I guess you could say I took a hiatus

I love doing blog posts and keeping records of events that occur. Mostly, I love the reminiscing and sentimentality that reading about past memories bring back. It can in some ways bring that day, or that moment back to life. It helps us to remember things that at one time were so fresh in our memory and then fade like the sun setting.

And yet, where have I been?!? My only, and it's quite ridiculous, but,
my only excuse is that life happens. We get busy. We add more and more to our lists of to do lists, we pack in our daily lives and we do what we can do. There are only so many hours in the day. I used to want to do a post once a week, and then tried to be more realistic with once a month instead. But even that did not happen.

It is now though, that I am making a conscious effort to change that. To take a few minutes to do a blog post. To give an update of all the busy-ness life has presented. So I start here ... and do the best I can.

My boys are learning, growing and just thriving. They bring our family so much joy and so much fun. They are silly, funny, and still very tender hearted. Each one is so uniquely different. They have their own personalities, interests, opinions and talents. Sy, my oldest will be 14 in October. He will also become a freshman and start high school in August. HIGH SCHOOL. I remember high school like it wasn't that long ago. But it must have been if I have a child who will be starting himself. He really enjoys photography, art/drawing, playing guitar, computers, video games, and pretty much all sports. He loves to try new things. Vinny will be 10, oh my- the double digits, in June and start 5th grade in August. He enjoys swimming, playing with friends, youtube, gaming, science, and his all time favorite- Karate. It seems to be his passion right now. He takes is seriously and thoroughly enjoys it. He comes home and teaches all of us his new defense moves he's learned. His cousin Canon is also in his class and they really enjoy hanging out together. Coen just turned 7 years old a few short months ago. He will start 2nd grade in the new school year. This child amazes me as well as the rest. He seems to be good at everything he does. He is skilled when it comes to math, reading, etc. He enjoys all sports but LOVES, did I say loves?, yes he loves soccer. He makes friends easily and everyone loves him. He's friendly and social, he loves to sing, draw, paint, color, swim, ride his bike, skateboard or scooter. Coen is very determined and caring. He is fair and loyal.

All if my boys are tender when it comes to their mama. They are sensitive and emotional to my needs, except when they all gang up and tease me. Boys will be boys.

We were able to take them to Disneyland for the very first time back in January as a Christmas present. It was such a fun surprise and they had the time of their lives. I think it was a vacation they will remember and treasure forever.

Drew and I are doing well. Our 16th wedding anniversary is coming up in May. Sixteen down, eternity to go!

With the blink of an eye

It goes so fast. This little guy is the ideal example of perfection. I love everything about him. The way he walks, talks, smiles. 5 years ago today he was born and will forever have my heart. He is my everything and I so adore him.

We had Cheistmas and all the busyness of the holidays came and went. There was laughter and fun. We are grateful for family and friends and the memories we shared.

Busy busy

Tomorrow is Young Women Evening of Excellence and I was helping by making over 50 bags of kettle corn. After Sy being sick and Coen's injury, I'm exhausted :) Thank goodness for the Whirley Pop. I couldn't have done it without you!

Date gone awry

Saturday Drew and I went on a date during the day. Then the news that my baby fell out of a tree comes and is enough to make a mothers heart stop. But angels were watching over him as he is ok. No broken bones, no teeth knocked out, just some blood and a really bad bump with some scrapes and bruises 😔

The bad part is already bandaged up as it may be too graphic (just teasing, being a worried, paranoid, dramatic mom).

My boy is fine. Thank goodness.

Today I thought I'd get Coen out of the house and get his mind off his ouchies. His eye is swollen due to the trauma and his arm is scrapped up pretty bad too. He didn't want a bandage on but its so windy today and it was really stinging him.

Well he just wanted to go home. But he asked for pizza. He said he was hungry. It was only 10:30am so I ran by the pharmacy and then grabbed a pizza after that. We got home and he wasn't kidding. This was all him, one little 4 year old ...

Veterans Day and Sy's sick

When you're a kid, you're so excited to have a day off school. Some way for Sy to have to spend his holiday. He didn't even want to leave the house, didn't feel good during the long drive to the doc. It was just a bummer. His breathing machine had broken as well. And it turns out he has an ear infection. But I rewarded him with dinner. He picked Culvers. That boy loves his frozen custard (and I don't blame him, yum 🍦)

Happenings

On Halloween night, my little Batman decided to be Spider-man and my zombie decided to be Steve from Minecraft but my skeleton stayed the same.

The next day I signed the boys up to do a kids workshop at the Home Depot. They loved it as they were given nails, wood, and a hammer. They made pallet coasters and then they got to paint them.

Traditions

I learned from my mother in law how to make her mom's (Grandma Farrell) cobbler.

Drew's favorite kind is cherry cobbler. It was so fun to learn and use one of his grandma's recipes as she is such a good cook. It turned out delicious.

We did pumpkin carving for family home evening. The boys went to our ward trunk or treat. Sy dressed as Steve from Minecraft, Vin as a glow in the dark skeleton and Coen as Batman! Such cute boys. And they have been so excited because they love Halloween and all the traditions that go along with the fun upcoming holidays.
