 Our Mansfield Thiots
On Monday morning, Brooklyn and Addison both started back at Martha Reid Elementary this week.  Miss Harper will have to wait another week to begin her Pre-K Preschool classes.  She is excited but is enjoying her extra week of Summer with her mom.  We got some sad news this week that Becky's sweet Grandmother passed away.  They had just been with her 3 weeks earlier which was such a blessing for each of them.  I think she hung on as long as she could to spend time with her beloved granddaughter and great granddaughters.  She was such a lovely person and I'm so glad I got to know her and love her.  We will miss you Grandma Gloria, Gigi.  Ricky is out of town this weekend and Becky took the girls to Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday afternoon.  They all had a really good time!  Hurry Home RIcky!

On Monday morning, Miss Penny was invited to meet her two Kindergarten teachers.  Both of their names begin with the letter M so I always think of them as M&M.  We unloaded all her school supplies and had a scavenger hunt where she discovered all the different areas of her kindergarten classroom.  Penny is in a class that has Kindergarten, First and Second graders.  Tuesday was her first day and she was THRILLED to ride the bus home from school.  Everything about kindergarten agrees with Penny. She loves waking up and going early and even though it's a long day, she loves it. Go Penny!  Max is looking forward to meeting his teachers this coming Monday and starting school the following week.  He is going to love Preschool I am sure.  Oscar is looking forward to a quiet house and his choice of ALL the toys to play with in the morning while his siblings are away. Penny was invited to her friend Peytons's Princess Birthday Party on Saturday.  She had a lovely time.

Keelie and Callum started school last week, but with The Thiot Times Reporter out of town, I will report on it this week. They were both ready and excited for school.  Keelie is in 3rd Grade this year and Callum just started Kindergarten.  Fun story.  When Penny went to Meet the Teacher, there was a little boy in her class named Callum.  Of course, not the same Callum, but we still think that is very extra special to have someone with your cousin's name in your class.  When Callum went to school, he has a little boy named Jackson in his class. How sweet is that, that both of our kindergarteners have a friend named the same as a cousin in their classes.  I LOVED it.  Guess who is a full fledged two wheeler biker dude.  Yep, it's Mister Callum.  He has been able to do it with some assistance at getting started, but is now on own his own biker and quite proud of it.  Go Callum!  He scored two goals at his soccer game on Saturday.  What a great soccer player number 16 is this session!
Our L.A. Thiots
Adelaide's Preschool doesn't start for a few weeks, but while waiting for Preschool, she sure enjoyed a session of Yoga for Preschoolers.  She LOVED it and was sad when it came to an end.  She will be ready for Preschool when it starts.  Our sweet Baby Jackson is celebrating his 3 month old birthday today.  Can you believe 3 months have sped past since he joined our family.  He is such a sweet baby. Grammy misses you little Jackson!  This was a very big week for our sweet Adelaide.  She was able to give up/ Cut up/ and toss away her pacies.  This was a very big deal for this little angel. In celebration of this Huge event, they went to Disneyland for the day.  Go Adelaide!!!!!

Kara's 1st week of teaching school is behind her and she survived and enjoyed it.  When I returned home from being away, I was printing something with my printer and out printed Kara's first week of Lesson Plans for 7th Grade English Class.  I hope that she got by without this copy of it.  Sky has been working on a couple of new projects that he is excited about.  He's coming over tomorrow to get a little sewing help on one of them. I'm looking forward to that.

The month of August has been one that I will not soon forget.  I've been blessed to spend time with each one of my 10 grands and have loved every minute.  On August 3rd I flew to Charlottesville and drove back to Dallas arriving on Friday and left on Saturday for a long weekend in Los Angeles with Pierce and Stacy's family and Charlie and the kids were there too.  Then we flew back home on Monday and enjoyed two weeks with Tatia's family here with us.  We did every fun thing we could think of and loved getting to do them with Ricky's girls and with Uncle Skyler too. We left on Thursday the 18th which was Dick's mothers birthday.  We loved spending lots of the day driving through Arkansas which was where she was born.  We gave a shout out to the exit for Mulberry but it would have added many hours to our trip so we will save that for another time.  We arrived in Charlottesville on Friday and met Jake at Raising Canes for a yummy dinner and then on Saturday, Tatia and Jake took a quick getaway to a darling little town not too far away.  I loved getting to spend time with the kids and we had a really fun time together.  On Sunday, we had invited my dear friend McKenzie Moline and her brand new husband for a yummy dinner and game night and we all LOVED getting to know them better.  They are going to be in Charlottesville going to Law School for the next 3 years.  On Monday we went with Penny to Meet the teachers and on Tuesday sent the most excited 5 year old off to Kindergarten.  Tatia worked on Max's preschool bag while I got to play with the boys.  I loved it. The bag turned out amazing.  Tuesday night, the Freemans dropped by for a quick visit.  Brother Freeman was Jake's scout leader and they are the parents of Jake's good friend.  Brother Freeman has been riding his bike from Vancouver, Washington all the way to New York. They stayed the night in Charlottesville and we loved getting to hear about their adventures.  On Wednesday, I packed up my bag and said goodbye to Penny at the bus stop in the morning and headed back home to Dallas.  It's been a lovely month that I will not soon forget.  Tatia is a great driver and Charlie told me how lucky all of my kids are to have gotten Dick's driving skills instead of mine. He told me how surprised he was that I dared to go with Tatia on that long trip.  I took that as quite a compliment.  Thank you Charlie.
Dick has had a busy week and has gotten a whole list of honey do's completed too.  He had promised to do a few things while I was away and without me here to bug him, they had slipt his mind.  But with me back in town, he got right on them.  Thank you Dick for returning the extra sand, ordering a part for the diswasher, ordering a part for the tahoe and getting new filters for the airconditioner. He was also part of the set up for the Family First Aid  Emergency Prepardness training on Saturday. You are the BEST!  Have a wonderful week ya'll, SLY Robynn

Ricky took the two big girls wake boarding this week for their very first time and guess what?  They both loved it.  It's hard for me to believe they are old enough to even want to try such a thing.  Go Brooklyn and Go Addison!  What Brave Girls you are.  Ricky & Dick volunteered to be Super Sitters while Becky, Tatia and I had a field trip to Waco on Saturday.  They had six kids and didn't loose one.  They took them to a Back to School Carnival and out to lunch at Chik fil A and the kids had a ball.  Ricky requested some Kaloche's from West Texas.  YUMMY!

Our Charlottesville Granges
I don't think I have stayed awake until 9:00 each night this week.  We have worn ourselves out each day with making fun memories together.  Let me see if I can recall our week.  On Monday, Tatia and Skyler took Penny, Max and Oscar to the Dallas World Aquarium.  They loved it and Penny loved seeing the flamingos, Max loved feeding the birds and Oscar loved riding on his mom's back and seeing it all.  Sky was a great tour guide and they got to go through the Aquarium twice.  Tuesday we were invited to my Visiting teachers swimming pool for a swim and a picnic too.  We had a great time.  On Wednesday, we picked up Skyler and then met Becky, Brooklyn, Addison and Harper at the Perot Science and Natural History Museum downtown.  Talk about a great experience.  I had never been and everyone had a really good time.  Then for lunch we walked across the street and had El Fenix since it was Wednesday.  Yummy! Those six little kids were so good and patient as we waited a bit longer than usual.  On Thursday Tatia invited her cute friend from Med School Days to come over for a visit with her little boy and they had fun catching up while I served in the Family History Library.  On Friday while I went to the temple, Tatia's crew headed to Lantana to visit her Relief Society President who  recently moved from Virginia to Texas.  They got to swim with her grandchildren and had a really fun time.  On Saturday Becky, Tatia and I took a trip to Waco to the Magnolia Farm Shop and Silos.  They have a TV Show called Fixer Upper which we all love and it was a fun trip.  Do you get the idea why we are all going to bed early and sleeping well?

Charlie's family got home about 9:00 on Monday night after an extra fun weekend in Los Angeles. Their trip lasted longer than ours as they got to spend Monday morning at the beach and they had lunch with Pierce, Stacy and Jackson before making the six hour drive back home.  Keelie and Callum both start Back To School on Wednesday of this week.  They've had a good summer break and Keelie is looking forward to 3rd Grade and Callum is going to be a Kindergartener and is way excited too.  We face timed with them for a few minutes on Friday night when they were on their way to go Roller Skating.  Oh my goodness, I was NEVER good at that even when I had great ankles and great knees.  What fun!

Guess who attended Yoga Camp this week?  You guessed it, our tiny Adelaide was the star of her class.  She is really good and flexible and is amazing at Yoga and loved it.  She got to go for a couple of hours each morning and came home ready for a good nap.  What a fun week she had.  Pierce got a call on Monday inviting him to New York City.  He jumped a plane early Tuesday and was gone all week.  He learned a lot and had a good time but missed his family a bunch.  He's glad to be home, Adelaide woke up Saturday morning early and wanted to go Surfing.  Yes, you read that correctly. She has never asked to go before and so they were looking forward to a day of surfing.  She made Daddy Boy (Pierce) promise to not let go of her hand.  I loved it.

Back to School is in full swing for Kara.  New Teacher training began last Thursday and the students will come next Monday.  She and Sky have both caught late summer colds and aren't feeling very well but have been busy getting her class room ready to have those 7th grade English students come and be excited to learn.  I think having cute Mrs. Thiot for a teacher will be a dream come true for them.  I know I would love to be in her class.  Sky, thanks for being our Down Town Tour Guide this week.  You know how to get around those streets like nobody else I know.  It was really fun. One thing you can do when you are feeling crummy is enjoy the Olympics on Apple TV.  You can just choose which event you want to see.  I love that idea!  Feel Better you two!

On Tuesday, Dick jumped on a flight for Salt Lake for meetings on Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.  Delta Airlines was still not on schedule on Tuesday and made for lots of waiting and a 3 am arrival home on Thursday morning.  He met a young man on the flight coming to Plano and offered him a ride to Plano which made the early morning arrival a bit more interesting as they tried to find his hotel in the middle of the night. I'm glad to report that Dick removed his own stitches this week and had his last round of Rabies Shots on Thursday.  The Dog Catcher has still not been able to catch those mean dogs which is not a good thing.  Another lady in our neighborhood was bitten.  She made the Channel 11 news, they keep saying they are trying but those dogs are smart and are good hiders.
We've been enjoying the Olympics here a little bit this week.  We had fun making Olympic flags and cheering for Team USA in Gymnastics and in the Pool.  We loved cheering for Penny the swimmer from Canada.  She has a great name you know.
After typing this edition, I think I need a nap.  Have a wonderful week ya'll!  I hope you are feeling VERY OLYMPIC!  SLY Robynn

Addison has been in the dentistry business this week. She has pulled both of her two front teeth.  She really looks like a 2nd grader now! Back to School Shopping is well underway in Mansfield.  It's time to get three little girls ready to head back in just two more weeks.  Shoes and School Supplies were on the list last weekend.  It's amazing that we are going to have a 4th Grader Brooklyn, a 2nd Grader Addison  and Miss Harper will be a Pre-K girl. They sure enjoyed going to the Artisan Children's Theatre on Saturday to see The Little Mermaid.  What a fun place to introduce children to Live Theatre.  We are all looking forward to Beauty and the Beast coming in the fall.

I boarded a plan early 4:40 on Wednesday morning and flew to Charlotte North Carolina and then rushed to the gate for a flight to Charlottesville, Virginia.  What a thrill it was to be picked up by Penny, Max and snoozing Oscar at 11:15.  Penny had just finished her last day of Kindergarten Camp and was so happy to share all about it.  I loved it.  We headed for their house and made the final preparations for our Road Trip the next day.  We had a fun project of making friendship bracelets to wear on our trip. Once again we woke up early bird style and packed up Tatia's van and headed for Plano, Texas, our final destination.  What fun it was to see the beautiful country we live in from the road instead of the sky.  What good little travelers Tatia has. We arrived here on Friday evening.  Yahoo!

Speaking of Early Birds, Charlie, Callum, and Keelie woke up EARLY and packed up their car and headed south to L.A. to attend the baby blessing of Pierce and Stacy's sweet baby Jackson.  They made it in exactly six hours which is really good timing.  Traffic was not too bad at that early hour and they had a fun trip playing on the i-pad and playing lots of i-spy.  Keelie practiced singing on the way and it was a good trip.  They arrived in time for Callum to build a Lego before they got ready for the next adventure, a Dodger vs RedSox baseball game. It was soooo fun to be with Keelie and Callum.  They are such nice, helpful and awesome kids.  Keelie is an organizer and a planner.  She planned and scheduled all the acts for our Family Talent Show on Sunday night.  We all laughed and clapped and had a wonderful time.  Thanks Keelie!

What wonderful hosts our LA Thiots were for a bunch of us this weekend.  We loved being in their home and enjoying our beautiful grandchildren there.  Adelaide was thrilled to have both sets of her grandparents there and two of her cousins.  Jackson enjoyed lots of snuggle time and is such a dear little boy.  His daddy gave him a beautiful baby blessing along with his name; Pierce JACKSON Thiot II.  He really liked his name as he didn't make a peep.  He looked soooo cute in his blessing outfit that Stacy's mom had made for that little angel.  She is so talented and loves doing that for her grandchildren.  Oh it's fun to be grandparents with them.  Thank you LA Thiots!

Kara Started her New Teacher Training last week and is getting excited for the kids to arrive in not too much longer.  I hate to admit this, but I used to enjoy the teaching days just a little bit more before the kids started coming.  I'm sure Kara is not like me and will enjoy the kids more and more.  While traveling through Knoxville Tennessee, we got a text message from Skyler inviting us to the Opening Ceremony's for the Summer Olympics at their new place.  Oh my goodness, was that FUN!  The Butler Apartments are getting more and more finsihed.  The downstairs has a game room with lots of fun things to do.  Max and Penny LOVED playing skeeball and couldn't believe it didn't need quarters.  Thanks Uncle Sky and Aunt Kara for a fun night!

We Empty Nesters
In the last week, Dick and I have been blessed to see all 10 of our grands.  That has been awesome! We sure do feel blessed to have these great kids and their great kids in our family.  One of my favorite parts of this past weekend was the fact that my Dad and my little sister were able to meet us in Los Angeles and be a part of the celebrating of this new little boy in our family.  They were both great sports and made some fun memories with us.  We had two boxes of Tito Taco's on Saturday night that did not agree with sweet Lani.  I was sad that she felt sooooooooooooo bad, but glad that she was able to feel well enough to come to church with us on Sunday.  It was wonderful to be there surrounded by so many people who love our LA Thiots.  One of my favorite parts, besides the beautiful blessing was listening to Pierce and Stacy each share their Testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I think that was my favorite part of the weekend.  They are doing a great job with their sweet little family.  I loved watching Adelaide walk around the chapel greeting all her friends.  She was soooo very cute and I loved it when she stopped by our row for a hug of two.   We packed a lot of fun into those two days we were there and I even got to ride on Pierce's new scooter for a few feet. Oh my goodness, I didn't know I could be so brave.  We came home early Monday morning and were fortunate that the DELTA airlines computer glitch didn't affect our flight.  My dad and sister were not so fortunate and got an extra half day in LA at the Airport.  ugggggg.  Oh well, we are all back safely now.  Charlie's family got an extra half day at the beach and loved getting to have lunch with Pierce and Stacy and Jackson.  Adelaide was at her first day of Yoga Camp.  She was soooo excited to go.  I bet she was great at it.
It was hard to say goodbye to our California Kids but we feel so blessed to live in a day with air travel, and Face Time.  Somehow that makes it soooooooooo much better to get to see them and talk to them often.  WE LOVE YOU THIOTS! SLY Robynn
