly getting rid of their maiden names: they might write it on a piece of paper and tie it to a balloon, for it to fly away; or put the paper in a bottle and drown it in a river or a lake; or set fire to it etc. As this was meant to be 19th century America, the bride wrapped the paper around a stick of dynamite, of course. The groom took care of the rest.

This wedding's theme was 19th century America. The ladies' outfits ranged from more or less demure to very provocative, while nearly all the male guests were dressed as cowboys. The wedding was held at a motel near one of the largest lakes in Estonia, and a good time was had by all.

Tallinn Maritime Days

Not a replica, but an actual ship, the Krusenstern, but the queue was five times as long as the ship, and we didn't feel like spending two hours standing in line.
