Pierced Ears!

before
during
after

For her birthday DD1 asked to get her ears pierced. We decided that if she was old enough and responsible enough to take care of them (and brave enough to go through with it!) that she could do it. We went over to the mall and she picked out some cute sparkly flower earrings. I told her that it would feel like a shot, painful at first but quick and then it wouldn't hurt much after. I made her promise that even if they first ear hurt a lot we had to pierce both ears!! She was super brave. She did shed a few tears, but she was so proud of her new earrings! Good job sis!

Birthday Girl

DD1 had her 7th birthday in January. We joked that we were going to skip it this year because we don't want her to keep growing up, but she vetoed that idea! (It doesn't help that she is 7 going on 15!) This year DD1 wanted to have a pajama party. It was really fun. We did it on a Saturday morning. All her friends wore their jammies and brought a stuffed animal. Each girl decorated a pillow case to take home then we played "musical sleeping bags", Don't eat Pete!, and a memory game with the stuffed animals. It was easy and fun. I got the idea for the cake online, it was a slumber party cake with all the little people in bed. Since I didn't make hair on the little people DD1 said that they looked like gingerbread men, but she loved it anyway.
The next day we had a family party at grandma's house. For this party DD1 requested a barbie cake. I wanted to make a 9x13 cake with a barbie sitting on top, but she saw the "dress cake" online and asked me to make that one. It was an adventure! All I can say is that Barbie's hips were a little too wide and the cake started to crack! It stayed together until DD1 blew out the candles and that's all that matters right?!
Her favorite presents this year were a body pillow, a jewelry box, and she got her ears pierced! But that will be my next post. Happy birthday Princess - We love you!

Haircut

My sweet little DD2 decided to give herself a little haircut this week! She has been around scissors before so I didn't think she would cut her hair, but isn't that what all 3 year olds do when they find a pair of scissors?! She cut a little off each side and a chunk off the top, but it could of been much worse! Our great friend Brandi fixed it up for us and the new do is super cute!
