It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It seems that we got an early start to the Christmas season this year and have been loving all of the traditions and joys of this season!  Now the countdown is down to 8 days left till Christmas, but it feels so nice to know that we're all set & ready - and now we can just soak in the love and traditions of this time of year!

We've never gone the Costco route for trees before, but we did this year and loved it!  Andrew says this must have been the heaviest tree we've ever had - but it sure is beautiful!  Micah helped put the star on the top this year.  :)

I had some really wonderful help hanging ornaments!  :)

It wouldn't be Christmas without some Santa Cookies!  Yum!  Samuel did a Christmas cultural presentation at school and talked about his Great Grandma Audrey & England - and then brought some of these in to share.  These very special Christmas cookies are a true labor of love, and they have been a special part of our family's Christmas traditions for years!  Passed down from my Nana, to my Mom, to me & now to our children!

We had a fun time bowling at Andrew's work Christmas party!  If you zoom in close you can see Andrew's beard ornaments!

We've been decking our halls with some handmade snowflakes too!  Samuel took a liking to these and now our sliding glass door is covered with them!  Aren't they cool?!

The boys were so anxious to build and decorate their gingerbread house!  It was fun - and messy!  Take a look at how many nonpareils are scattered on our table (& not to mention the floor!)  Ha!

Samuel was also a great help to Daddy with hanging up Christmas lights outside!
The final look takes my breath away every time I drive home!

In other news, both Micah & Kendall got a sweet surprise in the minivan set-up!  Micah graduated to a real buckle and Kendall is now facing forward!  Kendall loves sitting in her "big girl seat" and Micah loves the independence of buckling and unbuckling himself!

Speaking of Micah, we were so proud of him at his Christmas celebration at preschool.  He and his class went up on stage and sang "Good Good News" in front of hundreds of parents and family members!  Even though he practiced a bunch at home, Micah chose not to sing, or do the hand motions while up on stage - - but, that didn't matter, we were so thrilled that he participated with his class!  Yay, Micah!  We love you buddy!
And to give you a look at how priceless this performance was - here's the video clip!  Andrew and I think he was the funniest one on stage!  It still makes me laugh each time I watch it... and let me just clarify, this video is too good to crop!  So here's the whole song - about 2 1/2 minutes!  We just love our little guy so much!

Lastly, we made a stop to visit Santa Claus at Sunshine Gardens.  This year Samuel enjoyed talking with Santa, but Micah & Kendall both decided to keep a safe distance from this jolly, bearded fellow...  (As you can see I tried to bring Kendall up close, but she wouldn't have it...!)  Here's hoping for next year!

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

Fall Fun (Halloween, Thanksgiving & More!)

Something just doesn't feel right about writing about Christmas, unless I've posted at least something about Halloween & Thanksgiving!  I know we're all in the Christmas spirit around here, but I want to bring you back for just a bit to show you about our family over the past month & a half!

For Halloween this year, we had Steve from Minecraft, Spiderman, and a Hula baby.  :)

We tried to dress Kendall up as a pumpkin (like her big brother's were when they were 1) but, she is too girly and wanted something with a little more flare.  Luckily, I had this adorable hula girl costume on hand!
The boys had fun carving their own pumpkins on Halloween.  Kendall loves to color, so she decorated her own little pumpkin too.  Samuel's favorite part of Halloween night was passing out the candy to all the trick-or-treaters!

Earlier in October we attempted a photo of all three kids by the pumpkins.  This was the best one we got.  Out of literally 23 pictures, this was the best we got!  :)

Samuel played soccer this fall, and his last game was Saturday, November 14.  He played on the "Bolts" with his good friend since preschool, Collin.
Samuel was so excited to get his own trophy at the after-game celebration and his coach said some really sweet words about Sammy - awarding him with Most Improved as well as Best Attitude all season!

This Thanksgiving we celebrated with the Whites the Saturday before and with the Davidson's on the Thursday.
The gathering with the Whites was also a time to celebrate our niece, Leia's 8th birthday!
Every year at our pre-Thanksgiving celebration, we gather all of the grandchildren together on the couch.  This year the number of kids jumped up from 9 to 11 with the addition of both Holton & Grace!
What a precious moment to capture - dear Grandma June holding baby Grace.  Or, you could say that June was holding her youngest's youngest's youngest!
The table gets longer each year!

On Thanksgiving, we celebrated with the Davidson extended family.  Here's a couple photos of the day!  The kid table!
The handsome men-cousins
And the 2nd cousins!
And I just love this photo of Jeff & Valerie, Adam & Lauren, and us!
We also took advantage of hanging out with some of our college friends while we were up in Valencia.  Pictured below is a shot of (most of) our kids!  They had such a great time playing together!
What a fun weekend with loved ones!   I love this photo capturing brotherly love!  Those moments are rare, but they are so sweet.

The start of the holidays means the start to a whole lot of baking and goodies!  Samuel was my helper and we made the most delicious pear sauce!  While it simmered on the stove, the delicious aroma filled the house!  It didn't make too much, but of what it did make, we gobbled it up!
Mmmmm!

That's it for now - stay posted for some Christmas updates soon!

Julian 2015!

Two weekends ago we spent a lovely weekend up in the Julian mountains with the White family.

We've been staying in Julian as a family ever since 2008 - so this marked our 8th year!  Sometimes we've camped, sometimes we rent a house together - - but lately, we've loved staying at this little white farmhouse that stands on acres of property, with fruit trees and roaming wild turkeys, and its walking distance to a playground & skatepark.  :)

Although there's so much to look forward to, like apple pie, having tea with the ladies, eating at Wynola pizza, going mining for treasures with Grandad, hiking, playing baseball, soccer & frisbee, and playing at the skatepark, I think what each of us truly looks forward to and enjoys the most is the time spent together as family.

Let the pictures begin!

Each of my three loved holding the babies!  This was specifically Micah's 1st time holding baby Grace.

And everyone adored baby Holton!  I can't get enough of his handsome little face and big, dark eyes!

The 3 babies
(Grace is 2 months old, Kendall is 21 months, and Holton is 5 months)

We arrived on Friday morning and the cousin-playtime immediately commenced.

Everything was done together:
Lunchtime together...
 Playtime together...
 Picking apples together...
Exploring the barn & playing hide-and-seek together...
And of course, the skatepark together!

Here's my sweeties picking apples.  They were delicious!

I got such a kick out of this - - the shoe area.  :)  So many little ones and all the shoes that go with them!

Each year our Dad takes everyone to the Julian Mining Company while Mom takes us ladies to tea at the Julian Teahouse.

The teahouse is an adorable little place, and the tea & food is so good!  We were so sad that our Mom was too sick to attend, but she wanted us to still enjoy tea all the same.  We missed her very much all weekend and are so thankful that now she is feeling better.  Thank goodness for facetime & texting photos!  We sent her so many photos over the weekend I'm sure she felt she was there in spirit!

We had fun playing on the playground with the cousins.  I just adore Kendall's pigtails, don't you?  And that smile!!!

We took a hike up to the top of a big hill behind the playground.  Micah led us the whole way.  ;)  What beautiful country we saw!

Then back at the house the whole bunch of us gathered to play a super fun surprise game that Mom & Dad planned out...

Have you ever heard of the game "Pie Face"?  The name says it all...
The room was filled with so much laughter and screams of joy!
Hilarious!

The mornings were early, but everyone loved snuggling together.
Grandad made us a delicious breakfast spread on our last day (including his famous crepes!)!

Lastly, we took an annual photo of the whole clan (minus Mom, who I'm sure we can add in via photoshop?)  ;)
 And the silly one...
Thanks again for looking!  And thanks to my parents for the amazing weekend!  Until next time!
