On May 10, 2022, Dick and I followed a prompting and had the most sweet Tender Mercy of the Lord. Aunt Betty who married our Uncle Charlie in 1984 has lived in Spokane Washington since Uncle Charlie's passing in 2005. We've always talked about going to visit her and Uncle Charlie's girls. We were visiting Tatia's family in Medford, Oregon and took a day trip to Spokane. What a wonderful morning we spent with Charlies girls and a marvelous afternoon with Aunt Betty and her daughter Connie. Tatia had helped me embroider some hankies for Aunt Betty. We loved doing that together.
This is Uncle Charlie and our Charlie named after him. They had a very sweet relationship and we so loved him. When Uncle Charlie remarried after his wife Bonnie passed away in 1983, Aunt Betty joined our family and we have loved her ever since.
These are Charlie's Girls as Aunt Betty Lovingly called them. Betty had 4 Daughters and Charlie had 3 daughters. They loved all 7 of these girls
Here are 3 of Betty's girls and one granddaughter standing in for the missing daughter.

One of the many things Aunt Betty was known for was making home made fabric on paper cards. I have many that she has sent to our family over the years. She would chooses the funnest fabrics and very carefully and perfectly cut out the images and glue them onto the cards. They are treasures for sure. She was so good to remember EVERYONE in our family and shower them with love and a two dollar bill on birthdays.
I love these picture of Aunt Betty sitting in her comfy chair where she spent much time in her last few months of life.
Betty's daughter Carol is an amazing quilter and made a quilt for Betty for each season of the year to hang on her wall or to snuggle with.
Betty's grandchildren were a treasure to her and this is a few of them.
Aunt Betty used to come to Dallas for Thanksgiving each year to visit with her daughter Cindy who lived in Prosper, not too far from us. We often would get to enjoy her company when she came. I love this picture Tatia took with her Penny and Aunt Betty.
Tatia really captured Aunt Betty in this photo. I think if there was a photo in the dictionary under the word JOY, this picture would be placed right next to that word.
Aunt Betty Loved Gonzaga Basketball. I loved that she loved to wear her shirt while watching ballgames with her daughter Connie, also a loyal fan.
When it was finally time to say goodbye and realize it was time for Betty to go home to be with Jesus, it was hard but she was so ready to go. I was so very glad Dick and I were able to be there in May to let her know how much we love her and have learned from her kind and caring ways. August 9, 2022 at 10:30 pm, she went to be with Jesus and those loved ones who have preceded her in death. We love you Aunt Betty. She will have a graveside celebration this afternoon. You have a permanent reserved parking place in our hearts forever. Until we meet again!
BETTY THIOT OBITUARY
Went to be with Jesus of natural causes at the age of 97 on August 9, 2022. She was born in November 15, 1924 in Anaconda, Montana to Harold A. Nicol and Mary L. Shults Nicol.
The family moved to Missoula, Montana in 1935. Betty was active in High School Band and Orchestra, playing her cornet and was a member of Rainbow Girls, bugled taps at Campfire Camp for 10 years and also, for burial services for World War II boys. She graduated from MSU (now U of M) in 1946 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She met and married the love of her life, Jack F Cuthbert, on June 1, 1946. Jack was former MSU student body president and present manager of the MSU Student Cafeteria. To Jack's delight, they had 4 daughters. She was a busy stay-at-home Mom, but always available for her girls. They loved to entertain family and friends, float their 8-man raft in Montana rivers, and fish. Always made extra income from doing projects for MSU and filled Stamp Machines around town.
The family moved to Spokane Valley, WA in 1960. Betty was in Campfire for 22 years (leader for at least, 2 years for each daughter). Active in Tri Delta Alum, DD.PEO played in 2 bridge clubs, and was secretary for Jack, in his Mutual Funds business. She had a hand printing machine, that she printed foil names on napkins and cards. Betty loved animals and it was normal to see a rabbit hopping through their home or a small alligator in one of many aquariums. Often you would find them entertaining in their boat, skiing, and fishing on lakes in the area. They bought a condo in New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1970.
Betty's Jack went to be with Jesus on May 14, 1978. She continued to winter in Florida with her Mother Mary and friends. She added ordering Wedding Invitations to her little printing business.
On February 28, 1984, she married longtime business and family friend Charles H Thiot. He was originally from Florida, so they enjoyed times with many family members, and his 2 homes in Key Largo and Punta Gorda. They always laughed while entertaining and fishing the Atlantic Ocean and waterways. Charlie passed on March 11, 2005. Betty moved into Broadway Court Estates Retirement home in Spokane Valley, WA where she lived for 17 years. Became involved in all their activities, church, crafts, swimming, playing hand and foot cards, and many fun trips. Crocheted hundreds of hats for the YMCA and newborns at local hospitals. Made quilts for each grandchild and jackets with fabric designs. How many of you received one or more of her "fabric on paper" cards, maybe $1 within? Huge Gonzaga fan and still active in PEO making so many new forever friends.
Blessed to travel from Greece to Australia with hundreds of stops in between, making more friends. She loved the Lord and being with her family grew to 41 and was her joy. She sent out "74 years of Christmas photo letters" to the family and friends she loved, which left a wonderful family history.
In her last six months, she lived at "At Home Now". And like always before, made new friends with the owners and caregivers. They loved her and cried with us on her passing.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 2 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, and 1 brother-in-law. Survived by 4 daughters, Connie (Cary) Powers, Carol (Dave) Sather, Cathy (Doug) Bruce, Cindy (Tony) Elenburg, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Pall Bears Andy Sather, Ryan Sather, Taylor Elenburg, Jim D'Agostino, Scott Goodwin, and Gabe Smith.
