Are you worth the price? Having been fed up of cheap shoes that cause blisters and are constantly uncomfortable, I recently decided to splash out on a very expensive pair of ordinary looking, but seemingly comfortable pair of shoes, in the hope that my feet would be spared of further trauma. However, 2-3 weeks into wearing these new pair of shoes, I am still half limping at times, as it has proven not to be as comfortable as I thought the price I'd paid for it would make it... It reminds me a little of the relationship between God and us. God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, and bought us at a very expensive price. Yet, like my pair of shoes, we've been hard at heart, and resistant to any change. He paid that high price, but we've not proven ourselves worthy of what has been paid. With our constant whining and disbelief, have we shown that we really grateful for what He has done for us on that cross? Have a think, Are you worth the price? Who am I?  "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?" - Psalms 8:3-4 Having been on a trip to a gorgeous seaside area armed with my camera, I was anxious to take the best shots possible of every single view. In my eagerness, I forgot the most important thing. It wasn't until I turned and looked at someone precious beside me, who, camera-less, was in full serenity at the creation of God's hands, did I realise that I was missing it all out. Silently, I put my camera down, and closed my eyes. The amazing peace and full appreciation of the beauty of God's work washed over me, like the waves over the rocks, covering me with refreshing rejuvenation. I couldn't help but wonder, who am I that He, the Great One, is mindful of me...  "Oh Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" - Psalm 8:1 |
