I am sure thankful for our Mansfield Thiots. On Wednesday, we met up in Grapevine for lunch and I brought home with me three little Thiot girls to help me get ready for Thanksgiving. They were thrilled that Grammy had Mary Poppins in her dvd player and they sang and danced along with Mary and Burt all the way home, (in car seats of course). When we arrived home we were greeted by Kinsley Kate and her brothers. It was soooo good to see them and we quickly talked Kinsley into staying overnight to help us ready for the morrow. First on the docket was to check everybody in and put their things away for safe keeping. Then we had a planning meeting and came up with a great list of fun things to do. I am so thankful that these little ones love to come to my house and help me. I enjoyed every minute and we did get lots done. Thank You Girls!
Tatia's family has been counting down the days for Thanksgiving eve. Why you ask? Well they had a special delivery arriving on Wednesday and what a great Surprise when they arrived earlier than they were expecting. Skyler and Kara went to Charlottesville for Thanksgiving. From what I have heard, they truly hit the ground running and have packed in lots of good times and made lots of great memories. Penny and Tatia spent Wednesday morning have a pie baking party. Penny is in charge of making Penny's Perfect Pumpkin Pie and Tatia made her nearly famous Apple Pie. I could almost smell them from the yummy photos you sent. Thank you and I'm still smiling thinking of the Dallas Thiot's and the Charlottesville Granges being together.
Our Carmichael Thiots
It's a tradition in Carmichael to take a hike on Thanksgiving day either before feasting or afterwards. This year the hike was at Lake Clementine. Now I know how tasty those little clementine oranges are so I'm guessing they may grown them close by. Charlie sent some gorgeous photos of him and his two little turkeys who love hiking with him. Grandpa Smith and Ian Smith also were invited on the hike and they all loved it and had a good time making great Thanksgiving memories. I'm so thankful we were able to be with our Carmichael Thiots a few short weeks ago and enjoy a prequel to Thanksgiving with them. I hope Callum realized on Thanksgiving that he really does Like Turkey.
Stacy's parents and her Grandpa and his wife arrived in Sunny LA earlier this week to share a Thankful week with our LA Thiots. Oh my goodness, do they know how to get a lot done in those few days together. Pierce took the week off and they were able to really get their yard into shape. It was great having good workers come. They trimmed up all the vines that had been trying to overtake their back fence and were even climbing on the garage. The amazing friend who built their benches brought the completed table over and it's on casters (wheels) so it can easily move about the yard. It looks amazing and I loved getting to face time with them to see it. They went to see the Last Dinosaur on Thanksgiving Eve. Adelaide has been noticing the signs for it all over town and was thrilled to go. She loved it as did everyone.
Our Dallas Thiots
Tuesday night I got a phone call from Sky asking if we might be available to take them to the airport on Wednesday. Their flight was at 6:30 and they wanted to be there two hours early in case it was extra wild and crazy with the business of thanksgiving eve travel. Nothing could have made me happier than to have shouted SURE!! You see, I wake up crazy early and it was so much fun to have some fun people to be with when I'm awake. Dick and I woke up at 3:20 and jumped into our clothes and drove down town and picked up our two darling holiday travelers. They were so gracious to transport a package for me and I sure appreciated that. They had an uneventful flight to our nations capital and rented a car and headed on the adventure to Charlottesville. Thank Heaven for GPS on phones. They did great and found those cute Charlottesville Granges in good time. I loved getting to be Kara's sub at the temple yesterday. It was fun pretending to be the "little" Sister Thiot. Thanks Kara!
We Plano Thiots
This has been an extra busy week for Dick. DCS, a company he works for is placing their annual bid with the State of Texas. Every few years they have to go through this horrendous process of bidding for the job. It's gigantic to prepare and they even talked about having to work right through Thanksgiving. Lukily, that didn't have to happen, but there were lots of early mornings and late nights. Tomorrow is the day it goes to Austin. Dick doesn't have to go this year which he is pleased about and hopefully they will know if a few weeks if they got the bid and if all that work was truly worth it.
As I am typing we are starting our third day of rain in a row. We broke the record for the most rainfall in the state of Texas ever this year. Now that is interesting considering we are in a drought. The problem is the rainfall all came at the same times. Not the best of planning weather men. If we could spread out all this rain throughout the year instead of bringing it all at once, that would be much much better. Let's hope 2016 can do a better job of it than 2015 did. So far, we are not floating away and for that I am thankful.
Thanksgiving this year was extra special and extra exhausting for some reason. Our company left about 8:30 and after putting the things in the fridge that needed to be there, I went to bed. I have to get up at 4 on Fridays to be at the temple at 5:30 and I was pooped. Dick promised to take care of things before he went to work on Friday. Bless his heart, he returned the chairs and took our big table topped down and did the best he could to straighten up. I came home exhuasted on Friday afternoon and couldn't even think about finishing up. I subbed for Kara on Saturday morning so I went to bed early, got up early, came home exhausted again but I am glad to report that the dishes are done, the sink is clean, and I can see my counted tops again. I think Stacy and Piece may have had the best idea of taking their company OUT to eat this year. I'm going to look into that next year:) I'm sure thankful for Dick and All his help and for everyone who came and brought parts of the feast. It was a great day to count our blessings. I hope you had a good one too. SLY Robynn
