Farewell Bro

Once again, my super smart big bro parted from Malaysia and flew to overseas. This time only to our neighbouring country, Singapore. Cannot see him for a long period of time again eventhough I'll be going back very soon. =(

Hmm... what should I post about him? Got this idea.... xD

I will miss:

- his sarcastic jokes.

- his suffocating-his-small-sis syndrome. (when I find something funny and laugh, he will then keep on repeating the funny thing and make me laugh non stop until I'm out of breath and tears flow like river)

- his funny math teaching moments.

- his adding-my-name syndrome. (any words also modifies it and add in my name.)

- his index finger. (he always wave his index finger in front of my nose to make me press the number 1 button of the car radio so that he can listen to his fly fm or hitz fm) @@"

- his stupid facial expressions. (only does that to me. swt)

- his loud voice. (just like an amplifier. Can hear him even from 9 streets away.)

- his ka ka cau cau moments. (suddenly come into the room and sing song pulak)

- his irritating moments. (ask him help me to take my spoon for me and he will give me the fat spoon that used to scoop rice, the round spoon that used to scoop ice cream, small ice cream spoon, tea spoon, sieve and all kinds of spoon-like things except my spoon. Grr...)

- his big foot. (always step my heels or kick my butt in a very stupid way)

- his so-called forgetfulness. (purposely forget to take his cutleries and ask me to take for him.)

- his plate landing on mine after dinner. (so that his plate can tumpang mine to the kitchen.)

Cannot finish listing all of them. These are some things that always make my face muscles tired of laughing, but I definitely going to miss them again.

Now, off he goes.... the math genius earning big bucks in Singapore! Byebye, bro!

Farewell Jessie

Jessie has left Melbourne for good this morning. She will be having fun in Malaysia first, then only flying back to Hanoi, her hometown. Yesterday, I made her steamed eggs for her farewell. Hehe.

Always forgot to put MORE sugar, then it would be perfect! =D Anyway, she liked it and finished the whole bowl.
This is her traditional costume called ao dai. This was her first time wearing it Australia.
Before she left, she gave this to everyone of us as a souveneir. Mot nghin dong = 1000 dong and also equals to 5 cents in Australia. Lol.
And off she goes. She moved in 4 months ago, and good that we went out quite a number of times with her in the past 4 months. Her english isn't too bad and everyone will miss her cute english-speaking moments. =D

A sneek peak at the person who is going to fill the vacancy in the house. Looks familiar? xD

Another Day In The City

Few days ago, me and my housemates made another trip to the city again. This time was to watch Harry Potter. It's my second time to aussie cinemas and I saw people holding the guai lou size popcorn. It's like the size of a bucket filled with popcorns. @@"

After the movie, we went to a nice indian restaurant for dinner.

They asked me to try lassi. So I tried mango lassi. After the drink, I felt like I've just eaten 5 cups of yogurt. Swt. Indians really like yogurt and I noticed most of their dishes contain yogurt.
I've forgotten what's the name of this dish. It's a potato dish with an indian name.

Butter chicken. Nice!

Garlic naan. Love the smell of garlic. xD

It was quite late and outside was so cooling, just like living in air conditioner. =D

My housemates cannot really stand cold, but they also weren't surprised that I was only in my tee. Another 5 minutes for the tram to come, so they freezed for 5 minutes while I was enjoying the nice weather. Hehe... The only change was just my face turning red, no matter hot or cold. Grr... too much iron. @@"

Hip Hop

Bored. Everyday, waiting for the downloads to finish. I'm currently chasing So You Think You Can Dance season 7. Besides that, I've been spending my time in youtube watching the past seasons' performances.

I wasn't a fan of some of the songs, until they've used it for dancing, the songs can become so nice and addictive. This is one of the example. Now, I can't stop listening to 'elevator' by flo rida over and over again. The routine is so awesome! How I wish I can dance like that. So regret not learning hip hop since young, then I can do so many stunts. xD

Before playing it, remember to stop the music of the blog.

Hip hop with orchestra! Love the two hip hop choreographers, Tabitha and Napoleon. =D

This is from season 7 but don't know why I can't attach it in here. So I post the link. It's also choreographed by Tabitha and Napolean and this has made me a big fan of Alex, the asian guy in this season. A ballet dancer doing hip hop. So cute and funny. xD They choreographed this routine specially for him. Watch till the end and see how everyone was impressed!

Enjoy!

A Day In The City

There are 3 out of 6 people in the house who are super free until the only thing they do is sitting in the room and grow mushroom. They are me, Pri and Jessie. Lol. Jessie will be going back to Vietnam in less than a week =( so she is in the process of crossing out the names on her places-to-see list.

Today's first destination: Cook's Cottage. It is located inside Fitzroy Garden. We looked just like tourists with the cameras hanging around us and a map in our hands. Lol. The map that Jessie got from those info people was really useful to find our way. The weather was cooling. Don't mind walking the extra mile even if we lost our way. Hehe.

Entrance of Fitzroy Garden.

There is also another garden beside called Treasure Garden. We were standing in front of the two garden's entrance, so took a picture of both.

Entering Fitzroy Garden and searching for Cook's Cottage.

Found the cottage! I know the name James Cook from sejarah textbook, but totally forgotten what he had done. Lol. Was he related to Sarawak or something? Aikss... Ooo, just noticed my own reflection.

I'm touching Cook's house!! xD
It looks beautiful outside, but the inside is so small and crowded. @@"

Simple house and simple life. This is second floor. Like chinese saying: one eye sees all. Lol...

A statue of Captain Cook outside his yard.

These flowers are so nice. Bell-like flowers with some bees and butterflies flying around.

After visiting the cottage, we walked around the garden. Quite similar to the Botanic Garden but lesser plant types. However, there are still some great sceneries and I can take nice pictures like this.

This is a zoom in version of the picture above. Notice below left corner of the picture above? A duck family is enjoying their family day beside the fountains. The ducklings are so super cutee!! =D

Their public toilet. First time seeing such nice public toilet.

Today's second destination: St Kilda beach.

Finally arrived at the beach. Can see cute seagulls flying around!

The beach. Looks so much like Miami. Or just that I can't differentiate so all beaches look the same to me? The sea water isn't that blue anyway.

Saw some dogs enjoying their time running at the beach.

It was so super windy until we've got headache! No point taking pictures of our faces since our hair was flying everywhere. @@" So took pictures of these sporting people. How come they are not cold?

After the beach walking, we went to Brunetti for hot chocolate, but our main aim of going there was just to buy eclairs for another housemate. Hehe.
It was abit cold in the evening. Now I know why people here love to drink hot chocolate so much while I barely drink it in Malaysia eventhough I love chocolate. In Malaysia should only go for milo ice!! Hehe...

Tonight's dinner: beef curry don from Don Don. Famous for cheap take away. But I also don't prefer to dine in there anyway, because it is small and crowded.
Back home at 8pm and the sky is still so bright! Always have the psychological thinking that "oh, it's still early! Wait, it's 7pm already!?" Swt. Wonder how will the summer sky look like? Having supper time under a bright sky?

First Year Review

There is something special about the date today: 17.11.2010. First thing is that I've just finished my first year in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience course, or animal science in short. Second thing is that this date also indicates that I've already been here for 9 months, exactly. These past 9 months have made year 2010 the most awesome year. With the blink of an eye, 17 Feb becomes 17 Nov. That's way too fast!

Okay, I am one of the few Malaysians who do animal science, and also one of the few who watch Animal Planet, maybe? Anyway, I will review my first year subjects to give an idea what it's all about.

Overall, first year is like a touch of everything to let students know which field is suitable for them in the future. Most of them are common subjects shared with other courses too. However, there's one subject distinguishes us from others. That is animal systems.

Remember the chickens? In animal systems, we handled sheeps and horse, raised chickens, studied livestock and paddock management, got to know about animal welfare, visited the zoo (free entry! so syok!) and observed animal behaviours (penguins for me =D).

Wonder where are they now? Busy laying eggs? Hope they have not turned into Nando's chicken! T.T... Animal systems is part of the agricultural science and I will have another two more agricultural science in second year. So, animal systems, see you again next year.

Second year: Animal health, check! Animal nutrition, check!

Next, zoology. Another fun and interesting subject with dissections. Zoology has never failed to make me looking forward to practical every week. Dissections include earthworm, cockroach, snail, starfish and toad. Because of zoology, I went beyond my comfort zone and looked into the creepy eyes of a cockroach! @@"

Second year zoology, check!

Up next, biology. Hmm.... just normal biology. Cell functions, respiration, digestion and other general science knowledge that every science students need to know.

Second year: Animal physiology, check!

Chemistry, another general subject that links all sciences together. Carbs, proteins and fats structures, thermochemistry, soap and detergents, insecticides and herbicides and more. It is also a subject that needs brain juices to do the not-just-basic-math part. So yea, add math will come in handy. However, even without add math, the subject coordinator is caring enough to offer math tutorials. =) Since chemistry is the center of everything, it might be very useful in the future.

Second year: Biochemistry A, check! Biochemistry B, check!

Inheritance, gene expression, DNA, human evolution, RNA transcription, polyploidy, etc.... Genetics is too much for me. So many complicated concepts plus heaps of weird terms to memorise. Pengsan... So, goodbye genetics. I'm not going to meet you again next year.

Australia is full of eucalyptus trees, but too bad I'm not interested in their iconic plant. I don't have the passion in plant science. It is, no doubt, the easiest among all the subjects. Photosynthesis is not hard to understand compare to gene expression. However, the practicals are not fun at all. So, goodbye plant science, there's no way I'm going to see you again. Now I'm out of the Gondwana land or the Cretaceous period.

Alright! The last and maybe the least? Newton first law of motion: Mr Inertia likes to either keep us going at a constant speed or keep us from getting our butt off the chair. No need to explain, everyone knows my 'best friend'-- physics. Why are you teaching me about climate!? Never expected that I need to read a whole paragraph of words in physics. @@" Indeed, you are important and have given birth to the modern technologies that modern humans cannot live without. However, you are just too complicated for me to understand you.

So, it's time to bid farewell. To acknowledge you, I will always remember how rainbow is formed. Thanks to you too, I don't have to swim all the way here to Melbourne. =D

One more thing, I've lost count on how many times have I drawn a king kong falling from the Empire State Building because of physics. xD

There goes my first year. Interesting, exciting, boring etc, all applicable. Hope next year can focus more on animals and I will be waiting for it.

Feed The Brain

Have been resisting the blogging temptation for 2 weeks. Now, I finally can pay a visit to my lonely blog for the first time in November and spend as long as I want here. =) Exams are over and I'm done for the year! Let's have a summary of what I ate during the boring study week and the exam period.

First up, black pepper udon! Cooked this for a reason. I was craving for hawker food terribly that time and this was the easiest thing to cook. Tasted like the black pepper udon that I used to eat at Pink during college days. Hehe. Dessert: seedless grapes. The grapes were so nice until I finished all of them in just one night.

This bowl of luncheon meat maccoroni can sustain my brain for 3 days. Quick and easy.

During Deepavali, my housemate, Pri, made gulajapmun. First time eating it. Not quite a fan of it. It only got the sweet taste by soaking it in syrup.

Another housemate, Alyaa, made honeyjoys. So me and Pri helped out a little. Everyone tends to become more active when the weather has warmed up. Hehe. Just found out that making honeyjoys isn't that hard.

Delicious honeyjoys!! They are made of cornflakes, almonds, honey and butter. She put the whole chunk of butter and managed to make 3 trays of them. =D

There's one day, me and 3 other housemates went to a Vietnamese restaurant called Pho Hung. The restaurant was fully packed at 6pm. I ordered special beef pho and I loved it so much! It was like the beef noodles that I used to eat in SS2 hawker stalls, just that this one came with hor fun. Look at the size of it. It was S size and yet I still couldn't finish it. Anyway, I still sucked the soup dry and left the remaining hor fun there. Haha. Okay, I know I looked horrible in the picture. Was working on those unfriendly physics questions before this. @@"

My Vietnamese housemate, Jessie, likes to make this. I didn't know what they are called in english and just learned that they are called prawn crackers. Lol..

Here is the total amount and all of us got some.

This is my latest update on my meal. Vietnamese instant noodles. Just pour hot water and it's ready to serve! xot bo ham = soup beef noodle. Lol. It was quite nice. Some new version of instant noodles to me. xD

Okay, the brain is full. Now it's time for the brain to go on vacation and relax. Hehe. 3 months of brain hibernation. Wahahaha...
