Raylene's Navy QOV

Hey there! Here is the first real quilt I have finished with the new Statler Stitcher. I used a combination of computer designs and hand guided free motion.

Since the quilt is going to a sailor, I wanted the background to look like water...the swirls and pebbles once again fill the bill.

For the two Nave Stars I selected a block design from my Statler.

The wide boarder has cathedral windows and in retrospect I do wish I would have echoed them...but at the time of quilting I didn't. The little boarder just has some back and forth loops that I did free hand.

The log cabins are just ditch stitched. I love the tiny flags that Raylene made in the centers of the log cabins. This quilt was a joy to quilt. Raylene is one of the best piecers I have ever quilted for. Her seams were all so flat and just perfect.

And here is a quick shot of her pieced back.

What a great quilt!

On my other blog I posted a quick tutorial for my favorite way to make Half Square Triangles. I was trying to explain how I do it over the phone and I just couldn't make the words make sense...so I resorted to my blog!

OK, back down to the quilting lair! Have a great day!

Some Edge to edge designs

Hey there! Here is just a tiny sampling of the over 13,000 designs my long arm can whip out for an edge to edge design on your next quilt. In my opinion these could work for more modern quilt tops. Tomorrow I will show some of my more traditional designs.  I have such beautiful feathers and florals.

I charge $.015 a square inch for edge to edge designs. ANY edge to edge. Why stick with stipple when you can have feathers, pebbles or swirls?

My New Long Arm!!!!!

Hey there! Would you like to see some shots of my wonderful new Long Arm? Here she is while we were putting her table together. David knew it was important to welcome new machines into out home. My new Machine is a Gammill Optimum Statler Stitcher. She has a graceful 30 inch throat. Sounds big, but she is more petite than my older machine, Lady June, who dwarfs the new machine with a 36 inch throat and about 8 more inches of stitch-able space when quilts are loaded on the frame.

My new machine does not have a name yet...I am open to suggestions. I bought her from Beth in KC. Beth is wonderful.

The new machine has the capability to to be computer driven with one of over 13,000 digital designs or I can hand guide it. I have been having a great time doing both since the machine was dropped off and set up last week.

This is the little keypad that I use to make selections on the computer screen.

This is the computer screen.

It has a lovly light bar...so I have lots of light down in my subterranean quilting lair.

This is the sample Beth taught me to use the Statler Stitcher with. She has been so helpful!

After I quilted all available space on the sample above, I loaded up some more junk fabric and quilted even more! I wanted to practice more with edge to edge designs and repeating pattern designs.

This was a nice amish like feather, but I went back in and tarted it up some. I do LOVE the breeze track on this machine and table!

By this time my little boys were with me and wanted to choose some designs. Star Wars - X wing and Tie fighter.

And a bunch of Australian critters. As well as me just having fun. I do love my new machine.

I have been working a bit on this Scrappy Trip along in my spare time. This quilt goes together really fast. Are you on Instagram? I post lots and lots on instagram...it is just so easy with my phone right at my finger tips.

These fabrics are just a bunch that I really like. Most of the pale fabrics are Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander I just think that fabric plays so well with everything.

Here is the tutorial for this scrappy block on Bonnie Hunter's Blog QuiltVille Bonnie is awesome.

I really like how these fabrics play together.

OK, folks, I have quilts to quilt and dinner to make.

Have a great evening!

Jennifer's (TFEQ) quilt

Hey there! Happy Sunday Morning! I have finally finished quilting and trimming up this magnificent quilt by Jenny. Its name is TFEQ (Totally F****** Epic Quilt). A bit racy for a quilt name, but it does have the very best fabric ever in it. 100 glorious courthouse step blocks. I bet you can play eye spy with it and pick out the Suzuko Koseki fabric and lovely bits of Denyse schmidt and independent fabric from various spoonflower designers. All the text fabric is just wonderful.

I know if you have been using instagram or twitter you have been suffering with tons of pictures of this quilt...I just love it so and I am so delighted with how it has turned out. Each quilt seems to take on a life of their own when they are here in my studio and this quilt and I have had such a great time together.

I used 2 layers of batting - one wool and one cotton. Both Quilters Dream. So the fluff factor and texture is off the chart. OK, so lets just look at pictures.

My New Gammill arrives tomorrow! I will need some more quilts to quilt...so if you have a top or 2 (or more) that needs quilting shoot me an email!

I had to give this little pin up girl some more flames.

Have a great day and happy quilting!
