Oriental Spoon

There's a nice Korean restaurant called Oriental Spoon located at La Trobe Street and it's always packed during dinner time eventhough the restaurant is big in size. We started off with some appetizers. Fried tofu.

Assorted mushroom salad. I love this dish to the max. It's the bestest salad I've eaten. I always feel hungry whenever I look at this picture.

Besides kimchi, chap chae is another must when we're having Korean food.

Chicken bulgogi. It's nice but a bit too much. I saw other people's dish came in a mountain-shaped. @@"

Will come back next time to try other things. :D

Sunbaking At The Zoo

One of my rare day when I went to the zoo not in my uniform. I went to the zoo as a normal visitor with some friends few days ago. I didn't take many pictures though.

We went to the seal keeper's talk as I highly recommended it to them. Lol. This is Tarwin throwing rubbish. She is soooo cute!! I like the way she waves her flippers. Like drawing a circle. I've seen this many times and still enjoyed it everytime. =D

Penguin keeper's talk. Cute as always.

This bearded dragon is so cute! First time seeing this cute pose. Lol.

The giant tortoise came so close to us until we can pat it. Not sure how old is this one but I'm sure it's a lot older than anyone of us who is reading this.

Another hot sunny day and also another tanning day. Going to become 'sakai' soon.

Darebin Kite Festival

I volunteered at a Kite Festival organised by the Darebin Council on Sunday. It's my first time volunteering for a council, so I was abit nervous about what I should do. It turned out to be quite relaxing apart from the super hot weather. It was held in All Nations Park at Northcote.

There were a lot of stalls selling foods and kites and also a face painting stall specially for kids. Kids face painting is very popular in Aus, even the zoo has it. A lot of people brought their doggies along for a free vet check too. People love this park because it's one of the park that allows dogs to run freely without the leash on.

This sheepdog is so nice! But he must be so hot.

I helped out with the puppets preparation. Just to lift them up to a standing position at the beginning and ensure no kids are pulling them while they are walking. This is the elephant with many hands and some kind of bellydancing pants. Lol.

A knight and a giant rat. It's so funny to see the dogs barking at the rat. So cute.

This is the Japanese fox, or racoon with a bell in its hand.

The stuntmen can only walk for 15 minutes each time because their shoulders will be so sore after that. When I saw them getting out of the puppet, they were thoroughly drenched in their sweat. @@" Not an easy job. Imagine how hot and tired it is walking inside it with the shoulders supporting the upper half of the puppet. This picture was after my shift and it's their third walk of the day. The fox sat beside me. Hehe. By the way, inside was a girl and she's sooo fit!

Darebin is like a multicultural community, so they always organise events that involve different cultures and races. Besides kite flying, there were always some performances like lion dance, Chinese traditional dance, Italian choir, Scottish pan pipes and maybe some others that I missed out because I was on duty. I also did the parade marshalling. It's just walking along with them. A bit awkward as everyone was watching. Swt. Most of the performers are old people except for the lion dance of course.

It's so hard to take a picture of the kites as they appear small in the picture. So can't take much. I wish I know how to fly a kite. Then I can join in with other people too. Lol.

This french bulldog is sooo cute! Like a piglet. Can see that he's hot and tired. Lol.

I'm extra tanned now. The tanline on my wrist is so much more obvious after this festival. But it's still not as serious as what NS did to me. I was so tanned, or shall I say, burnt until 'ah ma dou mm yeng dak'. Super swt.

Came across this picture and I like it. Lol.

His ability: make three generations of people laugh their socks off without uttering a single word. How awesome! XD

Ahmir

I find a lot of songs aren't nice when sung by the original singer but can fall in love with it when it's sung by other people. Ahmir is one of the example. They can turn a bloody Justin Bieber song to their version that makes the song so much more better and amazing. And I'm also not a fan of Pink, but love the Ahmir version of her song. Lol.
RnB singers are awesome!!

Brighton Beach

Destination of the day: Brighton Beach. This beach is popular for its colourful huts.

The sea water was chilling and it's so comfortable to stay in the water in this hot sunny day.

A lot of people come here for a walk. Nice picture. =)

The houses near the beach are magnificent!

Australian flag hut.

On the way home, we passed by St. Kilda. So we just hung around for a while. There are more activities in St. Kilda compared to Brighton. More shops, more people, and more beautiful too.

The happy dog was chasing the seagulls.

I got so tanned now. @@"

Sovereign Hill, Ballarat

Have wanted to go to Ballarat for a long time since it's one of the tourist attraction that I haven't been yet. Finally there's someone to go with me --Mae May! We took the Vline train that can bring us to the countryside. It's got nice comfortable seats and toilets.

Very nice scenery. There's about 15 minutes gap between the stops. Zzzz....

After one and a half hour, we finally reached Ballarat station.

There's a shuttle bus waiting for us already. Hehe. We always love the tourist spots that arrange direct transport. Don't have to worry our way.

We're here at Sovereign Hill! The weather was awesome! It's chilling, like autumn. I feel more like a holiday trip when the weather is cooler.

Ballarat is famous for its gold mine during the Victorian gold rush in the 19th century. So all the buildings here are just like those in that era. First one is the blacksmith. Can buy a $3 horseshoe for goodluck.

Here, can get your name printed on a Wanted poster or in the newspaper.

The grocer.

The pharmacy.

Doctor's surgery room. Looks scary. There's even a saw there. @@"

Men's parlour.

Ladies' parlour.

The bar.

Library.

A random notice in a hotel. Haha.

Candle shop.

Valentine's Day candles.

A hearse.

Bowling! I'm terrible at bowling, but this old fashion bowling makes me a pro. Reason: I bowl with a coconut. XD

The runway was very long and the ball rolled extremly slow. However, the pins were quite easy to get though. Hehe.

And this is how you play it! So much simpler and easier than modern bowling. Lol.

A small gold nugget that costs $2156.

Watching gold smelting. The melted gold was 1200 degree celsius. When he was explaining how they seperate the gold from the ore, I recalled abit of form 5 chemistry but too bad I've already forgotten mostly what I've learned. Seeing it for real is so much easier to remember.
This is the 3kg gold bar when it's cooled. Safe inside the locker.

Redcoat soldiers marching and firing.

The gold panning area! Let's dig for gold!

I didn't really dig for it as we're running out of time. Pose for fun only. :p

There's also a Gold Museum with all the histories of gold in Victoria. There're alot of huge chunks of gold inside.

It's a super tiring day. I just slept through the train journey. Ballarat, finally checked. XD
