Then came the science fair where he placed FIRST in the third grade. He gets to take his project to the District science fair in May at Dixie State College.
He's also spent April playing soccer with the city league. He's been a great player, the best on his team in this mom's opinion, and he's scored about a dozen goals. The best thing about the season is he's a very good sport, and he tells the other team "good shot" or "good job" when they doing something good, and he's kind and encouraging to his teammates as well.
Yesterday was his school's track meet, which was held at Dixie High School. Only 3-5 graders get to compete, so Kason was thrilled to finally be in 3rd grade and be able to go! He ended up taking 3rd overall in the 400 m, 4th overall in the 200 m, and 1st overall in the softball throw. He gets to go to the district track meet for the softball throw. Pretty awesome!
Kason and his friend Jorge and run FIVE marathons from October-March at school. Most kids only run on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch recess (when the PTA is there to mark their laps), but Kason and Jorge run almost every recess, almost every day. There are only a handful of kids who even finished 1 marathon, but Kason and Jorge have run over 100 miles. Amazing. The down side to this is the really nice shoes we bought him in November have holes and we had to get a new pair this month.
