 Our Mansfield Thiots
I loved this picture Dick took on Thanksgiving night.  We drove over to the Christensen's and gifted them with their Christmas PJ's and took a photo of everybody together.  There is something about being matching  that makes me feel like we belong to each other.  I loved it! I love these soft Christmas PJ's and those six darling children wearing them!  Thursday I had planned to go to Mansfield to pick up three little sweet hearts and the weather turned crazy and I turned chicken and wasn't brave enough to drive in the pouring rain.  I wish I wasn't such a chicken.  I missed seeing the girls but look forward to Monday night.
Our Medford Granges
May I explain the expression on Oscars' face.  When Oscar opened his Christmas PJ's, the company had put a size five into the size 3 package.  You can't really tell except for his face, that they were not a good fit and he knew it.  I am happy to report that his mama was able to exchange them for the correct size and he is much happier now.  After two weeks of the crud in Medford, I believe the Medford Granges are on the mend.  Our little Charlie was the last to get it and he is still not doing super, but better.  Everybody's coughs are hanging on tightly, but fevers are gone.  They had a fun visit with Aunt Tootie and Uncle Shawn for the weekend.  One of their friends was being married close by and so they came and stayed in Medford.  The kids adore them and they had such a fun time.
Our Carmichael Thiots
The Garfield Ward hosted their Annual Christmas Party on Saturday night and the kids enjoyed a visit with Santa Claus and seeing all their friends there too. I loved this picture Charlie sent me of his kids in their Christmas PJ's.  They arrived even before Thanksgiving and they grabbed them and put them on.  They know how to put a smile on this Grammy's face for sure.
Our LA Thiots
Oh my goodness, what cuteness is oozing out of these two.  Just want to grab them and hug them.  Adelaide's Christmas program was on Friday and Stacy was able to video tape it and share a portion with us.  Adelaide was chosen to be a dancer and what a fabulous job she did.  That girl has got some moves and some grooves.  I loved watching her and may have watched it MANY times.  Thanks! Adelaide wrote a Christmas story in school this week and she called and read it to Graypa and I while we were cleaning the chapel on Saturday morning.  We both loved her words and the illustrations were fabulous!

Our Oak Lawn Thiots
I sent in a request for a photo of Miss Elie in her Christmas PJ's and so I will save this space for her photo.   I had such a fun Tuesday with Miss Elie.  Our institute class was over so we got to bake Christmas cookies and just play all day long.  We did take a trip to Walmart for supplies for a project and she prefers to stand in the back or sit on the box of Rocky's dog food.  When we passed by the gold fish crackers, she new she needed some and picked up 3 packages of them.  Then when we got to he check out stand, she wanted to put all of our items on the conveyor belt, very carefully placed and just right.  Elie makes Tuesdays so much fun for me.

The 2003 movie Elf was showing at our dollar theater on Saturday night and Dick and I were able to borrow two darling kids who had helped us clean the chapel earlier in the day to go with us.  We all four loved it and loved looking at a spectacular Christmas light display in a near by neighborhood afterwards.  Three neighbors had combined efforts and it was breathtaking.  We loved it.  We are looking forward to out Texas Thiots Christmas get together on Monday night and then our trip to Oregon later in the week.  It's going to be a wonderful Christmas time.  I hope you have a very wonderful one too! Ricky's office had their Christmas Party this week and each of them were invited to bring a white elephant gift for the gift exchange.  As you might guess from this photo, Ricky was delighted with the gift he selected and I'm sure will be enjoying it throughout the holiday season.  Especially this week as the temperatures are feeling very much like Christmas.  This is Ricky's new Christmas suit.  He's going to bring lots of smiles to the dentist offices his visits this month!

Our Medford Granges
It's been a week of sharing in Medford, Oregon and not in the very best sense of the word.  Penny brought home a bug from school last Friday and it has been shared with everyone in the family minus Oscar and Charlie, (so far so good)  Penny is feeling better and was able to go back to school on Friday but the rest of the crew is still not quite back up to where they would love to be.  Bless there hearts, I only wish we were close enough to be some help to them.  Prayers are coming your way Granges.

Our Carmichael Thiots
I had a very unique and wonderful experience on Wednesday evening when my phone rang and it was Keelie with a Face Time call.  She and Callum were home waiting for Charlie to arrive from work in a few minutes and wanted to surprise him by getting out the Christmas decorations.  The tree was already set up, but not decorated yet and Keelie and Callum were two busy elves bringing in the decorations from the garage.  I was so impressed how they knew right where everything was and very carefully carried the decorations inside.  I loved watching them and could feel their Christmas excitement as they worked so hard.  They had both had a sick day on Tuesday but it seemed to be a fast bug and moved on out.  Thanks for the phone call you two.  I loved decking the halls with you in Carmichael from right here in Plano, Texas! One of thier favorite families had their son Curtis staring in Scrouge the play last night.  They loved going and supporting him.
Our LA Thiots
We had another unique phone call on Sunday evening.  We had three Thiot family's on the phone on face time all at the same time.  Oh my goodness, it was nothing shy of Crazy Pants.  Dick said afterward that it felt like everyone was right here together.  It was noisy and fun. Thanks Pierce for helping to figure out how to get Carmichael, Oak Lawn and LA all together at one time.  WOW! At our ward party on Friday night, they had a book that Pierce had helped make back about 16 years ago.  We loved seeing Pierce with his first beard!

Skyler had an exciting opportunity on Saturday night involving the Dallas Maverick Basketball team.  They had some special guests in town and needed an extra hand for filming a special part of the evening.  Skyler was chosen and had a great time.  I need a few more details, but it sounded great. Skyler and his girls are coming with us tonight to go to Bethlehem revisited.  We are hoping to get more details then.  I'm praying the weather will cooperate and we can go. I just know Miss Elie will LOVE seeing the STAR and the baby Jesus and the Shepherds and the lambs.  I am looking forward to being there with them.

First I want to say thank you for your prayers and concern on my old mouth.  I returned to the dentist on Tuesday and he removed the stitches and it has been slowly but surely feeling better each day.  Oh my, what a blessing that has been.  That was much too long to feel so miserable.  I'm not a very patient patient.  I learned that for sure.  Dick gave me has Saturday this week to help me catch up on everything that I have not felt well enough to do.  Thank you Dick!  Our home is looking a bit more like Christmas is really coming.  Our Christmas cards are in the mail, we got a good start on the Boy Scout District Dinner invitations getting ready to go in the mail, and a few more items of importance checked off the list.

One of the highlights of my week was listening on President George Bush's Funeral Service on Wednesday morning.  Perhaps one of the things that helped me to enjoy it was the fact that I was binding a sweet little Christmas quilt that I made for Miss Elie.  When each of our children have had their first baby, that first Christmas I've made a Christmas quilt for them.  When I started with Brooklyn, I bought five panels or the fabric and enough of the coordinating fabrics to make five quilts.  Instead of making them all at the same time, which might have been smarter, I wanted to make them each for the family who they were for. It's been a labor of love for sure.  I'm not sure why I didn't make Elie's last Christmas, but my brain must have been on overload and I was grateful last saturday when I woke up at 4 to have that little quilt I could go upstairs and work on.  I had just the perfect amount of fabric to finish it and when I checked with my friend who is an amazing machine quilter to see if she could quilt it for me, she was too busy.  I googled machine quilters in Plano and in five minutes had a reply to the first of four gals whose names came up.  She told me to bring it over and she would get to it as soon as she could.  Imagine my surprise and delight when Monday morning she asked for my address so she could drop it off to me.  I was thrilled to say the least and she did a great job.  What a blessing the internet is to find helping hands.
Back to the funeral, Dick and I listened to his son speaking for a few minutes together.  I loved when he would send me a quote that he had made that was meaningful to him and then I would do the same thing. It was almost as nice as having him right beside me.  Dick loved, "Die Young as Late as Possible".  I loved that all he wanted to do was hold his wife Barbara's hand and that now he is there with her again and his daughter Robyn too.  I so agree! I also loved "Preach Christ at all times and if necessary use words."  What a good man and fine example to us all.  I'm so glad I could hear those words.

I hope your week was filled with good words too and that you are one week closer to being ready for the greatest day of the year.  Christmas Day when we celebrate the birth of our Savior of the World! Sure love you,

Welcome December 2018

Our Mansfield Thiots
On Friday night, Ricky's family headed south to Waxahatchie, Texas who hosts the most lovely evening in Bethlehem.  We have gone several times since Brooklyn was a baby and it is the most delightful way to begin the Christmas season.  I'm so glad they got to go.  When Brooklyn was almost two, Dick and I took her and when she saw the star, she was enchanted.  I can still hear her voice saying, "The Star, The Star!"  Oh yes Brooklyn, it was the star and how we love seeing it.  I loved Ricky's Saturday outfit with out nice warm weather Saturday, the Christmas flamingo seemed most appropriate.  I love your Christmas tree in the background!  Beautiful!

The first snow fall of the winter arrived right on time on December 1st.  It's amazing how that cold and crispy weather brings the Christmas spirit along with it.  Tatia has had so much fun decking her halls for the holiday.  I can't wait to see it in person.  Dick and I get to spend 12 lovely days of Christmas with her family.  We can hardly wait!

Charlie got his outside lights put on his home.  Oh it looks so nice.  Well done Charlie! Jeep troubles have been a crazy focus of Charlies week.  He said he has renamed his jeep "Money Pit" and has been frustrated.  I am very proud of Charlie for being able to use his sweet skills and find and replace the needed part.  When you drive older vehicals, that can be a challenge for sure.  Way to go Char!

Pierce sent this photo to Dick and I this week.  What a very very happy day that was when we first met our little tiny Adelaide.  Thank you Pierce for sharing that sweet picture with us. Five and a half years ago.  My how you have grown little Lady!

A few weeks ago, Skyler asked if I could watch Elie on Saturday while he proctored a SAT test at Grand Prairie High School and Kara attended her Jane Austin Society Christmas Luncheon.  Nothing could have made me happier.  Dick and I loved taking her to the the Nativity Display in the Colony.  She loved seeing all the beautiful nativities and pointing to the baby Jesus.  What a sweet experience that was.  I wish I could have taken a picture of Elie's face when she saw Graypa on Saturday morning.  She was beyond thrilled to see him.  I loved it! Dick is a wonderful Grandfather!

Dick and I kicked off the Christmas season by attending the Light the World Nativity Display in Allen on Friday night. It was lovely and so filled with the Christmas spirit.  We loved the carolers there and Dick loved seeing his Priest Quorum adviser from 45 years ago.  Old familiar faces are wonderful at the holiday season.  Thanks for taking me Dick!  I loved being there with you and the scoop of peppermint ice-cream was delightful on the way home.
I had some dental work done on Tuesday.  An old tooth needed to be pulled and it did not want to come out.  Dr. Taylor fought with it for a couple of hours and finally got it out and did a bone graft.  It was not my best day.  It's been a miserable week and I'm hoping to soon be feeling better.  Thank heaven for Advil pain medication.

What a delightful surprise when cousin Pammy appeared at my door with two lovely poinsettia plants, one from her and one from my sister Lani.  They put a smile on my sore face for sure. Thank you both!
Dick and Keith got to Light the World at the golf course on Saturday afternoon.  What fun!
I hope your December has started well and that you have plans to Light the World with Service and Kindness this month.  I'm looking forward to the Christmas Devotional this evening.  Here's the link if you would like to enjoy it too.  https://www.lds.org/church/events/2018-first-presidencys-christmas-devotional?lang=eng   Sure love you, Robynn
