Our Mansfield Thiots

Ricky joined Dick in golfing in the BYU Management Society Annual Golf Tournament.  Dick said they came in 3rd place thanks to the two other players on their team.  They had a nice time on Wednesday.  I love their matching golf shoes.  Ricky's family invited Skyler to join them at Fright fest at Six Flags on Saturday afternoon.  They enjoyed some fun coaster rides and then the crowds got to big and they left. They had a good time fast.  Brooklyn sent me her Chapter book that she is writing.  She has five chapters so far and it's a great adventure.  She promised me a copy when she gets it back from the illustrator and has it printed.  I can hardly wait.  I'm so glad she let me read it early as it's hard for me to wait.  She sent me a photo of 3 more sonic characters she would like to make with me.  They look a bit over my skill set.  I'm glad she's willing to help.  She's amazing!

Our Medford Granges

On Tuesday, believe it or not, Simon and Grace turned 10 months old.  Tatia was excited for a fun photo shoot of them, but it did not turn out   quite like she thought it would.  Neither baby wanted to sit up by the cute sign she made and smile.  They were trying to crawl right out of the photo.  When she put them in the bumbo chairs to hold them still, they just cried.  She's always, always telling me what nice babies they are and it tickled me that neither wanted to sit still for a picture.  I think that goes with being 10 months old.  They are both on the move.  I love the photo you can see the ginormous chalk board Tatia built to go on her wall.  She has been paining and sanding and painting some more and soon, it will be cured and she will be able to start writing on it.  I can't wait.  WHAT FUN!!!!  It's perfect for her home school room.  What fun memories!

Our Carmichael Thiots

Monday marked one month before the wedding day, that means you can get a marriage license. Jen and Charlie were there and got theirs.  This is seeming real as we count down the few weeks.  Yippee!  Saturday night was pumpkin carving night combined with pizza making.  What a fun fun evening.  I love how your jack o'lanterns turned out everyone!  Way to go!!!!!  What very talented pumpkin carvers  you have.  I also loved that your new home has a roof!  It's almost ready for a very fun new family to move in.  YES!!!!

Our Orem Thiots

Pierce left last weekend for LA for a commercial shoot he was working on.  He has had a very busy week with little to no sleep and should be heading back to Orem today.  His family has missed him a bunch and Jackson has started Preschool this week.  Adelaide went with him to get him all signed up and when she got home she told her mom it was a good thing Jackson didn't have a phone or ipad with him at school as she would be calling him all day as she missed him so much.  I loved t hat.  I don't think I've ever seen such a cute preschool.  He is in the tater tots class.   How cute is that?  The commercial shoot photo is not really Pierce's.  Just pretend there is a guy in a sweet beard running the show, that would be him.  Safe travels PJ!

We Plano Thiots

I loved the I voted badges Dallas County passed out if you voted at the American Airlines Center.  Sky was sure that is where he was going to vote as the Mavericks had donated those snappy pins to all the voters.  I'm sure that increased the vote.  Plano just passed out paper stickers.  Not as fun but it got the job done.  We got to go to the StoryBook Pumpkin Patch this week and what a blast that was.  It was one of our last really warm days and Elie got a pony ride, and loved the maze that had a darling  play house in the middle.  She wanted to stay the rest of the day and play.  At the end of the pumpkin patch, after the hay ride, Elie could choose a pumpkin to bring home.  It was a little baby pumpkin and we promptly turned it into a baby unicorn when we got home.  What fun.  Sky was invited by his friend David to attend his very first World Series (LA Dodger vs Tampa Bay Devil Rays)  baseball game. What fun they that chose the new ballpark in Arlington for all these games. Sky had a great time and was happy David had included him.  WOW!

In Seminary we talked about 3 Nephi 21-22.  We had President Nelson come and share his talk he gave on Sunday morning of General Conference where he taught us what Gathering Israel means, To gather those who are ready to Let God Prevail in their lives.  I loved it!  Saturday would have been my Grandpa's 114th Birthday.   He passed away in 1971 when he was only 65 years young.  Sixty five doesn't seem very old at all.  Oh how I love him and it's always so great to remember him on his Birthday.  My Aunt Marie was visiting Salt Lake last week and she was able to go to lunch with her big brother Uncle Boyd.  Uncle Boyds sweet wife Deanne is in a care center in Ogden and has not been able to had visitors because of Covid.  It's so hard for him to be separated from her.  They have been married for 60 years.  I'm sure he enjoyed having Marie there for a visit.  I loved this quote from Gordon B. Hinckley about finding ways to be happy in this life.  When we think outside of ourselves, it's the very best way.  Saturday morning, we woke up to some chilly weather,  Dick took on the job of getting the furnaces serviced and filters changed and our home cozied up.  I also asked him if he could repair our globe which needed a little servicing itself after 35 years.  The groovy light not longer worked, so he removed the cord and tightened up the screws and it's much more serviceable now.  Miss Elie loves to look at it and find where she lives.  Sky loves showing her where he has traveled and where her mama has traveled.  We loved getting to do some painting this week.  I had a muffin tin out to make muffins and elie assured me it was for paint, not muffins.  It did make a nice paint holder, she was right.  I hope you've had a good week and that you too had a chance to cast your vote.  What a crazy time this is in Americas history.  I think my favorite yard sign I've seen this election season is one that says, JESUS for 2020.  What a difference it would be if we could all turn to Christ, to love our neighbors.  SLY Robynn

Halls Missionary Farewell!
Today was the Missionary Farewell for my friends Gary, Judy and Jena Hall.  They enter their Home MTC tomorrow prior to entering the  mission field for the Salt Lake City Church Headquarters Mission.  It was so wonderful to be there via technology that allowed for those who couldn't attend because of distance to be there and to feel the great missionary spirit of the Halls.  I loved their talks and I love them!

Skyler scored some great seats to the play off game at the brand new ball park in Arlington.  No, the Rangers are NOT in the play offs but the play offs are being played there.  Atlanta and LA played and what a game they gave them.  Ricky, Dick, Sky and Sky's buddy Matt had a BALL!  Perfect baseball weather and it was a very high scoring game, not boring one bit.  Take me out to the ballgame!

Our Medford Granges

Jakes parents offered to come to Medford to watch the kids while Jacob took Tatia on a MUCH NEEDED GETAWAY!  What a delight to have 24 hours together.  They went to Ashland and stayed in a lovely hotel and enjoyed a yummy dinner out and got to walk around the very quaint town and loved it.  The next day they took a beautiful hike and had such a nice time.  Gigi and Bumpa kept everyone very happy at home and it was a WIN WIN!  Before they  left town, they took an adventure all together to a place where it is good to hunt for Big Foot.  There is even a trap to catch him.  While they didn't see BIG foot, they did find some mighty BIG leaves.  Miss Penny is hiding behind that BIG one!  The Babies loved being out side and hiking.  Such fun memories!

Our Carmichael Thiots

Saturday we Ewan (YOU win) 9th birthday!  Keelie wanted to decorate his birthday cake and she is amazing.  I LOVED the giant E she put in the middle and then dusted with powdered sugar.  Ewan is not a fan of frosting so this proved to be perfect.  I love that he wanted to have an outdoor movie for his family party.  Jarassic Park is a favorite and everyone loved it.  They enjoyed going to breakfast to make the day wonderful.  I'm not sure what the dining room set up in the back of Jen's truck means, but it looks very fun!

Our Orem Thiots

Stacy and Jackson arrived very early on Tuesday morning.  The plan was to leave on Tuesday but they wanted to surprise Adelaide and Pierce and left a day earlier.  What a WONDERFUL Surprise it was to wake up and have them there.  Jackson and Adelaide have been thrilled to be home.  Adelaide has been wanting to find friends and she has lucked out to have 4 seven year olds very close by.  I'm so happy for her.  Jackson has a four year old buddy right next door.  Life is good in Orem, Utah!  Pierce leaves this week for a trip to LA for the holiday commercial shoot.  What a busy life!  When Pierce sent me the pictures of the billowing smoke coming out of Provo Canyon it scared me.  We are not strangers to smoke and fires.  I'm praying it's under control!

We Plano Thiots

This has bee a real birthday week.  Two of my Seminary students celebrated on the 13th and one of my ministering sisters and Ewan shared the 17th.  I've loved thinking about these sweet people in my life.  Saturday evening our family was teamed up with the Treese Family to clean our chapel.  Since nobody has come to the chapel this week, it made for a speedy clean up.  We had a great time and the Treese kids were amazing helpers.  Skyler and Dick did a great job of shining the bathrooms.  Thanks guys, nobody is every too thrilled to get those jobs but they didn't complain and then rewarded themselves with a trip to Simons for some sushi.  I think that was a great reward.

Charlie Graves bought one of Skyler's hoodies and I loved that he sent us a photo of him wearing it.  We've had a few Hoodie Mornings as the weather is cooling down which makes me happy.  Miss Elie and I took a fall walk looking for leaves one day and then we glued them on a piece of twine and hung them on her "tree house"  They make me smile.  Seminary on Friday was good.  I love it when my partner is the teacher.  She's amazing.  She asked me to tell the story that President Monson told about laundry.  You know I love laundry and I loved telling the story.  We loved making Pumpkin Cookies this week.  When Sky opened the can of pumpkin, Elie thought it stunk.  We had to laugh as she has been so excited to make pumpkin cookies.  She was willing to taste test the cookie dough and gave it two thumbs up. I gave a challenge to my Seminary class.  If they complete their On Line Seminary lesson DAILY, they may win the Mission Complete Reward of a bag of donut holes and a hot cocoa mix delivered to their front porch.  We had two winners this week and Dick, my uber driver is hoping that's all we will ever have. With 16 students, this could turn into quite a morning run.  :)  I loved this quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley. I have posted it on my fridge for a daily dose of remembering.  Love it!  I hope you've had a good week and you know you are loved!  SLY Robynn

Our Medford Granges

What a week it's been in Medford!  Miss Penny was nominated for the Fourth Grade Student of the Month for September.  Go PENNY!!!  The assembly was done on line and so the whole family could watch and it was wonderful.  No problem with parking and hiking to the school.  It was great.  I loved that they are growing sugar crystals at their house to  make rock candy.  I can't wait to try it too.  There was also a visit from a group of dinosaurs to their home.  I'm not sure how in the world this happened but I do know those Granges are very tricky!   WOWSERS! Our friend Cathy Taylor sent this photo of Tatia and Michelle and Daddy Taylor that was taken in 1995.  It made me smile.

We got some great news this week that the Sacramento Temple was able to schedule the sealing date for Charlie and Jen.  November 19th is the day that we are all looking forward to.  We are so excited and thrilled for this wonderful miracle.  I love the Harry Potter Shirts that Charlie has recently made.  He's pretty amazing for sure.  This top picture is their lunch between sessions of General Conference last weekend.  What a cute new family.  Miss Lilly is in Utah for a short stay with her dad.  They are missing her.

Our Orem/LA Thiots

Thursday was Adelaide's last day of school with her online school in LA.  They got to dress like their favorite Story Book Character.  She chose to be Pinkolicious. Oh she makes a darling Pink.  Saturday morning at 4:00, they hoped into their moving van and Adelaide took the seat as the navigator and they were off.  They loved watching the sun rise and had such a fun drive.  I loved when Adelaide called me and we were able to face time on the road.  What a fun traveling companion she was for Pierce.  Stacy and Jackson stayed behind for a couple of days getting the final moving preparations completed.  Then they will head east too.

We Plano Thiots

We had a new Taco Restaurant open in Plano called the Velvet Taco.  They had a friends and family night before their grand opening to help their staff learn to serve and we were invited.  Oh my goodness, what a treat that was to get to enjoy those yummy tacos.  The zoo also had three new baby lion cubs born a few months ago.  Saturday was the first day they were put out so that zoo visitors could see them.  Skyler has been looking forward to meeting them and when he heard they were out, he headed to the zoo.  He loved getting to watch them interact with each other.  Three cute baby lions.  Have you ever heard of Monarch Butterfly tagging?  Sky got to help with that this week and loved it.  It's the tiniest sticker they place on their wings and then are hoping in a few months they will find them in Mexico and be able to post on line that they have been found after their migration.  Pretty amazing.

Saturday was the baptism day for our sweet Grand Niece Lucy Hadlock. She has been waiting since August and was so happy to finally have her day come.  She is such a sweet little 8 year old.  I loved the pictures that Kathy shared with us.  She was baptized in the dress I made from my mom's special nightgown as were many of my mom's great granddaughters and was confirmed in the dress her mom Cierra wore to be confirmed.  Two special dresses for one special day.  I loved it!

Ricky's family left on Thursday afternoon for Orlando.  Months ago Ricky found some great airline fares to Orlando and they couldn't resist taking a trip to go to Disney World.  They have spent two days from opening to closing enjoying as many rides as possible.  I loved it when they face timed me as they went on It's a Small World.  It's my very favorite ride at Disney and it was something special to be there with them even virtually.  I'm so glad they had such a fun time.  Travel home safely!!!!

It's been a spiritual high this week reflecting on last weekends general conference.I loved these quotes from each talk.   I got to teach 3 Nephi 11:1-17 in Seminary on Friday and it was so great to get to share those beautiful verses of scripture with my class.  I Love those word of when Jesus Christ visited the Americas.  I hope you have also had a good week.  SLY Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiots

Our Mansfield Thiots are coming to watch the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference with us and Ricky promised to make his famous Peach Cobbler for dessert.  I can hardly wait!  I've tried to make his recipe, but somehow when he makes it, it's just better.  See you soon Mansfield Thiots!
Our Medford Granges
General Conference is a favorite in Medford.  I love how hard Tatia works to prepare Conference notebooks for everybody to help them have a meaningful Conference experience.  It's not easy with little kids as I so can remember, but so worth it to have them love the Prophet and apostles and all those who we get to hear from.  It seems to go by so quickly for me, but I'm sure it's a bit slower for them.

Our Carmichael Thiots
Charlie's birthday was this week and it's always been our family tradition to put up our Halloween Decorations on his birthday.  I love this amazing birthday cake with thirty eight candles burning brightly.  I hope the fire extinguisher was close at hand.  Blow Charlie Blow.  They met Jen and her kidos at BJ's for a birthday dinner.  They serve the very best root beer there and everyone was excited to go!  Happy Birthday Charlie!

Our LA Thiots
Monday was a school holiday and Adelaide requested being able to put on her school uniform and going to the school to take pictures.  What a fun girl.  She has missed so much being able to be in her class with her friends while online learning has been taking place.  I had a fun phone call from her and she was counting the days until they move.  Sh said there were FIVE reasons she was excited and I just had to write them down.  I have smiled everytime I look at her list this week.  I LOVED the picture Stacy sent of her wearing the same dress that Stacy wore when she was seven that her mom had lovingly made for her.  Hand Smocking is a lot of work and Stacy's mom does it beatifully.  I loved seeing Adelaide wearing it.
We Plano Thiots
We've had a fun week getting ready for General Conference.  Seminary on Friday was all about Prophets and the warnings they give us.  We loved studying about Samuel the Lamenite and compared his teachings to our dear President Russell M. Nelson today.  Both the voice of warning from the Lord for sure.  Fortunely, nobody is shooting arrows and throwing rocks at President Nelson.  We had a fun day on Thursday or preparing General Conference Journals and Conference crunch to deliver to our Seminary class.  I'm hoping they love Conference like I do.
When Skyler was a little tiny kid, I remember him saying that the prophet was coming to Conference and we needed to get our home cleaned up and ready for him to come.  Yes, this year we even added getting our cars washed.  We loved the Unicorn colored wax they coated my car with.  Looks so nice and shiny.  A Mighty fine wash in deed.  we loved the Peanut Butter Drive the city of Plano always participates in.  We loved dropped off our jars of peanut butter to help those hungry kidos who need food over the weekend.  The discovery gardens are filled with butterflys this time of year as the Monache Migration is taking place.  Skyler is hoping to be able to help with tagging those little butterflys next time they do it.  That would be a very interesting project.  We had a contest in our family trying to guess which Lego set these Lego guys in the hard hats came from.  Somehow, I couldn't trick anybody.  Dick left his hearing aids at home.  Don't they remind you of Lego guys in hard hats too?   I hope we all have our hearing turned up loud this weekend and can hear the voice of the Lord speaking through our Prophet.  Sure love you all!  Robynn
