School Recognition

We often joke that Little Guy has an alter ego, because he is so incredibly well behaved in school but rather wild at home and at his music lessons.  We were all floored when he was chosen by his teacher for a special award.  There was even a special assembly for it.

We're proud of his behavior at school and love to remind him that this means he can choose to behave better outside of school...time will tell.  In the meantime, I'm grateful he's doing well in school.

A Chilly End

This weekend was the final soccer game for BB and Little Guy.  BB had a late evening game.  It was so cold without the sun out!  I couldn't feel my toes.  Grandma Thompson came and braved the weather with us.

These 5 go to school together:

First thing in the morning Little Guy had his final game.  I was thinking the sun would help us out, but it was even worse because of the wind.  It was painfully cold.  Grandpa Thompson joined us for this one.

Little Guy played goalie for the second half.

You can tell by their smiles that their team picture was a week earlier when it was really warm.

They both had a great season.

Double Concerts

As Joel's belated birthday gift we went to see Lauren Daigle at the T-Mobile center downtown.  It was a great concert.  We went with friends out to one of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to.  It was a lot of fun, and we ate so many amazing foods including bone marrow with lobster and A5 wagyu beef.

Lauren has an amazing voice, but it's her personality that shines through.  I liked her almost more than her music. It was a really enjoyable concert.

The next day my friend invited me to see Taylor Swift in the theater.  It was for her birthday.  I'm not a huge Swiftie, but I do enjoy some of her music.  While I was there I realized there were certain albums that I knew most of the songs and then there were certain albums I must have missed completely.  It was fun, but I will say it was almost more entertaining watching the fans crying at the concert.

I Love Fall

The leaves changing colors makes me smile.  I love forward to it every year.

Donuts with Grown Ups

The school is a bit brilliant to combine Scholastic Book Fair with Donuts.  They look forward to this every year.

Little Guy has been brings home some pretty fun projects lately.  BB gets to be a student assistant in art class and he loves it.  He helps with the 2nd graders, so he gets to be in Little Guy's class.

Jack O Lanterns

The Littles were very, very excited to have their pumpkin carved this year.  Daddy ended up helping them for most of it, because seeing my 7 year old with a knife did not inspire much peace of mind.  They loved how they turned out.

Pumpkin Patch Divisions

My oldest two children (yes, I'm choosing to add my husband into this category in this particular instance) chose to be Grumpkins.  They whined and complained while the rest of the children had a wonderful time choosing a pumpkin.  I'm choosing to believe they had a good time way DEEP down inside.
It was particularly dry and dusty.  It was almost hot out there this year.  We went at the perfect time because the weather turned very wet and cold after the weekend.

The Littles are particularly excited to carve their pumpkin this year.

Tis the Season

We had yet another set of recitals today.  I had students in all 4 recitals, and all 4 of my kiddos participated in 2 of them.

Little Guy played Badinage on the piano, BB played Vega by Vandercook on the trumpet, Little Man played Snowflake by Andrew York on the guitar and Solfeggio in c minor by CPE Bach.

Little Lady was rather busy.  She played Le petit negre by Debussy and Scherzo by Gurlitt on piano.  She sang and played Peace in Christ, and also played Tarantella, Op. 25 by Squire on the cello.
BB was upset with the way he played and so was Little Man, but overall it was a great recital.

Fall Concert

Little Lady had her Fall Choir concert this week.  She sure does love to sing.
