Our Mansfield Thiots
After a wonderful week of company, Beckys two brothers who were visiting and her parents, Ricky just felt like going fishing for his dinner on Saturday night.  He said sushi sounded good and he and a buddy went to the neighborhood pond and here is what they caught.  Not bad  you too!  What fun it was to have all Five Jensen cousins together. I'm sure Becky's parents have not stopped smiling yet.  So glad they moved to Texas!  Beautiful little granddaughters!  I love sharing three of them with you Jensens!!!
Our Charlottesville Granges
Jakes parents left on Tuesday afternoon and that made 2 months of having company in the basement.  They put the sleep over bed away and Tatia said the basement felt so much bigger.  There is even room for the bounce house to be set up and the kids have loved bouncing around this week.  Tatia is so smart and if they get certain things done, they can go bounce for a while.  Saturday was an awesome day in Charlottesville.  It was the Day of Service and they planned things that little ones could help do too.  They  loved going to an elementary school and helping with the grounds clean up and also some work inside the school.  Penny and Max and Oscar were great helpers and Baby Charlie took a nice nap so I think you can say he was a wonderful helper too.  Way to go Granges.  Last weekend was Constituttion day and they went to one of the signers of the constitutions home where lots of special events were set up. They loved it.  I love this photo of Bumpa and Charlie sporting his hat.  So cute!!!!!!

Our Carmichael Thiots
This was a good week in Carmichael.  Charlie got home safely and made good time traveling on his own on Sunday.  Not as many bathroom stops as when the kids come too.  He had a fun weekend and was back to work early Monday morning.  There was a pancake breakfast at the kids school one morning and he loved getting to take them and feast on some good pancakes.  They had a fun time going to play lazer tag Friday night.  Their ward had an activity where she got to send a decorated a pumpkin and she was the winner of Most Clever Use of Materials.  Go Keelie!  She had a fun Activity day making Scripture Cookies.  I just love her activity day leader.  She does some way fun things with my Keelie Girl!

Our LA Thiots
Stacy had a busy day on Saturday preparing for the Sisters Conference in her Stake and so Pierce said, "Let me have the kids, please!!!"  He took them to Disneyland for the day like all good dads in LA do when it's their time for Daddy Day out.  Oh my goodness, they had a wonderful time.  I loved getting to face time with Adelaide and Jackson boy on their drive to Disney land.  It was nearly, almost as fun as being right in the car with them.  Thanks for calling me up you two!  When cleaning up after they left last week, I found a few things that they had left behind.  I loved packing up this little box and shipping it off to their home.  Adelaide said it arrived and she was pretty excited to get her sparkley bag back and her two missing puzzle pieces and her NEW YORK CITY Snow globe her daddy had brought her.  What fun!  The post office workers just love me as I come often with Grammy packages.

You may or may not remember 5 years ago when Sky had an assignment in a social media class to try to bring attention to a controversial subject.  Skyler picked offering caffeine on BYU's campus.  He got quite a bit of attention, was on FOX news several times and then it all died down.  Well, this very week, BYU changed their mind and now offers Caffeine on Campus.  The same reporter that interviewed Sky before contacted him and once again Sky was on the FOX News in SLC.  They were able to interview him via SKYPE and it was kind of cool.  Even though he is still feeling bad from his accident, he looked pretty dang good with his scrapes on the news.  Go Sky!  Ellie and I got to spend the day together on Tuesday.  I rode the train to town instead of scaring myself to death with driving, and I found their house and we enjoyed being together and taking care of Sky a bit.  We got to do some laundry which is my most favorite thing to do and we took a trip to the library and had story time with some children who were there picking up birth certifiicates.  We loved our time together and can't wait to do it again.

We Plano Thiots
I have been looking forward to last night for a month now.  There is nothing in the world as nice as General Conference and the Sisters Session, as I love to call it, is always a favorite of mine.  I had so wished that all of us Thiot Sisters could be together to listen, but it wasn't meant to be this time.  I'm going to start planning for March right now and pray that everyone feels good and can come listen together.  Laurie and Lani went together with Krista and Merijane and their girls and that looked so fun.  I'm sure my mom was smiling down from heaven above.  I got to listen in my home and it was lovely.  I loved this quote by President Uchtdorf: "There may be many things about life that are beyond your control. But in the end, you have the power to choose both your destination and many of your experiences along the way. ... You cannot allow your circumstances to make you sad. You cannot allow them to make you mad. You can rejoice that you are a daughter of God. You can find joy and happiness in the grace of God and in the love of Jesus Christ.  You can be glad." —Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Oh Yes, We can be Glad!
Dick has been in Houston since Thursday and was first there on business and then got to change his business suit for a Helping Hands shirt and was blessed to help with the clean up in Lumberton, Texas.  There is a great team there from our ward and they are having Sacrament Meeting this morning at 8:00 and then will carry on the work again until 4 and then will head on home.  Dick said they have worked hard and he was glad he could be there to help.  Thanks for representing our family Dick Thiot!

I got to make a baby quilt for a new baby who is due to arrive next month.  I love tying quilts.  I hope this little one stays cozy and warm wrapped in Sister Thiot's love.  Hope you all have a nice upcoming week.  General Conference is coming!!!! Can't wait for next weekend too!  SLY Robynn

What a Week!

Our Mansfield Thiots
It's been a tricky week in Mansfield.  Becky has been going to therapy for her sore back and neck and hopefully, will be feeling better soon.  Her parents are getting moved into their new home this weekend and her brother and his family are coming for a visit too.  I got to go to Mansfield on Tuesday to pick the girls up from school and I had three fun traveling companions in the back seat with me.  The girls were thrilled to see their cousins and we had a fun visit.  Addison had her first Soccer game with the Red Panthers and I'm happy to report they WON!!!!!  Brooklyn was invited as a guest to Addison and Harpers school carnaval on Friday night and they had a really, really good time.  Their new school knows how to have a fun fall carnaval.

Our Charlottesville Granges
This has been another nice week in Charlottesville.  The weather is changing a bit and the trees are starting to change into their fall wardrobe.  Charlottesville knows how to do fall like no place else I have ever been.  It's glorious in the autumn time and I'm glad Jake's parents are there to enjoy the colors and the fun company.  Today is a very special day for our Baby Charlie.  He is being blessed in Sacrament Meeting today.  I'm feeling kind of sad to be missing it.  I thought I would be fine sense I got to spend so much time with him when he arrived.  I'm going to pretend like I am there.  I love that tiny boy and it's been fun to "vote" with Tatia and she has tried to choose something special for him to be blessed in.  I think she made a great choice.  What a sweet little boy.  I'm glad Bumpa and Jake's Uncle Rod will be there to help give that little guy his sweet name and a blessing.  Charles Thomas Grange has a beautiful ring to it.

Our Carmichael Thiots
This was the race week for Keelie and Callum's school.  I was so very proud of both of them.  They each exceeded their goal and had a really fun time.  I think I would have been dead if I had run 42 laps.  WOWSERS!  Callum had a great soccer game on Saturday and won again!!!!!  Charlie left early Friday morning and drove to Salt Lake to be able to attend Grandpa's 89th Tailgate Birthday Party.  He loved being there to help celebrate and then Dick and Charlie took Grandpa's BYU Football tickets for the game with a very sad score.  They played Wisconsin who is ranked number 10 in the nation and WOW, they re GOOD!  BYU only scored six points in the entire game to the Forty points of Wisconsin.  Dick and Charlie still enjoyed it and loved getting to spend time together.  Charlie heads for home today.  Drive Safe Charlie!
Our LA Thiots
On Monday night, Dick and I headed to the airport and picked up Stacy, Adelaide and our sweet little Jackson boy.  Stacy's parents sold their lovely home and are in the mist of packing up and moving.  Stacy wanted to come and help and I LOVED having the little ones with me, while Stacy packed.  Oh my goodness, it was the very most time I have ever spent with those two and it was only made more fun when we got to have Elinor on a couple of days too.  What fun those little cousins had together.  I loved when Adelaide was talking to Elinor and told her how much she loves her.  Wish I had it recoreded.  Cousins do make the very best friends. On Friday night, Pierce surprised us by flying into Dallas for 16 hours and flying home with his family.  I LOVED getting to hug that great man and it was soooooooooooo fun to have a breakfast on Saturday morning to celebrate Grandpa's birthday.  Oh it felt so good to have so many Thiots in one room.  I LOVED it! Thanks for coming LA Thiots!  Can't wait for Thanksgiving!
Our DownTown Thiots
Since Skyler turned 29, it's been crazy challenging.  First he was sick sick with phnemonia and then on Monday night, he went out for a quick bike ride and low and behold he hit the curb wrong and flew over his handle bars causing some bad injuries.  Fortunatley, he was able to walk his bike back home with blood pouring down his face, not one soul even offered to assist him.  I'm glad he could get home and then Kara dashed him off to the ER after visiting with Jake and encouraging him to go.  He came home with stitches, and a broken nose, fractred skull and concussion.  Oh my goodness, not what was on the plan for a great week.  I'm so sorry, but glad to report he is doing a bit better.  Ricky picked him up and brought him to breakfast.  I think it was good medicine to be with his brothers.  Kara and Elinor have been in Austin this weekend for a freinds wedding.  Kara was one of her bridesmaids and went with her sister Lauren.  They are coming home tomorrow.  Skyler has sure missed them but has done pretty good taking care of himself.  Go Sky! Skyler and Elinor made place 35 in the top photos of the week on theatlantic.com  9/2-9/8.

Dick left on Wednesday afternoon for the rest of the week in Salt Lake.  He had some business there and then stayed for Grandpa's birthday party and went to the Football game with Charlie in the afternoon.  He is on his way home this morning and should be here by 9:40.  Yeah!!!! He had a good week and had his buddy Rich Bailey teach round two of Merit Badge College yesterday.  It's hard to be everywhere at the same time.
When everyone left after our Birthday Breakfast yesterday, I sad down and nearly collapsed.  It was a very busy week and I think I was exhausted.  Friday was my last shift serving as the Friday Morning Shift Coordinator at the Dallas Temple.  I have loved serving for the past two years and getting to prepare our schedule and plan for each week.  Stacy helped me make some beautiful cards to give to each of the sisters on my shift.  Thank You Stacy!  It was a nice day at the temple and I'm looking forward to being a worker bee and not the boss anymore.
Monday  morning I heard this strange noise coming from my water heater closet.  Not a good thing but as a tender mercy of the Lord, there was a plumber from Baker Brothers across the street at my neighbors home.  I dashed across the street and he cam over and shut it off and then send some nice guys over to replace the water heater.  Wahoo!
This was a crazy and wonderful week. Hope you've had a good one too. SLY Robynn

Counting Our Blessings

Our Mansfield Thiots
When our phone rings late at night, its generally speaking, not good news the caller is calling to share.  Such was the case on Friday night when Dick got a call from Ricky.  He told him they had just been in a bad car accident, but that they were all fine.  What a blessing.  A driver had been going way to fast and had not stopped at a stop sign and Ricky did not have time to stop or get out of her way.  Ricky and the girls were on their way home from Burleson where they had just traded in Becky's car for a newer model.  They were all excited about the new car and it even had a built in DVD player but now it's in the shop and we aren't sure if it will be totaled or fixable.  Cars can be fixed and I am counting my blessing that besides some stiffness and sore necks, which time call heal, all is well.  I'm grateful I was able to go to Mansfield to take Addison to her soccer practice and watch the girls while Ricky and Becky were at the hospital.  Counting my blessings that we are close enough to be some help.

Our Charlottesville Granges
What a blessing that Max had his first day of Pre-K this week.  He loves school!  We are counting our blessings as Jake got a phone call this week from Medford Oregon requesting a face to face interview with him in a few weeks.  They said they are having some bad fires in the area and the air is so smoky that they wanted him to see it as it usually is, just beautiful.  They are thrilled. Two other blessings arrived in Charlottesville on Friday.  Jake's parents came to town to meet our newest blessing, Baby Charlie.  They are both smitten and especially Bumpa.  He loves babies and loves to hold them and enjoy their sweet newborness.  (not sure that is a word)  Penny and Gigi have had some fun shopping time which they both love and the big boys have loved showing Bumpa their tree climbing skills.  Bumpa loves to help them climb trees.  What a blessing grandparents are!

Our Carmichael Thiots
Keelie and Callums school were having Movie Night on Friday night and what a blessing, they got to invite their little cousin Holland to come to the movie.  It was going to be showing outside like an outdoor theater.  They love doing that in their back yard so I'm sure they enjoyed the school too.  This coming week is the Fun Run at school and Keelie has been trying to get donations for how many laps she can run.  She said they raise money for new PE equipment and other needed school supplies.  She promised me she would not run more than 30 laps if I could make a donation.  What a fun girl you are Miss Keelie.  She had  a great activity day this week where they made a Family Home Evening Kit in a jar.  It included the recipe for some delicious camel apple dip.  Oh my, she promised to share it with me and I'll share it with you when I get it too.  What a blessing!
Our LA Thiots
One of my favorite blessings of the week came on Wednesday when Pierce called with two questions.  He said that Stacy's parents had just sold their lovely home and that Stacy wanted to come and see it one more time before they moved and she wanted to help her mama get packed up.  Pierce asked if Stacy and the kids could stay with us and if I could watch the kids while Stacy helped her mama. I gave a fast and very loud YES! and YES!!!!  So Monday night at 9:00, Stacy and Adelaide and Jackson will arrive for a week.  I can hardly wait!  What a blessing to get to spend some fun time with them this coming week.

Our Down Town Thiots
Another wonderful blessing of this week is the fact that Sky went back to the doctor on Tuesday and got a great big shot in his fanny and he is starting to feel better.  That was tooooooooo long to feel sooooooo bad.  He is not back to normal yet, but can surely see a light at the end of the tunnel.. On Labor Day, Dick and I had the blessing of going to Kara and Sky's home and lending some helping hands.  They had both been feeling so crummy for too long and needed some help to catch up on some chores.  Whenever you have Graypa's help, he knows how to make work turn into fun.  Kara put on the sound track to Mohana and it wasn't long until we were singing along making their house shine one again.  Thanks for letting us come!  Perhaps my very most favorite part of our Labor Day was getting to run to the grocery store and we got to take Ellie with us.  Can I just say she is the nicest little girl.  Oh, what a blessing she is to me and our whole family.  She is awesome!

loved this giant billboard downtown we thought it was adelaide

I made Dick breakfast this morning and I told him I would go and type up the Thiot Times if he would do the dishes.  He said he would be happy too.  I can still here him in the kitchen getting things all spiffed up.  What a blessing that man is to me.  Saturday morning he spent attending Merit Badge College as the presenter of the Communication Merit Badge Class.  It's a required badge and has quite a list of requirements to pass it off.  He had prepared all week to be ready and make some great work books and had every thing ready to go.  He had 3 last minute requests for scouts to sign up late and was able to make enough for them too.  He said the first class from 8-10 went very well and the second class from 10:00-12:00, not quite as well.  I'm guessing the boys were already getting a little tired from their first class and just wanted to get things passed off and weren't interested in putting in the time to learn the skills first.  Have you seen the movie, Larry Crown?  It has Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in it.  The character in the movie, Larry, was taking a Communications class and Julia Roberts was the teacher.  It's one of my favorite movies.  I told Dick he should just show that movie for the  merit badge.  He was kind of wishing he had after the 2nd class wasnt' too fun.
Speaking of classes, I went back to school this week too by taking a writing class.  A few years ago I took this wonderful class on writing your life story.  I loved it but wasn't able to take it as they moved it to Friday mornings.  I'm so pleased they switched it to Thursday this year and that I will be able to attend.  I loved the first class and I'm anxious to work on my assignment.
Dick had a marvelous Pre-labor day project of going through his closet and making some donations to things that he no longer needed.  He actually was able to fill 12 bags with his donations and what a lot of folks you have blessed with clothes.   His closet looks great now.  Way to go Dick!
This weekend is Stake Conference and Dick was invited to attend the Preisthood Training on Saturday afternoon and we both attended the Adult Session last night.  It was a spirit filled meeting and we both learned a lot.  I'm looking forward to the 10:00 session this morning and we are hoping to get their early enough for a soft seat.  Those folding chairs are not too comfortable, but they do keep you awake. Perhaps that is the blessing there!  Hope you have found ways to count your blessings this week too.  You are surely my blessings.  SLY Robynn
