Our Mansfield Thiots
Ricky's office had their Christmas Party this week and each of them were invited to bring a white elephant gift for the gift exchange. As you might guess from this photo, Ricky was delighted with the gift he selected and I'm sure will be enjoying it throughout the holiday season. Especially this week as the temperatures are feeling very much like Christmas. This is Ricky's new Christmas suit. He's going to bring lots of smiles to the dentist offices his visits this month!
Our Medford Granges
It's been a week of sharing in Medford, Oregon and not in the very best sense of the word. Penny brought home a bug from school last Friday and it has been shared with everyone in the family minus Oscar and Charlie, (so far so good) Penny is feeling better and was able to go back to school on Friday but the rest of the crew is still not quite back up to where they would love to be. Bless there hearts, I only wish we were close enough to be some help to them. Prayers are coming your way Granges.
Our Carmichael Thiots
I had a very unique and wonderful experience on Wednesday evening when my phone rang and it was Keelie with a Face Time call. She and Callum were home waiting for Charlie to arrive from work in a few minutes and wanted to surprise him by getting out the Christmas decorations. The tree was already set up, but not decorated yet and Keelie and Callum were two busy elves bringing in the decorations from the garage. I was so impressed how they knew right where everything was and very carefully carried the decorations inside. I loved watching them and could feel their Christmas excitement as they worked so hard. They had both had a sick day on Tuesday but it seemed to be a fast bug and moved on out. Thanks for the phone call you two. I loved decking the halls with you in Carmichael from right here in Plano, Texas! One of thier favorite families had their son Curtis staring in Scrouge the play last night. They loved going and supporting him.
Our LA Thiots
We had another unique phone call on Sunday evening. We had three Thiot family's on the phone on face time all at the same time. Oh my goodness, it was nothing shy of Crazy Pants. Dick said afterward that it felt like everyone was right here together. It was noisy and fun. Thanks Pierce for helping to figure out how to get Carmichael, Oak Lawn and LA all together at one time. WOW! At our ward party on Friday night, they had a book that Pierce had helped make back about 16 years ago. We loved seeing Pierce with his first beard!
Our Oak Lawn Thiots
Skyler had an exciting opportunity on Saturday night involving the Dallas Maverick Basketball team. They had some special guests in town and needed an extra hand for filming a special part of the evening. Skyler was chosen and had a great time. I need a few more details, but it sounded great. Skyler and his girls are coming with us tonight to go to Bethlehem revisited. We are hoping to get more details then. I'm praying the weather will cooperate and we can go. I just know Miss Elie will LOVE seeing the STAR and the baby Jesus and the Shepherds and the lambs. I am looking forward to being there with them.

We Plano Thiots
First I want to say thank you for your prayers and concern on my old mouth. I returned to the dentist on Tuesday and he removed the stitches and it has been slowly but surely feeling better each day. Oh my, what a blessing that has been. That was much too long to feel so miserable. I'm not a very patient patient. I learned that for sure. Dick gave me has Saturday this week to help me catch up on everything that I have not felt well enough to do. Thank you Dick! Our home is looking a bit more like Christmas is really coming. Our Christmas cards are in the mail, we got a good start on the Boy Scout District Dinner invitations getting ready to go in the mail, and a few more items of importance checked off the list.

One of the highlights of my week was listening on President George Bush's Funeral Service on Wednesday morning. Perhaps one of the things that helped me to enjoy it was the fact that I was binding a sweet little Christmas quilt that I made for Miss Elie. When each of our children have had their first baby, that first Christmas I've made a Christmas quilt for them. When I started with Brooklyn, I bought five panels or the fabric and enough of the coordinating fabrics to make five quilts. Instead of making them all at the same time, which might have been smarter, I wanted to make them each for the family who they were for. It's been a labor of love for sure. I'm not sure why I didn't make Elie's last Christmas, but my brain must have been on overload and I was grateful last saturday when I woke up at 4 to have that little quilt I could go upstairs and work on. I had just the perfect amount of fabric to finish it and when I checked with my friend who is an amazing machine quilter to see if she could quilt it for me, she was too busy. I googled machine quilters in Plano and in five minutes had a reply to the first of four gals whose names came up. She told me to bring it over and she would get to it as soon as she could. Imagine my surprise and delight when Monday morning she asked for my address so she could drop it off to me. I was thrilled to say the least and she did a great job. What a blessing the internet is to find helping hands.
Back to the funeral, Dick and I listened to his son speaking for a few minutes together. I loved when he would send me a quote that he had made that was meaningful to him and then I would do the same thing. It was almost as nice as having him right beside me. Dick loved, "Die Young as Late as Possible". I loved that all he wanted to do was hold his wife Barbara's hand and that now he is there with her again and his daughter Robyn too. I so agree! I also loved "Preach Christ at all times and if necessary use words." What a good man and fine example to us all. I'm so glad I could hear those words.
I hope your week was filled with good words too and that you are one week closer to being ready for the greatest day of the year. Christmas Day when we celebrate the birth of our Savior of the World! Sure love you,
