 Our Mansfield Thiots

Brooklyn and Addison have both been talking about Human Rights in school and have expressed an interest in taking the tour of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum.  We had tickets to go last Saturday and the weather had us reschedule to yesterday.  What a powerful experience it was to be there together and experience the sadness and the atrocity of what has happened in this world.
We each got a copy of the book The Hiding Place that Corie Ten Boom wrote.  I read it years ago and look forward to revisiting it.  What an important thing to not close our eyes about, but to be watchful of the evil, hard things that will continue if we don't speak up for the right.
The museum was on the third floor of the building and when you had finished the tour, they allowed you to travel back to ground level in the elevator.  Ricky snapped a photo of our group.

The tour is recommended for 12 years and up.  Addison will be twelve this summer and wanted to come.  Harper and Becky stayed home and will go when Harper is old enough.  Thanks for coming Girls!

Wednesday was the first day all three of Tatia's bigs went to school for the day.  Dick mentioned last night that something very good that has come out of Covid is that everyone LOVES going to school.  They were so excited and even though they don't get to go every day, they all got to go on Wednesday.  Tatia said she was almost gitty packing lunches, something that used to seem like a drudgery was suddenly fun.  She has been the cafeteria lady for home school lunches all year and this was great that she was able to send them on their way to school Wednesday.

This is Oscar's kindergarten classroom.  Notice the six feet separation of desks in the room.  Can you spy our Oscar?  He's wearing his favorite color of shirt, that might help.

Our Folsom Thiots

What a fun weekend this has been.  Jen's darling daughter Lilly has been home for a long weekend and everyone was humming, We're altogether again, we're here we're here.  We're altogether again, We're here, we're here, Here we are singing All Together Again, We're All together again, we're here we're here.
How many fingers can play the piano at once.  What fun it was to be together again.
This picture makes me Smile.  I love seeing those five siblings together with parents who love them so dearly.  Thanks Folsom Thiots.

Our Orem Thiots

A few weeks ago I mentioned that Adelaide had had a photo shoot.  I wanted to share some more of her darling photos.
The LA Thiots turned back into the Orem Thiots after a quick week in LA last week.  The kids loved being home with in their old bedroom and Jackson even loved sleeping in his crib.  I was amazed that he could still fit in there.
I love how Adelaides boots match their new couch.  Pretty snappy look!
This is a favorite of mine.  Pierce spent all his free time working on his backyard.  He and Stacy had a vision of how awesome it could be and with LOTS of work, they made the vision a reality.  I loved the Before, the During and especially the After!

There is something to be said about SLOW mail service lately,  it makes your birthday last longer for sure.  Elie has loved getting birthday cards in the  mail and she gets so excited. Thank you!
This one came with a sheet of stickers and a pink balloon.  Elie and Skyler played for an hour with that balloon.  Sky would blow it up and Elie would release it and giggle and giggle and giggle.  I didn't even know you could have so much fun with a pink balloon.  Thank you!

We were so glad when the weather was warm enough for an afternoon at the Blue Park this week.  This photo looks like Elie is in jail, it's a xylophone and it was breezy and played itself.  Elie loves going to the park and I took her and played for a while and then Sky came and had a turn after he finished his appointment and he had a great time too.

We Plano Thiots
My Friend Doretha is still in the hospital.  She was getting discouraged and I thought it might be fun to make her a blanket and pillow for her hospital bed.  She loves all things sports and is enjoying watching the Dallas Mavericks play basketball.  Miss Elie and I went to the store and found some Mavs fleece and some Mavs cotton and made her a blanket and pillowcase.  I'm not sure if there is much that could have made her happier.  She loved it and we are hoping this week she may be able to head back home.

My mom used to say that you go to the hospital when you are sick, but you must come home to get well.  I truly believe that.  I hope Doretha can come home soon too.  She's a very fun gal to do things for.  She told me she could have sold a dozen of these sets as all her nurses wanted one as did her doctors.

We got to feed the Missionaries in our ward on Tuesday night.  Right  now they can't come to your home to eat so we take them dinner.  I loved this picture of two snowmen, One tall and one Small who Elder Barneck sent us a photo of this week.  Our Elders are one tall and one small and I couldn't resist sharing this photo with them on there dinners.  Silly Sister Thiot.
This was Roots Tech week and I loved what I got to watch.  I'm hoping to watch more of the recorded parts.  What a great experience Roots Tech is and this way it was so nice we could see it virtually.  WOWSERS!
I got to teach Doctrine and Covenants Section 19 this week.  The Section where Martin Harris was asked to mortgage his farm to pay for the printing of the Book of Mormon.  It was a difficult thing for him to do and I loved how Jesus Christ explained that He too had to do something soooo Hard.  I love teaching seminary and I've got 14 great students.
We have a new family who moved into our ward.  They are expecting a baby girl in March and since we couldn't gather to celebrate with her, we surprised her with a Shower in  Box or two boxes.  What fun we had being the collection site to receive the gifts and then to get to deliver it to her on Saturday morning.  She was one happy mama to be!

Dick had an adventure at work this week.  Perhaps not the kind any of us are hoping for, but an adventure none the less.  The Plano Police contacted them needing some information about some possible burglaries in the area.  I'm glad to report that DCS was able to provide the helpful information that they needed to make some arrests.  What a scary thing it is when people are able to find so much about us on line.  YIKES!   I hope you've had a good week, not too eventful and that you have stayed nice and warm.  Sure love you,  Robynn

Thawing out from being FROZEN!

Ricky and Becky made the best of our very cold week.  Their home had a rolilng power outage and they discovered that they are pretty good at roughing it.  They enjoyed some snowy afternoons doing some sleigh riding.
It's pretty cool ok cold but boogie boards make pretty slick sleds.  The girls had a blast at a near by hill at the golf course.  Oh what fun when you are bundled up and cozy.

On Presidents Day which turned into Presidents Week, we celebrated Ricky being born during President Jimmy Carters Presidency.  President Carter is still alive.

Charlie had Mommy school this week at his request.  They worked on making letters with little colored stones.  As you can tell, Charlie boy Loved it.
Then they got play dough and made little islands with animals and rocks and rivers, it's was so much fun.  Tatia said she loves projects that all of her four big kids love doing together.  Thanks Emily for t he fun idea that you gave Elie for her birthday.  So fun in Oregon too!
Simon and Grace were both naping and weren't part of this until they can learn what should and should not go into your mouth.
Max had his first day back to school.  It was orientation day where they learned how to safely distance in lines and out to recess.  Max was in his glory and LOVED being back in his school classroom.  This was his first day back for 1 year.  That's a long time!
Max looked pretty cool in his camo coat and mask.  Max is such a warm weather guy and you really have to get firm for him to wear long pants and a jacket.  Way to go Max!

During Presidents Day we realized that Tatia and Jake were born during President Reagans Presidency.

Our Medford Granges

Last Sunday after church, Keelie and Callum had a Valentine scavenger hunt.  they loved it.
They loved finding clues written on hearts.  Liam, Lilly and Ewan are with their dad this week but are coming home soon.
When everyone was bragging about the snow this week.  Charlie posted that they awoke to almost twelve inches of Sunshine.  He makes me smile
Charlie and Jen are both President Reagan born too.
My brother Ric had a stay over with Charlie and Jen. Charlie designed and made this hoodie for Ric. Very cool Charlie!

What a fun surprise to get this picture from Charlie showing my brother Ric visiting.  He was in California to bag a Rabbit, a Volkswagen truck.  TOO FUN!

Our Folsom Thiots

Last Sunday afternoon, our Orem Thiots packed up their suitcases and headed west to their home in Los Angeles.  The kids were lonesome for the sunshine and the beach and wanted to go Home for a while.  So off they went.  They arrived very early Monday morning and after a few hours of sleep, they put on the swim suits and headed to their favorite beach.
Oh what a lovely day it was.  Jackson was chasing some seaguls, one of his favorite things to do and tumbled over right on his noodle.  He didn'tcry, just popped back up and kept running.  Oh to be 4 years old and so cute!

Two more President Reagan babies with Stacy and Pierce.

Our LA Thiots

Elinors little birdhouse hung outside to welcome any cold little birds who were looking for a warm place to warm up.  The worst part of this crazy cold week was the fact that Kara's school was cancelled just like everyones and so she got to have Elinor stay with her all week.  We didn't get to see her at all and that made for a very lonesome week.  We are looking forward to Monday morning when she will be back on track to come here each day for pre-school.
One of the gals who works with Dick has a 13 year old son who loves the Dallas Maverick Basketball team.  We loved the snowman he made wtih Lukka's jersey on.  What fun!
When we were cleaning our garage a few weeks ago, we discovered this little plastic snow shovel.  Dick had it set aside for the trash and I snuck it out saying, we just may need this again some day.  The some day was this very week.  I was glad Sky could use it to scrape off our sidewalks.  It worked pretty nice!
This was Skyler's go to lunch this week.  We were not sure if our power was going or staying on and this kind of food, is spot on for no power required.  PBand H is a win win!

Skyler has in his memory bank each of the Presidents of the United States.  I think our friend Kinsely Kate does too.  I remember her school class singing a song that listed them ALL.  Sky just barely arrived to be born under President Ronald Reagan.  Ask him to say them for you when you see him next time.

Our Upstairs Thiots

Dick and I were both born during the Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Yes, we are old.  It was fun to learn more about him this week.

I loved this quote from Mister Rogers about love. He had so many things right about this life.  I loved this
Friday morning when the sun came out, it was focused on the first heart on my bunting on my fireplace.  I loved how it gave me hope that this frozen week was going to defrost and we would warm up
There is sunshine in  my soul is what I began to sing.
I will say this, snow is beautiful and if it weren't so cold, I would love it.
We had a dear friend share a yummy meal of quiche with us.  soooooooo good.
I loved these kitties snuggled up to stay warm.  Reminded me of Skylers kitties upstairs.  We were surely doubly blessed during this week of storms.  We never lost water or power and were able to help a few who did to warm up.

My friend Doretha has been in the hospital this week.  Her home lost power and she needs it for her oxygen and breathing treatments.  She went to the hospital and has been kept warm and cozy during this week.  She's hoping to come home tomorrow.  I hope it can happen.  Like my mom always said you can go to the hospital when you are sick but you need to go home to get well.  I hope you have survived this crazy week, and that the sun will come out on you too.  SLY Robynn

Today is my baby brother Jeffrey Mike's birthday.  What a great day it was when he was born. I remember my brother Ric saying to my mom and dad when they left for the hospital, "Please pray to the doctor that its a BOY!"  and in fact it was a boy.  Poor Ric had three sisters and he was ready for a brother.  I'm so glad we have Jeffrey in our family.  Happy Birthday to you!
