Onions

First day of semester 2! It was okay as I've only got 2 hours lecture. So far I've seen 2 new lecturers. The chemistry lecturer has a Spanish or Italian accent. Sounds like Nadal giving lecture. So cute. Lol.. Genetics lecturer opened my eyes a little. At first, I thought he is just another Asian who grew up in Australia. However, when he started speaking, a voice with typical Malaysian accent hit my eardrums. That surprised me. Haha. His lecture wasn't boring by the way. He has some jokes up his sleeve and managed to make the whole class laughed. =D

Let's see what else do I have for this semester. Plant science, hmm, hope it will be as fun as zoology, but plants don't move. =( Another one is..... physics!? Aiks... pengsan. x.x

Chicken of the day: black pepper chicken.
When I was cutting the onion, I felt something wrong with my eyes. Oops!! I've totally forgotten that onion can make people cry. Aiks, why did I buy onions? I don't know. Maybe my hands were itchy that day I went for grocery shopping. ;(

My dinner. Rice at the bottom. I don't have to buy rice at the moment because my housemate, who has gone back to Taiwan, left a big bag of rice for us.
Lesson of the day: don't go shopping when my hands are itchy. @@"

Chicken

I've bought too much chicken. So I have to think of other chicken dishes other than the quick-and-easy claypot chicken rice. @@. This was what I came up with: honey chicken.

It was not bad for the first time. My housemate, Khush, liked it. Haha. She was cooking at the same time as well, so she gave me some of her tandoori chicken.

She has also made trifle pudding. So both of us and another housemate, Alyaa, sat in the kitchen and chit chat while enjoying the pudding. =)

So full. Burp... Ok, what else can I cook next?

Hang Out

Wanted to go to Scienceworks with Jess and Meaghan, but Meaghan slept in, so in the end we didn't go and just walked around Melbourne Central. Just window shopping with them as I never like to buy clothes. >.<

It's been awhile didn't meet each other. Quite a lot stuff to chat. This is Jess. Her cows just gave birth, so she spent the whole day looking at the calves. Lol.

Meaghan. The only Aussie that I've met who will sleep at 2.30am. Most Aussies love to sleep early. @@"Both of them helped me a lot during the semester. So lucky that I met them during orientation. Haha..

Walked for hours and I was a bit tired. Wanted to cook chicken for dinner but one of my friend, Anna, texted me and asked me whether do I want to go for free dinner held by Unicare at Northside Church. Free dinner?? Then I must go!! LOL.. Can save my chicken for the weekends.

This is quite similar to FOCUS but this is only once in a fortnight and no bible studies. Such a coincidence that there were a bunch of Japanese came to Australia to learn English for a month. So all of them came to Unicare for social. So many Japanese and Koreans.I know both Cathy(left) and Anna(right) from Steph during her farewell.

Both of them are Honkies. Anna used to live in my current house last time, but she moved to another house to change the environment. Guess what? Her new place is just 2 houses away from my house and the owner of that house is my landlord's father. @@"

Cathy is a funny girl. Her laughing is contagious. Lol... She is a fan of Lam Bou Yi and she actually got the 101 chance to talk to him!! Wahh!! That time she was working at a shop in Hong Kong and Lam Bou Yi came to that shop and ordered a pants from her. She got so super nervous and blushed at that time. Haha. From there, she got his number. After some days, she had to call him to come and collect the new pants. LOL!!!

Ok. Thats all for the day. Off to bed now. Zzz....

Eggs

Finally, here is a photo of my steamed egg. My housemates said it was very nice. Phew... Just need more sugar next time. It took me more time to steam it without the steamer. I sat there and stared at it for more than half an hour. Ok, that is not true and it sounds retarded. I watched tv while waiting for it. =p

Up next is my french toast. It was ok. At least the edges were crunchy. xD It has got peanut butter inside. Hehe. How can I make it like the french toast in Wong Kok and Kopitiam?

More Dumplings

Yesterday, it was already 9pm. Me and my Taiwanese housemate, Steph, still haven't eaten dinner yet. We planned to cook to together since she's going back to Taiwan tomorrow. When we were just wanted to get started, a friend called us to have dinner at his place. Nice timing!! Lol. Naves is our neighbour actually. Just walk across the road to reach his house.

Me and Steph. She has American accent when she speaks English. She said she never speaks English in Taiwan and said she watched too much Desperate Housewives and learned from there. @@
Naves, from China. He speaks Cantonese too and his Chinese accent is not very heavy. Just like a Cantonese speaking Mandarin. He wanted people to help him to wrap dumplings.
Steph making dumplings.
My dumpling. xDFirst batch of dumplings. Found out that wrapping dumplings can be quite fun also. Wanted to wrap more. =p

Frying dumplings.

Steam dumplings.
Both types of dumplings also tasted very nice. =) By that time, it was already 11pm. So it's our supper instead. Very full, but I slept at 3.30am, so nevermind. Haha.
Ate so much dumplings this week. Looks like a dumpling week for me. @@"

Dumplings

Went to meet up with Zhi Ying again. This time, she introduced this restaurant to me. It's located at a small lane in Chinatown. Can know that it is famous for its dumplings by looking at the shop name.

I was kinda hungry as I didn't eat breakfast so that I have more space for nice food. Haha. Wanted to order dumpling noodles but after looking at the size of other people's noodle, we decided to order only dumplings and some siu long pao.

Fried pork dumplings. Looked a bit like wo tip.

Siu long pao. Nice. I like the ginger taste. Never liked ginger before but learnt to eat it after I've eaten my aunt's dishes.

Chat with each other as usual. Now only I know that she lives in DU. I still thought that she lives far far away such as Cheras or Shah Alam or Subang or Puchong because most Sunway people lives there.

Zhi Ying: I'm so happy today because I speak a lot of mandarin!!

Waterfront City Docklands

Went to The Amazing Bodies Exhibition on Wednesday with my coursemate, Min Dee, and her childhood friend, Teck. The exhibition was about plastination. They preserved the dead bodies and organs and put on display for the public to see how the real thing looks like and compare the differences between human and all types of animals.
Too bad we were not allowed to take photos inside. There're so many fascinating things to see. Skeletons, nerves, digestive systems, respiratory organs, muscle tissues, reproductive systems, you name it, they've got it. They even got embryos of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 weeks of age! We used to be so tiny. Lol...

I wondered how did they make the horse to pose like that in the picture above since it's already dead. I saw snake's brain. So super tiny! There's even a dog inside and it's very muscular. There were a lot more like birds, crocodile, whale, etc. The dissections were nicely done. They cut the same animal into half and used one side to show its digestive system and the other side used to show excretory system. Of course there were also other kind of dissections like slicing a human horizontally from top to bottom. >.<
Then, we had lunch at The Coffee Club. This is Min Dee, an awesome girl from Penang. She has studied 2 years of vet science in Ontario, Canada before. However, because the province has changed its policy, limiting only 5 international students in vet science course. So after a random pick by the uni, she's not the lucky one, so she changed her route and study animal science first, and then, go back to Canada and study vet again.

She's super talkative and funny and has the potential to be Kenny Sia number 2. =) There was one furniture shop asked her to advertise the shop in her blog. After that, she got free furnitures from that shop. Nice.

Here is one of our funny dialogue.

Me: You know one of my local friend said "I know Malaysia is humid, but how's the winter there?" I really zha dao!!

Min Dee: At least your friend knows that Malaysia is humid. When I was in Canada, I even met people asking me "Where is Malaysia? Is that a country?"

LOL. The last sentence more zha dao!!

Teck, Min Dee's childhood friend. He's studying animation and IT at RMIT and going to graduate at the end of this year. He's good in photography too. The picture of me and Min Dee was taken using his professional camera whereas this one was taken using my camera.

Big breakfast.
Carbonara.Salmon omelette.

Min Dee's a big eater. She can still eat after she finished the whole omelette plus some hash browns from Teck's big breakfast plus some of my carbonara. @@. Anyway, she workouts at the gym everyday.

There were artificial snow.

Just walked around the shops. The weather was a bit cold but I liked it, like air con. The wind was strong too until I didn't even bother to fix my messy hair again and again. >.<
Then we went for dessert at this stall.I chose tiramisu and swiss chocolate. Starting to like the wine taste in tiramisu. =p

Saw a lot of these artistic statues, so we play around with it.

Min Dee was practicing her photography skills. By the way, the flowers are so pretty. They look like having sad faces. The patterns are the same, only different colours.Docklands.
Banana in Pyjamas. Inside is half a banana covered with banana custard and wrapped with a sponge cake. Quite nice. =)

Minime

Had a midnight chat with my housemates again. Now only I know that they used to have a rabbit in the house. The rabbit belonged to an ex-tenant of this house.

So they always had to chase the rabbit in the backyard to put him back into the cage. Then, they found out a way to make the rabbit to come to them. Here is a video of the rabbit, Minime. He's so attracted to the puppet koala until he did something like this!!

Can see? So cute!! I always like lopped ear rabbits. Haha...

Heard that he died of eating something poisonous. All of them cried that day. =(

Doggie!!

Woke up a lot earlier than my usual time (I sleep until 12pm ever since holidays started, hehe). Went for a morning walk with my aunt and her friends at Shepherds Bush.

Fresh and cold air and nice sceneries.

One of her friend, aunt Wai Chee, brought a dog along. A very fat and cute 'Marley' =) Anyway, its name is Raffle.
A bit not used to greeting people who passed by us as we walked. :s

After that, went to aunt Wai Chee house so that I can play with her dog while waiting for my aunt to finish her tai chi class.

Weng Soon, aunt Wai Chee's son, doing second year pharmacy in Monash Parkville campus. He's a banana and heard that he's very good in chemistry (Zhi Ying, if you are reading this, try to spot him in your uni and ask him to teach you chemistry. Lol.)

This was my first time touching a dog since I left Malaysia, made me suddenly miss Shadow and Max @@". Raffle is 1.5 years old and he's very big and as playful as Max. He is allowed into the house and can play 'fetch' in the house somemore. Lol. He's actually biting a carrot in the picture. Didn't know that dogs like to eat carrot too.

Nasi Lemak + Curry Laksa

Went to a Malaysian restaurant at Elizabeth street with Zhi Ying. Forgotten the restaurant name. The pictures on the wall inside looked just like those kopitiam in Malaysia. The restaurant was packed.

I had a hard time deciding what to eat since I haven't been eating kopitiam food for months and I wanted to eat everything on the menu. @@"
Then, I ended up with curry laksa because I saw the tau fu pok in the picture and I super love tau fu pok. The laksa wasn't that good compared to that in Malaysia. One thing was that I like thinner meehoon and restaurants here like using fatter meehoon. Plus, the taste just can't match the Malaysian laksa taste. Don't know how to describe lah... lol.. I'm not a food blogger anyway. One question: does laksa have brinjals? I can't remember eating laksa with brinjals.

Zhi Ying ordered nasi lemak. She said not spicy at all. She ordered the normal one because she only eats beef. Beef nasi lemak maybe?

Wanted to eat chee cheong fun also, but looked like a bit expensive to eat chee cheong fun here.
