Happy Birthday Pierce

Monday, June 27, 2016

On June 24, 1986, Mom Mom flew into Salt Lake to attend a Computer Conference hosted by Wycat Systems.  You see, the Jarrell Company had bought a new computer system and she had come to attend the conference that her favorite son was speaking at to learn more about her computer.  The Conference was held up at Park City and she stayed up there with Dad.  After only her second night there, she called me invited me to bring Ricky, Tatia and Charlie up to Park City to stay over there too.  Our 4th baby was already a week over due and I was sure I was going to be pregnant forever.  I was excited to head to cooler ground in Park City.  Mom Mom also invited my parents and Lani to come up on Thursday night too.  We had such a fun time swimming in the pool and hot tubing.  Little did I know, that was not recommended for pregnant ladies.  OOPS, it was most helpful in triggering labor to come and hence our little Pierce Jackson Thiot to come.  I went into labor during the night on Thursday  and Mom Mom drove me  home down the canyon and then right to the hospital.  Dad followed in his car and Mom Mom loved watching the 3 Big Kids while we went to have  baby.  Dr. Tanner was planning on leaving at 3:00 to take his sons on the Fathers and Son’s outing so he turned up the Pitocin and we had a baby in time for him to go.  WAY TO GO PIERCE!  What a wonderful 30 years it has been having you in our family!  I hope you have a Terrific Thirtieth Birthday! SLY mom

He is a kind, loving and wonderful brother. I couldn't be more proud to call him my brother. Love you, Peaches! Jake: Both of my initial thoughts are fun ones. My first memory that I recall is from when Skyler opened his mission call. After he opened his call, Pierce and friends gave Skyler a celebratory spray with sparkling cider. I just thought this is going to be a fun bunch of brothers! My favorite thought though is of going to the movies with the Thiot boys and sitting by Pierce. He inherited the fun trait of laughing out loud and having a public fun time at the movies. It is much more fun watching Pixar with the Pierce. Ricky & Becky: Pierce has a great smile and a contagious laugh.  He is fun to be around and is a great dad to two great children who we also love. Skyler: One of my favorite memories is sitting in Pierce’s room playing Goldeneye on the N64 and listening to Tupac and Outcast.  He was a Senior when I was a Freshman, but it was just such a good time.  Kara: Pierce and Stacy came to the temple before our wedding day and Pierce was amazing in helping us get great wedding pictures.  Mom: Pierce when you were born it was such a happy happy time in our family.  The night you were born, Dad took the big 3 to Provo for a wedding reception for our cousin Lisa.  Mom Mom came to the Alta View Hospital and spent the evening with me.  Guess what?  She held you all evening She couldn’t get enough of you and I totally understand that feeling after holding your sweet Jackson.  Mom Mom was crazy about you for sure.  When you started to talk and I would tuck  you into bed at night, you would say, I love you Mom and I would say I love you more Pierce and you would say, I love you the mostest!  You’ve always been a wonderful part of our family and we are so blessed to have you in it.  It’s interesting that when Charlie was born, he was going to be named Pierce, but when I looked in his eyes, I knew he was Charlie and not Pierce.  You are surely The Pierce and I love you!!!!

Happy 30th Birthday Pierce!  We all think you are Amazing! SURE LOVE YOU!

Our Mansfield Thiots
It's been over five weeks that Becky's car has been out of commision.  The first 10 days it sat in the garage waiting for the insurance company to figure out what to do and who would pay.  The next 25 days it has been in the shop waiting to be repaired.  The crazy thing is that the rental car they got ran out last week so this week they have been a one car family.  Becky has been a great sport and has had lots of fun summer activities right at home and the girls have had a good week.  The car should be ready SOON.  I'm sure there will be a giant cheer from Mansfield when they pick it up. Our car repair places aren't always so slow, but with our hail storms the past month, they have gotten way backed up on repairs.
Oscar was inside taking a snooze

It's Summer time in Virginia.  It was slow to arrive, but it has warmed up and the swimming pool has been enjoyed this week.  They had a fun day on Tuesday when some of their favorite folks who moved to Richmond a few months ago, came for a visit.  Porter and his brother Cowboy came with their mama to spend the day.  Tatia invited another friend and her two littles to come and play too.  The kids were so happy to have friends over to swim and eat corndogs and just catch up.  The mama's enjoyed it too.  When Tatia's car was in the shop on Friday, they loaded up the strowler and walked to the library, and then to the car shop to pick it up.   Oh What do you do in the summertime?

Keelie is out of school for the summer!  Wednesday was the last day and she is both happy and a little sad at the same time.  Keelie loves school, friends, and her teacher.  I loved when we were there last month and dropped her off to school, her teacher stands right at the door and gave her the nicest hug when she arrived.  I love teachers that love their students.  What a difference that makes for children. Callum took 2nd place in his swim meet yesterday and couldn't wait to call Graypa to share the good news.  Go Callum Go.  Keelie was a super swimmer too.  What a big commitment Swim Team is for parents and kiddos.  Lots of practice, lots of swim meets, and lots of fun too!  I think Keelie could have been at the Lego Convention with Sky and Graypa this weekend.

Little Jackson turned two weeks old yesterday and visited the doctor earlier in the week.  The doctor is way impressed with how well he is doing and what a good baby he is.  Jackson got to meet his first cousin this week when Stacy's sister and her little 1 year old Benson arrived from Seattle for a visit. Adelaide has been thrilled to see Benson and has been so impressed with his crawling skills.  She loves to crawl all around the house after him and have so much fun.  Earlier in the week, Adelaide and her daddy took their last trip to Disneyland on their year round pass before it ran out for the busy summer season.  Oh she loves that place and spending time with her cute daddy!

Skyler has been a lifesaver to Dick this week when he found himself in a pickle with office furniture to be moved from a storage unit to the office and home.  Nice to have such a great and strong son on projects like this that turn out to be harder and worst than you ever imagine.  Thank you Skyler.  Sky and Kara went to see Sir Spamalot and loved it. Kara got word this week that she passed her ESL test with flying colors.  She is going to be such a fun teacher.  I'm excited for her classes to get to know her and love her.  Her office needed her to come in on Saturday this week, so she got to come home early on Friday.  She made some gyro sandwiches for dinner that smelled like heaven on earth.  Its so fun to see the great things she cooks.

This might be one of Dick's favorite weeks ever, minus a few parts.  On Tuesday night, he and Ricky and Skyler went to the Rangers vs Houston Baseball Game.  The Ranger won!  It's always more fun when they win.  On Wednesday night after his moving party with Sky we were invited to Cousin Pammy's for a delicious dinner.  We got to go early for some pre dinner entertainment with Oliver playing his violin and Miles on the piano.  They are such fun boys and I am so lucky that they live so close by.  On Friday, Dick's cousin Eric and his family invited us to dinner at Benihana's to celebrate their daughter Jetta's 8th birthday. She and Keelie are just a few months apart.  I think they would be great friends.
George a few years ago.
On Saturday we attended a funeral for George De la Garza who was a remarkable man.  For the past 20 years he would come to our Family History Center and do research for his family.  He was a great researcher and helped so many other people with their family search too.  We will all miss him a lot.  AFter the funeral, Skyler had gotten tickets to go to BrickUniverse at the Plano Center.  It was a display of Lego projects from lots of folks.  You could build things, challenges with other folks and lots of interesting things to see and do.  Dick said there were a couple of thousand people who attended.  They were glad they went.

My sweet cousin Michelle had surgery this week and is doing pretty well.  She has a great nurse for a mom, my Aunt Marie and they've already gone home to recover.  She goes back to the doctor on Tuesday to get the pathology reports.  She is one great patient.  We love you Michelle and Aunt Marie.

The sweetest little package arrived in the  mail this week.  It is a darling little block with all of our newest little guys information.  Each time we've added a new grandchild, my dear back door neighbor Mary has sent us the most charming little memory.  I LOVE all 10 of them.  Thank you dear neighbor!  I hope you have had a nice week and that you know we love you and think of you often. Our Mansfield Thiots
On June 4th, 2012 our family welcomed little Harper Grace.  She has been a gift to us every day of her life.  Yesterday was her fourth birthday.  We celebrated last Saturday as her big sister Addison was having her birthday party on Saturday before dear friends left for the summer vacation.  It's a bit confusing, but let me tell you, it was a LOT of fun to be at Cheer Texas and to get to Cheer on Addison and all her friends from school, church and the neighborhood.  Graypa and I loved being there.  It was a huge gym where you could, run, jump and play to your hearts content. Brooklyn was a great helper and had a ball too. Harper loved sharing her birthday with Addison!  After Addison's party, she was invited to a cute friend of hers birthday.  Party on dudes!
Our Charlottesville Granges
Several months ago, in an effort to promote kindness, good listening, and good behavior, Tatia invented these cute jars with her kids names on them.  Each time you are "caught" doing something nice, listening really well, or doing something with out being asked multiple times,  you get to put a fuzzy ball into your jar.  When your jar is filled to the brim,  you have earned a special reward. This week the Granges were working extra hard on these said skills and Max and Penny each earned a set of play dough.  On Saturday morning, I got to visit with them while they were playing.  It was nearly as fun as sitting at the table and playing play dough with them.  Brought back lots of memories of my kids loving play dough too.  Thanks Granges! Oscar was not involved in this activity as his choice is to eat play dough instead of play with it. OOPS

This was a great week for our Callum Jay.  He is officially a graduate of Pre-K and is on his way to Kindergarten in the fall. Callum has had the nicest teacher and class mates.  He will miss them but is looking forward to Summer Vacation. I love his Graduation Hat. WOWSER! Great Job Pre School!   Keelie has three more days of school.  She finishes this coming Wednesday. The weather has really warmed up nicely and Swim Team's swim meets have begin.  That makes it feel officially summer time in Carmichael.  Enjoy your last 3 days Keelie!

Our Sweet Baby Jackson is One Week Old.  What a nice baby Heavenly Father sent to our family. Stacy's mama "Oma" has been there this week and gets to stay one more.  She has been a wonderful helper with the new baby and Adelaide LOVES having her there too. I LOVED this picture of them out for a walk together.   Pierce and Adelaide have planned some special Big Sister Activities to do together each day.  Let me see if I can remember a few favorites.  A Trip to Disneyland, yes that is true.  They loved going just the two of them and had a blast.  A train ride to the Natural History Museum.  Yes, Pierce filmed a video of Adelaide which made it look like she took the train by herself and went to the museum alone,  but I'm glad to report, she had her own camera man following closely beside her.  They had a camp out in the back yard.  Pierce has a nifty tent that you can set up from start to finish in just a matter of minutes.  It was so fun to sleep out side with the stars.  Pierce is a great dad and is really enjoying his Paternity leave that the great State of California is so famous for. What fun memories your family is making together.

Skyler and I traded cars last Saturday so they could go pick up a couch they found on Craigs list.  I enjoyed driving their cute little car and a day or two later I noticed that the glass around the front right headlamp was broken.  I was just sick that it might have happened while I was driving.  Sky told me that they had been driving on the highway, and a car had flipped up a rock and it collided with head light breaking it.  The head light still worked, just the case was broken.  When he took it to be repaired, so it would pass inspection, they said it would be 1400 dollars.  YIKES!  Sky looked on line and was able to order one for much less and his good friend, McKay came over and helped him install new headlight. So grateful for friends with great mechanic skills. I'm happy to report that it passed inspection and has it's brand new registration sticker on.  Whew!  Kara took her ESL test on Wednesday morning in the middle of a lot of rain.  She is waiting for the results.  I'm sure she did great!
We Downstairs Thiots
It's been a good week.  We've had lots of reasons to stop and smile and count our blessings.  On Monday our sweet friends the Bailey's let us borrow their back yard for a Memorial Day swim.  We had The Mansfield Thiots, Skyler, Kara was studying, The Frisco Christensen's and The Mansfield Padavich family who are friends of Ricky and Becky.  It was a lot of fun and Skyler learned to do back flips with Ricky and Ben Coaching him. It was so fun to see everyone enjoying eachothers company.  The slide and diving board were always in use.  We loved it.  Tuesday night Dick and I attended the temple in the midst of a bad rain storm. It's always dry and sacred ground inside the temple and we loved getting to do some family names together.  Thursday night the Sister Missionaries came for dinner and we treated them to our favorite Thursday night spot, Taco Bueno. They had never been before so it was nice.  They showed us the nicest video from Elder Holland about making choices on which path to take. It was really good. "So Keep Loving, Keep Trying, Keep Trusting, Keep Believing, Keep Growing, Heaven is Cheering you on Today, Tomorrow and Forever".  Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.   Friday night Dick and I went to see Zootopia. It finally came to the dollar theatre and we both loved it.  Saturday morning Dick had his Ham Radio super Saturday event  and then we headed for Mansfield for Addison's birthday party at Cheer Texas. We loved being there with her and her friends.

After the party we came home via Costa Vida for lunch and then we had time for a quick nap and off to Keilani' s Graduation Party.

It was a Hawaiian Luau with a roasted pig and the works. This is Joey's baby, four hears old.  He is so cute and fun.  Oh my goodness. That little guy loved roasted pig.  We hadn't seen them for a while and it was great to be there with their family and friends.  Keilani's in the middle in this photo at her seminary graduation.  She is a beautiful and sweet young woman who we love.
It's been a good week, we are so grateful for all of you and count you as our greatest blessings.  Have a wonderful Sabbath Day today.  Oh how I love Sundays!  SLY Robynn
