 Our Mansfield Thiots
I hit my limit in not being able to see Our Mansfield Thiots on Friday.  Dick checked with them to see if they might happen to like to Meet and EAT at What a burger for breakfast on  Saturday morning.  It was sooooooooooooooo good to see them.  The food was great too, but the company was the best!  What a great start to our Saturday.  Thank you Mansfield Thiots for meeting us with us.  Becky said their days are going well as the girls each have their own spot in their house for school work.  Ricky's job is conitnuing to have training sessions which is keeping him busy.  He is counting his blessing that he switched to this company and said he knows Heavenly Father is really watching over their family.
 Our Medford Granges
I don't know if any move is fun, I'm sure it's not, it's something we just plain have to endure, but these Medford Granges made it look fun.  We had a virtual moving day with our big family.  All day,  we would send out messages of how we would like to help, what we could do to make it easier and do you know what?  I think it helped to keep Tatia's spirit a little lighter.  I loved reading everybody's suggestions and how Tatia's brothers came to her rescue over cyber space.  Jake is the hero too.  He worked soooo hard and what a blessing it was that his work was cut in half and he had the perfect time to get them in their new home.  This week, elective surgery are supposed to be starting back on the schedule so their lab will have more work to do.  Half time work is done, which will be good.  I loved how quickly Tatia is making her new home look like HER HOME!  She has a gift and plenty of energy to get it done!  I love seeing how great everything is looking.  I love that four friends came on Thursday to help her clean her Bentwood home.  Go Tatia!  Go Granges!  I'm proud of all of you!  Miss Penny's birthday is coming on Saturday.  WOW!  9  years old!

While I am typing, Charlie just sent me a text that has great big crocodile tears running down my face.  He was going through his missionary pictures to share with some one special and came across one that melted my heart.  It was a picture of my Dad, Charlie's grandpa at the Salt Lake International Airport the day Charlie left the Missionary Training Center and headed to the Philippines.  It used to be that people could go and tell Missionaries goodbye, but with the heightened security during the Salt Lake Winter Olympics of 2002, that was put to a halt.  Guess What?  My dad, who was very much a keeper of rules, thought that was merely a suggestion and drove himself to the airport to give his Charlie Boy one more hug and wish him well.  You see, those two had been best buddies Charlie's whole life.  Dad didn't think he could miss that opportunity.  Thank you Charlie for sharing that with me.  Sorry about the tears, but I just miss my dad as does Charlie.

What a way to get woken up on a Wednesday morning.  When you fill  your bed moving a a bit of rattling going on, somehow you know just what it must be.  We are sure grateful it wasn't a bigger number and gratful for all the trampoline jumping which has made bouncing seem like fun, that it wasn't too scary for anybody.  Whew! Now on a funier  note, Pierce has been doing a lot of work via video conference.  He was working out side as it was so nice one day and here came our sweet Jackson out to jump wearing only his big boy pants.  When you have a very private back yard, and you are very comfortable jumping in big boys, it's not an unfamiliar sight.  The unfamiliar site may have been to the person on the video call who caught site of his big boys.  We all nearly died laughing when Pierce shared with us.  I came across this photo of Pierce at college graduation.  Pierce as asked by a dear friend to help her up on the stage for her to receive her diploma.  I had forgotten about that privilege Pierce had until finding this picture last night.  He told me that she lives in LA and she attends a neighboring ward for church.  That made me smile!

Something that we loved this week was a curb side chat with Miss Elie and her parents.  Oh  my goodness how t hat made my Thursday.  They couldn't stay long, but I loved it.  The next day Sky asked if they could borrow our back yard and cook some Jdawgs!  You bet was my reply and I invited miss Elie to bring some fresh panties and a nightie ad take a bubble tubby after her swim.  Oh my goodness, she loved it.  She would often have tubbies w hen she was my Tuesday buddy but it's been a while and this was just extra sweet.  Speaking of sweet, Kara made Tatia's new choco chip cookie recipe with brown butter and sea salt on top and brought 13 cookies to bake at our house after the swim.  Now you all know, that 12 cookies is all a cookie sheet can hold, what do you do with the extra one, please don't ask, but I can tell you this, cookie dough is delish with brown butter.  Thank you Kara, Skyler and Miss Elie for  makign Grams day twice in one week. I found this funny picture of Sky and Kara on one of their first dates going to this fun color festival where you get blasted with colored chalk, they loved it and discovered they loved each other too.  Great Move Sky!

My co teacher in Seminary, challenged our class to keep a journal during this most unuasual time in our history.  I wish I had done it the first day she gave the challenge, but it took me a while to figure out how to I wanted to do it.  Can I just tell you what a blessing it has been to me.  I love watching for the tender mercy's of the Lord each day and may I share just a few this week has brought.
On morning, Dick looked out the window and said, "Is that a newspaper out there on the sidewalk? " I went out to see and lo and behold, it was three white daisies, three lovely little rocks, and three sweet twigs and two precious leaves..  I have no earthly idea where they came from but can I just say, it was the nicest way to feel loved.  It reminded me of the bouquet of balloons that landed on our front sidewalk last year on Dick's birthday.  I was sure his mama had sent them from heaven above to wish him a happy birthday.  And now someone sweet is delivering flowers, rocks twigs and leaves. Thank you whoever you are!  You made me feel Heavenly Fathers Love.
Another Tender Mercy happened to my friend Doretha.  Three  years ago, her mama Winona was in the hospital with pneumonia .   She was very very sick and when I went to visit her, I took with me a hand ful of pins that say I AM LOVED.  A jewelry store was giving them a way years ago and I had loved them and loved passing them out to people who I loved and who might just need a reminder that they are loved by God Above too.  When I went in Winona's room, her daughters were there and some grandchildren.  I simply pinned a button on them all and reminded them that Heavenly Father was aware of them and their sweet Winona.  Well, it's been nearly 3 years and guess what?  There is a nest of Robin's in Winonas beautiful Magnolia tree which she planted when she moved in about 15 years ago.  This family of Robins has hung one of those buttons, I am Loved from the nest.  If you look closely at the picture, you can see it's attached to a piece of twine.  The pin is rusted and aged from being out side but the message was sweet and strong.  "I Am Loved"  Doretha's granddaughter found it and came running in to tell her grandma, my friend.  She snapped a photo and sent it to me.  That put a smile on my face to see that Heaven is close by and sending love our way.
We have some water damage on our siding in the back yard.  I've been worrying about it and this week we found a company who can come and replace it.  They had been working on a neighbors home and I went down and got a business card.  I'm so glad they can fix our home.  It's been 30  years this month t hat we moved in.  I'm glad we can get it fixed.
In Seminary this week we taught about the blessing it is to be able to BEAR one another burdens.  I couldn't resist making Rice Crispy Bears to remind our claas about Bearing each others burdens.  I get to go deliver them this afternoon.  I love my seminary kids.
My brother Ric said he was needing a boost and so he had a car show on his front yard.  He called it a CAR LOVERS Virus show.  He has been working on all these sweet cars.  What a great brother he is.
Our friends and neighbors Craig and Vicki Nelson called on Saturday afternoon saying they had just cleaned their boat to get it ready to go to the lake in the summer time, and wanted to drive around the neighborhood in a parade with their grandchildren on board.  Dick and I ran down to Sandy Trail with a handful of candy to toss at the parade float.  Oh my what fun it was to see them.  The little kids were thrilled with left over Easter candy. and we all had a great few minutes waving to the parade!
It's been a good week for us here.  I hope that is how you are doing too.  You are in our thoughts and our prayers.  We love you dearly.  SLY Robynn

 Our Mansfield Thiots
I  had a fun day on Wednesday.  Brooklyn had challenged me to  make Tails, one of her favorite Sonic Characters.  I told her if she would draw the pattern, I would try.  It wasn't long before she texted me the picture on the right of tails.  I told her I didn't know if  I could do it without her help so on her lunch hour, she was able to give me some suggestions on how to make him work.  She kept asking me, when will I get him.  She was pretty excited I do believe.  When Graypa got home from work we dashed to the postoffice to make the 5:00 drop off and would  you believe, Brooklyn had him on Thursday when her  mail carrier delivered the mail.  She was pretty excited!  Thanks Brooklyn for a fun day of making Tails, kind of together.
 Our Medford Granges
I LOVED this picture Tatia sent me on Easter Sunday of her babies in their easter outfits.  I shared it with my friend and she said, Oh Robynn,  She has Double Yolkers!  I hadn't thought of that phrase for a long time.  But she is right, a surprise in an egg with two yolks is very good luck and these two have surely blessed our family.  My Mom is blessed with two sets of Double Yolker Great Grandchildren.  The others just celebrated their 7th birthday this very week.  I love this picture of Tatia on the couch with her six little ones watching the new disney movie Onward.  What a powerful movie about the power of family, brothers, fathers, mothers, I loved it and they did too.  The middle picture is Miss Penny teaching Primary last Sunday.  Our Home Church has brought many opportunities for stretching and growing.  I would have loved to have been in her class, wouldn't you?

I loved that Jen could come on Easter and help dye Easter Eggs.  She knows how to make everything more fun.  Speaking of fun, Charlie had quite an order for his Thiot Brothers Jeep Shirts.  He had a big production day on Saturday and got them done.  The silk screening machine he got was a fail so he was able to cut this with his vinyl cutter and iron them on.  They look Great Charlie! Charlie, Callum and Jen made these Fabulous buns on Easter Sunday.  They look soooooo good!  Dad and I saw a green, four door Jeep on Saturday.  It had a bike on the back.  Dad said, LOOK, That looks like Charlie's dream JEEP!  Charlie told me last night that his jeep is no longer blue, it's been mud colored for nearly a month.  I challenged him to a car wash.  Love you Char!

Adelaide and Jackson got their Grammy camp shirts in the mail this week.  The size was more like a Grammy camp sleeping shirt, but they were thrilled.  They also got their masks and liked them too.  Now what you can't see is something that arrived two days earlier than expected.  They ordered a water slide for their fabulous back yard and it was due to arrive on Tuesday but arrived on Saturday.  It didn't take long before the box was carefully opened, the pump was attached and plugged in and they were face timing me showing me what had arrived.  It made me so happy to see them so happy.  I can't wait to see it in person!  Such a fun yard during this crazy time.
Our Oak Lawn Thiots
Miss Elie and I have made good friends with two other little girls who's names begin with the letter E.  We always say they are the 3 e's  Ella and Evie and Elie all have  matching Anna Nightgowns.  When Ella and Evie's mama Emily, sent me a photo of them this week, I sent it to Sky who showed it to Ellie,  she said, "Those are my friends, in purple, two."  I loved it!  They took a trip to Fair Park which is closed by there are some parts you can walk around and Elie loved being outside even with crummy weather.  She doesn't mind, she's an outside kind of girl!

My friend Debra just moved to Arkansas and is raising 15 baby chickens.  Her son is  building her a chicken coop and I told her I have one too.  My cute chicken in the play house we have renamed it a chicken coop.  I have had a stack of to go boxes waiting on  my counter to return since Thanksgiving to our dear friends the Christensens.  I'm so embarrassed that it has taken this long to get them returned.  After our easter dinner Dick and I drove to their home and got to do a brief window visit with their family.  we loved seeing them.  The decorated the side walk to welcome us there.  We had a Zoom Easter story time with our kids and we loved it.  It's almost as fun as having our whole big family here with us at our home.  Thanks for coming.  I made list of things that need doing in each room of  my house last Saturday.  Just making the list kind of wore me out.  he he he ..  This Saturday I started on the laundry room.. It's the smallest room in my house but really needed some attention.  Dick was a great helper in getting things done.  Thank you Dick!  There is something really good about being Safe at Home.  It seems like we have time to connect with those we love and under normal times, don't have "time" to keep in touch.  I had the nicest phone call from my mom's sister Aunt Jerry yesterday.  For 34 minutes and 19 seconds we visited and laughed and just loved being together.  Thank you for calling me Aunt Jerry.  You made my day! I hope you have had a good week and that you are finding ways to be happy at home, whether it's sewing a silly character, visiting with someone at their window, having family over for Zoom story time, reading a good book, watching a good movie, cleaning your laundry room, please know that I'm thinking of you and that I love you and pray for your wellness and safety.  Sure love you, Robynn

I got a fun message from Brooklyn this week, she was wanting my recipe to make bunny buns.  We won't be together this Easter and she wanted to be sure to have bunny buns.  I told her that the original recipe came out in the Friend Magazine the year her daddy was born.  My mom found the recipe and made them every year she was alive.  Not only did she make them, she taught me to make them and I love teaching my grandchildren to make them too.  Brooklyn also shared the Sonic Easter Eggs she was hoping to paint this easter.  She has the funnest ideas.  I love these two pics of Ricky.  He has lost 20 pounds this spring.  I'm so proud of him.  Go Ricky!  I love him modeling the new shirt Sky designed for the Dallas Mavericks!  Happy Easter Mansfield Thiots!

Our Medford Granges
I loved these pictures Tatia took this week of Home Schooling in Action.  With six little ones, it's quite a process and it's been a blessing to have Jake home this week.  His practice has cut down to one week on and one week off.  This was his week off and he got lots of packing done and was a huge help with the kids in their school work.  The babies have started smiling and Tatia even caught a picture of both of them smiling at the same time!  Sooo cute!  Happy Easter Granges!
Our Carmichael Thiots
The weather was so nice for a long bike ride this weekend.  Jen joined in the fun and was the photographer yesterday.  Everything is more fun when Jen is along for the ride!  I love Keelie's new purple bike.  What great bikes, be sure and lock them  up tight.  Happy Easter in Carmichael!
Our LA Thiots
It has been a week of raining and pouring in Los Angeles.  I"m glad to report that it has stopped and they can go outside again.  Saturday Pierce took the kids to his work partner Kathleen's ranch.  She has a golf cart and Pierce let Adelaide steer the cart.  It was so fun to watch as he sent me a video.  Happy Easter LA Thiots!

Our Oaklawn Thiots
We had one HOT day this week and Skyler called and asked if he could borrow our back yard.  Nobody has ever wanted to borrorw our back yard. I filled up the swimming pool and got things ready for a fun swimming afternoon.  Miss Elie has had fun in the rain, the sun and the pool this week.  Skyler pins he designed came in and he has been busy shipping them around the world.  Happy Easter Oaklawn Thiots!
We Plano Thiots
My Temple friend Sister Boone had sent me some photos of the bluebonnets at Mt. Zion Cemetery. I asked Dick if we could go on Saturday morning before the rains came back and what a nice time we had.  Sister Boone's husband is burried there and she loves to go and clean up the cemetery.  She said she has always loved cemetery's since she was a young girl.  Such a peaceful feeling there.  We  loved the new neighborhood going up right beside the cemetery.  Dick was ready to sell our home and move into a brand new one.
On Friday night, I asked Dick to put some tarps over some holes in our siding in the backyard before the rains returned.  While doing it, a nasty bee flew out of the hole and stung him right under his eye.  OUCH!  It was not a fun thing, we are so glad he is not allergic and in a few hours it felt better.  My dad used to always tell me,  "It will better when it stops hurting"  How right  you are dad!
It's been a nice week to be home. Plenty of time to prepare for Easter Sunday.  I've loved the videos and scriptures the church has shared with us and all the goodness.  During this crazy time, it was so nice to have Easter to think about.  How I love my Savior Jesus Christ!  How I love each of you!  Happy Easter to you!

He is Risen and so will we! SLY Robynn

Birthdays and General Conference!

Sunday, April 05, 2020

Our Mansfield Thiots
This was Ricky's Birthday week.  Becky made his favorite dinner and they had a delicious Nothing Bunt Cake for dessert.  White chocolate Raspberry is Ricky's favorite and he was one happy 40 year old Birthday Boy.  We weren't able to be with him to celebrate so we composed a list of all the things everybody in the family loves about Ricky.  I can't wait until the print stores open again to have it printed BIG for him.  They had fun on Wednesday and went out into the bluebonnet fields and snapped some photos.  What a fun tradition this has been.  These little girls are sure growing up.  Harper had an assignment to write about a Super Hero in one of her classes.  I loved what she wrote. General Conference was great and the girls loved getting out the BINGO card to help them enjoy it a bit more.   We met up with Ricky and his girls this morning in a parking lot to share some conference crunch with them and a few other fun things.  It was sooooo good to see them if even from the car window!

Our Medford Granges
Max celbrated his 7th Birthday this week.  I can't believe he is already seven.  Such a fun kido.  I think they had more fun with the box his birthday gift came in than the gift.  He also got a fit bit for his birthday and has been literally raceing all around the house trying to get a lot of steps in.  There was a parade for the Elementary kids.  The staff and teachers drove up and down the streets honking and waving to all the homes with elementary kids.  Our kids drew a giant banner and decorated the drive way at their new house.  It's super close to their school and what fun that was.  Everybody loved it! General Conference was good.  Tatia said she remembered thinking during October conference that April Conference would be so fun as the twins would be here.  Sure enough, they are here and it was even more fun.  They may have been two of the nicest kids for Conference.

Our Carmichael Thiots
Keelie turned 12 years old this week.  None of us could believe she was really 12.  What a great 12 year old she is.  When she came home, their were balloons lining the driveway and a beautiful ice cream birthday cake in the freezer for her.  Charlie's Jen had made it and it did not disappoint.  Sooooo good.  I love that you can see Charlie and Jen in the mirror taking the photo.  They sure enjoyed General Conference this weekend and loved when Grandpa and Grandma Smith invited them to breakfast before the morning session on Sunday.  Yum!

Our LA Thiots
When Pierce sent me this photo of Jackson with his train, he said, Jackson is in his happy place.  I loved it.  I also loved the watch balloons on the trampoline.  Oh my, lots of creative stuff happening to keep everyone happy.  Bike rides around the neighborhood have become a daily event and everyone loves them.  They too enjoyed General Conference. Would you guess Pierce is off to rob a stage coach or off to grab a few grocery's at the grocery store.  WOWSERS!  I offered to make him a bit more user friendly masks.  You are awesome PJ!

Our Oak Lawn Thiots
Skyler has been doing some public service announcements on Social Media and I loved this coloring page he sent out.  I loved printing it off and coloring mine.  Thanks Sky.  Miss Elie has not enjoyed all our rainy days but when the sky is clear she is wanting to be outside blowing bubbles or something fun like that.  It's hard to say no to Miss Elie.  She's been used to being a girl on the go with Zoo trips, Butterfly garden trips, Perot museum and Aquarium trips.  Now to be home all day is a little rough for her.  We dropped her off  some puzzles this morning and that made her happy for a while.  If you look at the moon shaped window, that's Miss Elie's room.  She loves that she can see if from outside.

We Plano Thiots
I couldn't believe the dirty trick somebody pulled in Salt Lake about having to repeat a grade next year because of all this missed school. Quite a dirty April Fools day joke if you ask me.
I'm so glad I have two favorite weekends every year.  One in April and the other in October.  They are called General Conference weekends.  Oh how I look forward to enjoying the enriching messages from our dear prophet and other general authorities. I'm so grateful they figured out how to do it still even with this crazy time in history.  When Elder Stevenson spoke, I told my family on our message thread, that he is out cousin.  Sure enough, we share the same great great grandfather.  I loved that.
I loved making hot cocoa and cookies for the yard guys.  It turned cold on Friday and I hope they liked it.  I Loved making Conference Journals and not quite our regular conference crunch for my seminary class.  Thank you Tatia for the darling labels and tags.  Dick was a great helper driving me around to deliver them all.  Love those kids
Dick is still going to his office each day.  He tells me it is as safe as being home.  I'm trying to believe him.  I hope you've had a safe and happy week at home.  Just remember, We can do Hard things.  SLY Robynn
