Let's Chat

Happy Friday!

I just wanted to share a fun little card for one the Card Creations Challenges over at the Moxie Fab World Blog.  This is for the Speech Bubble Challenge.

I thought it would be fun to make a card based on the iMessage iPhone app.  Here's my take:

I cut out a square of green paper and rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper.  I noticed that the app actually has some subtle stripes that run diagonally, so I stamped the Notebook Paper stamp from Paper Smooches with VersaMark to get the subtle green color I wanted.  Next I punched out 2 circles and stamped/embossed the number 1 (Smitty's ABC's, LF).  I then die cut a speech bubble from my Lawn Fawn dies out of white paper and vellum.

I adhered the vellum slightly off to give the speech bubble some dimension as though it was shaded with a marker.  I think it's kind've a neat look.  The speech bubble and circles are adhered with foam tape.

I then added my sentiment (Perpetual Bliss, Paper Smooches) and some twine (LF) to finish off the card.

And since "Anything Goes" over at the Simon Says Stamp blog, I'll link this card up as well.

Thanks so much for visiting today!  Hope you have a nice evening!

Happy Easter

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and share a happy little Easter card I made.

I started by stamping the Hero Arts Envelope Pattern in a soft yellow ink to add a little texture to the background.  The sentiment is die cut with the Quinn's ABC's dies from Daphne's Closet paper.  That collection has the prettiest patterns!  I then added some tall grass for fun and a row of short grass (also out of Daphne's Closet) for the little bunnies to hop through.  The bunnies and eggs are from Happy Easter (LF) and are colored with copics.

Sorry for the dark pictures.  They didn't look that dark on the camera!

And since the theme is "Anything Goes" over at the Simon Says Stamp blog, I'll be linking my card up.

Thanks so much for stopping by :)

RIC #32

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a card today for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge.

Here's our inspiration photo:

Here's my take:

I started by stamping Impression Obsession's houndstooth pattern on some light gray cardstock to resemble the model's sweater.  I so wished I had some pink satin ribbon to reference her skirt, but alas...  Instead I used some white cardstock and sprayed it with bubblegum pink dylusions ink.  I then added a flower and leaves from PTI's mini blooms set. My sentiment is die cut from silver glitter paper with PTI's Headline Alphabet die.

And to Punxsutawney Phil Sowerby, I think you've mislead us into believing Spring would arrive soon.  In fact, it's snowing now...

Here's to wishing you have a warm and cozy weekend.  I think a cup o' hot chocolate is in order :)

Elegant Emerald

Hey There,

I just wanted to pop in to share a card for the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Challenge: Elegant Emerald.  Here is our inspiration:

Gorgeous, right?  Here's my take on it:

I started by inking the background panel with distress inks and then stamping one of my Hero Arts background stamps (leaf and floral) over it.  I then added some vellum and stamped the Hero Arts envelop pattern in navy to resemble the model's veil.  Next came the  sentiment (PTI's Bountiful Banners), which is stamped in navy.  I surrounded the sentiment strip with gold striped washi tape as a nod to the model's pretty gold belt.  I think the butterfly is self-explanatory :)  It's a memory box die.

I also want to enter it into the current A Blog Named Hero Challenge: Free Style.  And since butterflies come back in Spring, I'll also enter this into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Easter/Spring.  And I'll add it to Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday: Inked Backgrounds.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Birthday Fortune

Hi!

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start!  It's still a bit cold here, so I'm happy to stay inside and spend the afternoon making cards :)

Today I have a birthday card to share.  I also wanted to participate in this week's Lawnscaping Challenge: Stitching.

The thought of actually digging my sewing machine out and figuring out how to use it again gave me a headache, so I improvised with my paper piercer.

I stitched the bottom of the card with some gold embroidery floss, which was pretty easy to do.  I do like the look of machine stitching, so maybe I'll have to get out the sewing machine at some point... some day... ;)

For the background of the card, I used Mister Huey mists (desert, letter jacket).  I then added some washi paper and tape to ground the cute take-out box and fortune cookie.  They're both from the Good Fortune set by Lawn Fawn-- as is the sentiment.  For a little extra pizazz, I created an open take-out-box and added little colored accents to the chopsticks.

I'll also be adding this to the Moxie Fab World Challenge: The Washi Tape Challenge.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Faux Chipboard

Hi!

Long time no see!  I've been eyeball deep in finishing course work for my last semester of grad school, so my crafty time has been a little lot limited lately :(  BUT, it's the home stretch, so that's something to be thankful for!

Anyways, I wanted to play along with this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: use chipboard in a clean and simple project.

So, I seemed to have missed out on the whole chipboard trend, because I don't actually own any...  But, I made my own faux chipboard out of layered cardboard, so I think I still achieved the chipboard look.  Here's my card:

I'm in love with PTI's Irresistibly Ikat stamp set.  It's fast becoming one of my favorites!  I stamped the pattern alternating with aqua mist ink (PTI) and soft cantaloupe ink (Hero Arts).  After I finished stamping the panel, I stamped the envelope pattern (Hero Arts) in white pigment ink over the ikat pattern.  It's a bit hard to tell from the picture above, but here's a close up:

I thought it added a nice bit of texture to the card.  I used the Bountiful Banners die and stamp set (PTI) for my chipboard element.  The banner is pretty thick, so I think it achieved the "chipboard" look:

Lastly, I finished the card off with a few sequins.

That's all for me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Chevron Challenge

Happy Weekend!

I've been enjoying the posts over at the Moxie Fab World blog about the new Card Creations magazine.  There are a bunch of fun challenges that will run for the month, so I thought I'd play along with the chevron challenge

Here's what I came up with:

I used a chevron heart stamp from the Hearts a Flutter set by Stampin' Up to make the majority of the elements on this card.  It has a matching die, so I cut out a bunch of hearts and adhered them together to make a flower bunch and two butterflies.

The background is stamped with the Interlocking Backdrops set and the sentiment is from Flying By-- both from Lawn Fawn.

And since there's a bit o' green in the card, I'll be entering this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge

That's all for me today.  Thanks for visiting!

Runway Inspired Challenge #31

Hey!

Just popping in to share a card I made for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge.  The inspiration is from this fun Kate Spade ensemble:

Here's my take:

I had a lot of fun making this card!  I started by cutting strips of black cardstock and adhering them to the white card base.  I was inspired by that little bow on the top of that monster's (?) head and decided a red flower would be a good alternative.  It's from a Spellbinder's die.  The sentiment, from Mama Elephant (Smitten), is stamped and embossed in black on yellow cardstock.  I curled it to give it a little more dimension.

That's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Camera Craze

Happy Wednesday!

Hope everyone's week is going well!  We got about a foot of snow, so it was a snow day for most everyone.  We lost power for a few hours, but everything is back on now-- including the internet!  Woot!

While I was without power, I thought I would make another card for this month's Moxie Fab World Challenge: Camera Craze.

I'd like to be better at clean and simple cards, so here's my attempt:

I used the camera from Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss stamp set and embossed it with white embossing powder.  The starburst background is from Hero Arts/Studio Calico and is one of my favorite stamps.  I masked off the top part of the starburst and just included the bottom part on the card.  I thought it would be a good way to move one's eye towards the sentiment, which is from Mama Elephant (Smitten).

Thanks so much for visiting today.  Hope to see you back soon!

Thanks Berry Much!

Hi Everyone!

I was going to wait until tomorrow to share this card, but we have a snow storm coming with the possibility of power outages.  Woo for snow, boo for no power...!

Anyways, I wanted to play along with the latest Lawnscaping Challenge: Texture.

So here's my card:

As soon as I saw this jar, I thought the ants from Happy Summer should be walking out of it with food in tow!  I started the card by making clouds in the background with Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I added the sun and clouds from Sunny Skies, added color with copics, some shadowing with stickles, and used one of my Lifestyle Crafts embossing folders to add texture to the clouds.  I then created a little background with the trees from Let It Snow and the house from Home Sweet Home.  The foreground includes the jar and strawberries from Summertime Charm.  I layered vellum and acetate to make the jar (like Yainea showed us how to do) and placed the strawberries in between the layers.  The strawberries are colored with copics, die cut with the matching Lawn Cuts dies, and covered in glossy accents for even more texture!  I then created a little ant trail walking away with the goods.

Lastly, I created a banner for the sentiment and placed it on foam tape for more dimension--it's what I would imagine an ant to say as he walked away with found fruit...

And there are a few more hours for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes, so I'll be entering that too.

Thanks for stopping by!
