CNY 2012

It was a super hot day in Melbourne on the chinese new year eve. I felt like being sun baked. Done with packing and ready to start my 2 hours journey to my aunt's place in Mount Waverly. It was so much easier to pack in summer than in winter. I only had a bagpack and a small hand-carried bag. My laptop bagpack is sooo awesome. Kinda like 2 in 1. Hehe.

I took the train instead of the tram. My first stop was in the city. When I walked out of the train only I realised the cupcake shop that I wanted to go was just right in front of the exit. Lol. Perfect! Save some walking.

This is Degrave Street. So European and classy look. Next time must discover more of this kind of small lane where there are many nice desserts and snacks can be found.

Mini cupcakes. I bought half a dozen of red velvet cupcakes since the colour is nice for CNY and I wanted to try it anyway. XD

Now ready for the second half of the journey. Waiting for the train to depart from Flinders Station.

My first reunion dinner in Melbourne. I helped out with the yee sang preparation. It's just cutting the vegetables. Only the cucumber was a bit ugly and big. So hard to cut nicely. The aussie version of yee sang it's like salad, only different dressing. Anyway, better than nothing.

My first time having steamboat for reunion dinner and it's the best steamboat I've eaten. One sukiyaki and one tomyam soup, and the satay sauce was soooo nice! Also, I had my first roast duck in a year. Lol. I wanted to eat 'dong fun' too but too full already, maybe because I ate too much duck. @@"

So full.... Felt like I've just eaten a buffet. Anyway, GONG HEI FATT CHOI from Mebourne!! Haha.

Random #9

The one good thing about summer is that the sun sets much later. This picture was taken at 9PM. I didn't type it wrongly. It's PM. I Can come back later whenever I'm out.

Winter it's like the opposite. If it's during winter, this picture would look like it's taken at 4.30PM and will be completely dark by 5PM.

This is the fun part of having four seasons. Messed up timing. Lol.

Lazying

I'm still half way through my summer holidays and I got nothing to do besides lazying in my room. So I ended up spending more time in the kitchen than I usually do. First up is my curry asam fish. I didn't realise it's so easy to cook it. It's easier than stir frying. All I have to do is just throw everything into the pot and then sit down and shake my leg. Lol.

I was craving for 'char chan teng' food. So I tried to make a cheesebaked rice. Here is my first cheesebaked rice. Not bad. Just that it's not burnt enough. Swt.

My second attempt on my curry asam. This is seafood curry asam noodles. Seafood marinara was on promotion in the supermarket. So why not grab some? This time was much more better. Satisfied. Hehe. This bowl of seafood noodles only cost less than $5. XD

Now that I'm satisfied, I can continue lazying.

Happy 2012

It's new year! So I cooked something special for my new year dinner. A big pot of sambal mixed vege. Soooo niceeee..... XD
Should cook this during winter. Having this in summer it's like heat plus extra fire in the body. Anyway, it's a good way to spice up the year. Lol.
