“Our Father in Heaven, as fellow passengers on Thy planet earth, we humbly pray unto Thee. We thank Thee for life and all that sustains life. We thank Thee for the beauties of the earth, for order in the universe, the planets, stars, and all things of eternal significance. We thank Thee for Thy laws that protect and guide us. We thank Thee for Thy mercy and loving watchcare. We thank Thee for our families and loved ones who fill our lives with joy. We are grateful for all who are striving to combat the COVID pan-demic. Please bless them with protection and inspiration. Wilt Thou help us end this virus that has plagued so many of Thy children. We thank Thee for the leaders of nations and others who strive to lift us. We pray for relief from political strife. Wilt Thou bless us with a healing spirit that unites us despite our differences. Wilt Thou also help us repent from selfishness, unkindness, pride, and prejudice of any kind so that we can better serve and love one another as brothers and sisters and as Thy grateful children. We love Thee, our dear Father, and pray for Thy blessings upon us in the name of Thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ” (President Russell M. Nelson, "President Russell M. Nelson on the Healing Power of Gratitude," November 20, 2020).

Best Day Ever!

When Charlie & Jen announced their wedding, I had a smile on my face and couldn't wait to be there with them.  They planned to be sealed in the Sacramento temple which is so close by their new home.  They picked the date of November 19th.  That sounded perfect, but there was another plan that would come to be.  The crazy Covid virus made this plan A impossible as the Sacramento temple was put on Pause which meant no temple ordinances could happen.  They were told that the Oakland Temple which is about 90 minutes away might be a possibility.  Sure enough, they called and made an appointment to be sealed on Friday November 20th.  So plans were changed, the rehersal dinner was switched around and Plan B went into effect.  On Monday afternoon November 16th, as they were packing and moving and closing on their new home, the phone rang and it was the Oakland Temple notifying them that the Governor of California had closed all the temples as of midnight the next dayon the 17th of November.  They said they had an available appointment at 7:00 on Tuesday, the very  next day if they could make that work.  Oh my, Jen couldn't bear to tell Charlie the news over the phone so she drove to their new home where Charlie and his ward were unloading things from his house and explained what she had just learned.  They decided that they could make it work.  I love how flexible they are.

They phoned us who were in Orem staying with Pierce's family and asked if we could make it in time to Oakland.  YES!!!! We were so lucky that we had planned a bit of extra time and we went to bed early so we could awake early and head to California.  We made it and went by their new home and took Charlie and Callum their wedding ties and headed to Oakland.

Tatia was able to come too.  She drove by herself from Medford to Oakland and said she quite enjoyed her five hours of alone driving time.  She met us at the Hotel in Oakland and we had just a few minutes to get showered and dressed and head to the Temple.

When we drove into the parking lot, I squilled, Oh my, What a GORGEOUS Temple.  I couldn't believe how happy it made me that we were able to be there.  Ricky & Becky had tickets to come on Wednesday so with the wedding being moved up, they had to cancel their plans.  Pierce also wasn't able to come that quickly and the temple only allowed for 10 guests so it all worked out.  We had lots of Thiots there in spirit and were so glad Dick, Tatia and I could be there to witness this sacred occasion.

We loved meeting Jen's family on the temple grounds before we went inside.  We loved them right from the first meeting.  It was not the Temple they had planned to be sealed in, it was not the date they had chosen to be sealed, but it was in the house of the Lord, a very special and beautiful temple.  I think Heavenly Father knew that plan all along and I'm  so glad he helped to inspire us to be ahead of schedule so we could be there too.  It was the Best Day Ever! We got to  meet our 3 new grandchildren, Lilly, Liam and Ewan!  Love at first sight!

Rocky Tex Thiot

February 14, 2006- November 12, 2020

Early in Ricky and Becky's married life, before children joined their family, a small, fluffy white ball of fur came as a Valentine gift to Becky from Ricky. He was a beloved member of their family and they both grew to love him very quickly.  The first time I met Rocky was when they moved from Idaho to Texas and brought him with them.  When he arrived, he had red orange feet from when they let him out on their way in the red sands on their journey.  He instantly found a place in my heart as my first grandpup.  We had occasion to tend Rocky when they went out of town and we always enjoyed having him around.  When Brooklyn born about a year later, she too grew to love Rocky and he her.  She loved playing with him and he was most patient with a little ear tugging or tail pulling.  They were fast friends. Addison joined the family two years later and she too loved Rocky and they were good buddys too.  Three years later,  while making preparations for Miss Harper to join the family, Becky sewed the most incredible drapes for the nursery I have ever seen.  They were white with ruffles on top of ruffles.  Becky worked for hours on these darling drapes and I even got to come one day and help finish them up.  When Becky hung them in Harpers nursery, which had formally been the guest bedroom and Rocky's room, Rocky went in and made his mark of piddle on those beautiful drapes.  After all the time and energy Becky had invested in those drapes, that was it and Rocky was no longer welcome in their home.  Ricky was asked to take Rocky to the Animal Shelter.  Ricky called me from the shelter in tears asking if Dad and I could possible give Rocky a home until he could find a better place for Rocky to stay.  I said "Yes" and that was the day that I broke all my promises of never having a dog.  You see, I was not really a dog person.  We have had cats in our family and each cat has come to us, we've never gone looking for a cat, but somehow, we've had them.  I always thought that dogs were too much trouble or too much responsibility.  Cats were more independent and can be left home alone for a day or two where dogs need to be let outside and fed and walked and loved daily.  This was a new adventure for Dick and I and the funny things was, we both fell in love with Rocky at our house.  Rocky's piddling problem was not left in Mansfield where it started but continued and so I sewed him a few pairs of what we call Man Pants.  You would stick a sanitary pad inside and wrap it around
this middle and if he had accidents, they were trapped in his pants.  Ok, this is more information than any wants to read, but I wanted to remember when Rocky first joined our family.  It's been 8 years that we've had him and he has surely worked his way into our hearts.  About a year ago, Rocky started to really slow down.  Our daily walks became shorter and some days, even ended with me carrying him for part of the way.  I didn't mind, I loved him and enjoyed holding him.  Then as he continued to age, we could tell he wasn't feeling well.  He spent most of his days sleeping during this last few months but continued to wake up at 4:00 in the morning for a trip outside and then he was ready for breakfast.  Quite an early bird Mr. Rocky was.  Dick was usually the one who would jump out of bed and let Rocky out and feed him.  The last few weeks, Rocky's interest in his food was gone.  He usually would gobble it up, but lately he just left it in the bowl.  Dick had said to me several times over the past month that he felt like it was time to let Rocky go to heaven.  You could tell he was not felling good as he laid there moaning and it was soo hard for me to even consider that.  Friends of mine had recommended a service that could come to your home and administer a drug that would send that little guy to heaven.  I even got brave one day to check on it and I just couldn't do it.  On Thursday, November 12th, Dick and I together took Rocky to the vet.  Dr. Brewer took a look at him and agreed that he had in fact had a great life and that the quality of his life was limited and it might be a kind thing to say Good bye to Rocky.  Dick and I   had a prayer in his car and both felt that this was the best They took Rocky and gave him an IV in his leg and invited Dick and I to come into the room and gave him a shot to relax him.  He laid right down and looked to be asleep.  Then the Dr gave him the med that stopped his little heart.  We were right there with him and he was so brave.  He didn't cry or anything he just slipped off to sleep.  This has been hard, but I know Rocky is up in Puppy Heaven running around without his man pants on and having the time of his life.  He really was a blessing to  our whole family.  When Skyler told Elinor that Rocky had died, she said "Rocky loved me and he made silly noises".  She was right.  Rocky loved all of our grandkids.  It was only Mister Max when he was a little guy that he took a nibble of.  He was sorry I'm sure but couldn't resist.  Max, I understand as  Rocky has bitten me several time recently.  I'm sure it's just because he was feeling so poorly and trying to tell me to watch and listen to him and be able to let him go.  After many prayers, that's what we knew was right for Rocky.  My heart is sad and I came home and packaged up his left over food for a friend and washed his dog bed and toys.  Rocky, thanks for proving me wrong that I really am a dog lover, at least a Rocky lover.  We will always remember the love you gave to our whole family.  We love you Rocky!

In ALL things, GIVE Thanks!

Our Mansfield Thiots

It's been a good week in Mansfield.  Everyone is well and safe. So Thankful!  Since Dick and I will be gone for Thanksgiving, we wanted to have a get to gether with the Texas Thiots before we left.  Ricky recommended a lunch date on Saturday.  To add a bit of Thanksgiving flavor, we ended with Pie.  Ricky may be the best whipped cream adder onner I know.  WOWSERS!  Beautiful job.  I'm sorry we didn't get any other photos from our fun lunch date.  I need to improve on being a photographer or assign one of those cute granddaughters the job.  Addison had a fun week designing furniture in her class at school.  This week they are having an actual furniture designer come to class to see how they did and give them suggestions.  She is really enjoying her STEM school this year.  She's learning a lot about group projects and finding it a bit difficult when some of the members in your group are on virtual school and that makes it tricky to work together.  Go Addison.

Our Medford Granges

It was crazy hair day in Medford one day at school and everyone enjoyed getting into the act.  Oscar won an award for his multi pony tales.  Max did his own and loved it.  Max also got to design an election day hat and he loved doing a photo shoot with his brothers wearing his hat too.  I loved this photo of the babies.  Tatia took them to the Mothers Room to change pants and they thought that place was the greatest place every.  Very comfy seating.  Such fun babies.  I loved Tatia's pumpkin turkey wearing a tutu even.  SOOOOO cute! It's really autumn time in Medford.  The trees are outdoing themselves with changing colors and dropping leaves the little boys loved playing in them this week. So Thankful for fall colors!

Our Carmichael Thiots

Moving is not very much fun, but Charlie and Jen are trying their very best to squeeze some fun in along with making final preparations for their upcoming wedding  Just 11 more days.  WOWSERS!!!  They've got a final walk through on their new home on Monday and then after the closing they can start moving things in.  Charlie will be homeless for a few days but hopefully has a place to stay.  It's funny how sunsets don't photograph as nice as they are in person and have you ever noticed that a sun set is so much better when shared with someone else.  Good Luck on getting through the next 11 days.  We are on our way on Friday.  So Thankful for you!

Our Orem Thiots

Our Orem Thiots have a tradition that the day following Halloween, they go right into Christmas mode.  They have put up their tree and decorated it and are loving their new home at Christmas.  Adelaide found the turkey feathers and loved putting together their pumpkin turkey.  What fun that was many years ago when we painted those feathers together.  I loved the photo of Pierce lifting Adelaide to put the star on the top of the tree.  Such a pretty tree.  I can't wait to see it next weekend.   Yippee! Jackson is loving being close to cousins who have a  motorcyle and who love taking him for safe rides. So Thankful!

We Plano Thiots

Elie didn't have school on Tuesday or Wednesday this week so she got some extra fun time to spend with Skyler at the discovery garden and they both loved it.  Turns out that Elie is quite a tree climber.  WOWSERS!  That girl can shimmy right up a tree.  She loved covering up Rocky in his bed on a chilly morning.  She loves Rocky.  She was also in the mood for braids this week.  Sky tried his hand at braiding and she loved it.  So Thankful

Dick and I volunteered to help address wedding invites for our side of the family and they arrived this week and we loved getting them addressed and into the mail.  I got to teach seminary on ZOOM on Friday and loved teaching from Mormon 7 which was Mormon's farewell address to us all.  What a difficult time to see the fall of that great Nephite nation.  It was a tender chapter to teach for sure.  We enjoyed our Dinner in a Pumpkin last Sunday and it was kind of sad to toss the reamainder of him into the trash this week when i cleaned out the fridge.  It was always kind of fun to open the fridge and see his smiling face.  Silly old Grams's love things like that.
We've got our Thanksgiving decorations up and Elie helped put the Thankful tree up on Monday.  I loved seeing all those dear people who I love on the branches.  Elie knew how she wanted to do it and she was a great helper.  Since I baked my last pumpkin, I had to go on a pumpkin hunt for my turkey pumpkin.  All I could find was a green specialty pumpkin.  I love him.  I hope your first week of November has been a thankful one. Sure Love you,  Robynn

Happy Halloweekender!

Our Mansfield Thiots

Halloween is a very fun time for the Mansfield Thiots.  They have a fun group of friends who host a Halloween costume Party and for the past four years, one of the Thiots has brought home the trophy.  This year was no different.  It was Ricky and Becky's turn to be the winners.  They dressed up as the Tiger King; Joe Exotic and Carole Baskins from the Documentary called Tiger King.  I'd never heard of it.  Brooklyn was a teenage soccer playing zombie, and Addison was a darling red devil with Harper appearing as a cute angel.  Go Mansfield Thiots. I did get to see Ricky for a few minutes when I met up with him to loan him our tiger for his prop.  I loved the photo of Ricky driving the girls to school dressed up for margaritaville and the temperature was 39 degrees.  He is such a fun dad!  Burr

Our Medford Granges

The Granges have been planning to be the characters from Harry Potter for months now.  When they took a trip to the enchanted forest earlier this summer, Penny bought herself a Hermione robe and we could all tell she would make a perfect Hermione.  Max was a shoe in for Harry and Oscar couldn't have been a cuter Ron Beesley  Charlie agreed to be Dumbledore and pulled it off wonderfully.  The babies are two darling characters too, whom I can not recall.  They hosted the six missionaries for a chile cookoff on Halloween and had two surprise guests join them.  Gigi and Bumpa couldn't stand to  miss the fun and came to surprise them all.  I loved it!

Our Carmichael Thiots

Halloween in Carmichael appears to have been dark and spooky.  Keelie was a witch with her friend Sophie.  The last few halloween's they've planned to dress up the same.  What fun friends.  I'm not sure what Callum chose to be this year.  I can't tell who he is in the photos.  It's November 1st and that means we are on the count down for a wedding.  YES!! Only 18 more days.  I can hardly wait!!!  Dick and I leave on the 13th to make our cross country drive to see our out of state Thiots/Granges and attend Char and Jen's wedding on the 19th!

Our Orem Thiots

With a T-Rex dinosaur and Spider man, Halloween is sure to be exciting.  When I talked to Adelaide, she was looking forward to a neighborhood Halloween dinner prior to going trick or treating.  She and her mom were making Carmel Popcorn to take to the dinner.  YUMMY! She said there was one house on her street that always passed out BIG candy bars.  She was pretty excited about that important fact.  I l'm glad trick or treating was still possible even during these crazy times.

We Plano Thiots

We've packed as much pumpkin Haloweenie's into our week as possible.  We've added some new pretty maple leaves to our tree house.  Oh the red leaves are so pretty, we loved making pumpkin pancakes and the chocolate chips were so fun to decorate with and nibble.  Mummy hot dogs were fun to make and quite tasty to eat.  Sky and Elie loved pumpkin carving day. It was the funest homework assignment ever.  She had to carve and label all the different parts of a pumpkin.  I loved that she wanted to carve the letter E.  Skylers was one of the Monster Ink guys.  Pretty fun.  Making orange play dough was great fun as well as a speedy haunted house with chocolate graham crackers.  Our friends brought us the cutest meat loaf  I've ever seen.  Can't wait to eat him.  YUM! We've loved reading all the halloween books in my collection and on Thursday, Elie wanted to have preschool in a tent.  So super Sky turned her school room into a tent.  It was totally amazing and she couldn't have been happier.  So sorry I have not picture of it.  It was magnificient!

When Dick and I started making plans for a cross country trip, we were afraid our sweet Tahoe might now make the whole trip.  It's 15 years old and has 158.000 miles on it. I've loved that car but when  you put more money into it than it's worth, it's time to think about replacing it.  Dick went on a hunt and found just when we were hoping for a fun Honda Pilot that should pilot us for the  next 10 years.  Dick said he thinks it will be t he car we can take on our mission.  YAHOO!!!  We listen to the BYU Devotional where President Oaks poke on Saturday and I was so impressed.  I wish he could run for President of the United States.  I think he could help us solve all the craziness in this country.  I hope you've had a good week and are looking forward to November!  SLY Robynn
