Watch out for Sharks!

Our Mansfield Thiots
I love Ricky trying on a shark suit for a possible Halloween Costume.  It reminds me of the talk at General Conference given about barriers and how they are put there for our protection. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/10/blessed-and-happy-are-those-who-keep-the-commandments-of-god?lang=eng  It was a great reminder to me how much keeping the commandments helps to protect us and make us happy.  Ricky's family are all excited for Halloween. Tonight they have been invited to a special meeting where they are going to realign the boundaries for their ward.  I know that is a difficult thing when change comes but I also know the Lords hand is in it and it will all be all right. Friday was Addison's first grade field trip to the ZOO.  She has been so excited.  Becky was picked to be a field trip mom and Ricky got to spend the day with Harper.  What a great Friday it was!
Our Charlottesville Granges
I gave Penny and her mom a challenge this week.  They hadn't had time to decorate for Halloween yet so I challenged them to to do so.  I'm looking forward to seeing their spooky decorations in person on Tuesday.  Yipee!!!!!  I can't wait.  Penny was so glad to be back to school this week after missing 3 days while they were in New York.  She loves school and I'm sure her teacher loves her too. Oscar's first tooth surfaced this week. He is pretty proud or it, but doesn't like to show it off to you very easily.  What a cutie he is.  Max loved getting to enjoy the fall weather at the park several days this week.  He loves going on jogs with Oscar and his mom when they drop Penny off to school and then they get to play at the park.  Fun memories on nice crisp mornings in Virginia.
Our Carmichael Thiots
Keelie drew this tree picture a couple of weeks ago.  At institute class this past Monday, we talked about Lehi's dream and the tree of life.  I think Keelie could do an awesome drawing of that vision of the tree.  Keelie, I can't wait until I can see you and Callum in person.  It won't be too long.  It must have been a busy week in Carmichael, I haven't heard word one from them.  Charlie Thiot Phone Home!
Our L.A. Thiots
The news kept talking this week about the mud slides in Los Angeles.  Pierce assured me that it wasn't near by them but it had been crazy in some areas.  They hadn't even gotten rain yet where they live.  Now I have a question for you.  Have you every seen a cuter spaghetti covered face in all your life.  Now this is a girl who enjoys her food.  That must be some good spaghetti Adelaide!  I LOVE this picture of you.  Enjoy!

Our Dallas Thiots
Friday night, in the arts district downtown in Dallas was this really cool light show. It was called Aurora and had all these amazing light shinning on the tall buildings downtown.  Skyler and Kara went and loved it.  He invited Dick and I to come at 10:00 pm as it went until 2:00 am. Unfortunately, I am too old to stay awake that late.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Next time I'll be there.
We Plano Thiots
Monday was Columbus Day and that meant no school for Frisco kids.  Our sweet friends Ben and Rebecca were in Paris France and Ben's mom came from Idaho to tend the kids.  Nancy is a elementary school Librarian so I brought a pile of Halloween books to have her and Kinsley read for Family night on Monday night.  I had the two boys while she and Kinsley had some girl time and it was wonderful.  It was warm enough to go for a swim and to play on the playground at McDonalds.  I loved it.  I loved hearing Nana Nancy read,  she makes some fun voices when she reads spooky stories.
Dick had some crazy things happen at work this week with a server crashing.  Not a good thing to have happen.  He has been working around the clock trying to retrieve all the information.  He leaves in the morning for a week in Salt Lake to work on training Ben who will be taking over most of the Salt Lake duties he has been doing.  I hope the training goes well.
Saturday was the Great Family Search Conference in our Stake.  Our Family History director works so hard to make it all happen.  We had lots of people attend and I think everything went well.  I was the registration lady and we only had a few disappointed folks who had mailed in registration but we hadn't received it.  uggggg. The US Mail is not perfect, but pretty close.
I got to go visiting teaching this week.  I LOVE the message this month about becoming filled with Charity and Love.  "Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down.  It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily.  It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings, It is accepting people as they truly are. It is  looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others." President Thomas S. Monson.
I'm going to try harder.  Sure love you all.  Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiots
It was Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday and so their was no school on Friday in Mansfield this week.  Nobody was too sad about that, and Ricky and Becky got good reports from Brooklyn and Addison's teachers.  Uncle Sky was invited over Friday night for Family Movie Night and the girls loved having him there with them.  I'm trying to remember the fun movie they watched, but I am drawing a blank.  ugggg, getting old is so fun:) Oops Roger Rabbit, that's it! I loved this picture of Ricky and Becky on Becky's birthday date to Benihanas.

Our Charlottesville Granges
The Granges are currently on a vacation, getaway to New York.  Jake's best friend since he was a little guy, lives in New York with his wife.  They invited them to come experience New York in the fall.  They left on Thursday and are coming home tomorrow I believe.  Yesterday they said goodbye to Keith and his sweet wife who hosted them for a couple of days and took them to the funnest children's museum ever, and headed for Palmyra New York.  They were able to see where the Book of Mormon was printed, and many other wonderful church history sites.  Today they are hoping to attend a ward in Palmyra and tour the Hill Camorah.  It sounds like a wonderful adventure! Tatia just called and said when they attended the ward in Rochester this morning, two former members from our Plano 4th ward were there.  The Burgoyne Family and the Milnes, It's a small world after all.
Charlie said when he was emptying the trash in his building today, he found this on the board in Callum's class room.
 I LOVE it. Thanks Charlie
Keelie took this picture of the blood moon.  I LOVED it!

Our Carmichael Thiots
Saturday was project day for the Carmichael Thiot's.  Everyone had a job to do and at the end of the day, they had things looking good.  Keelie was in charge of cleaning off the patio and also working on the play she has been wanting to present.  Callum was in charge of digging up rocks in the yard and making a fine rock pile of them.  Charlie was mowing down the grass which needed a haircut before fall arrives.  I love how they can make work fun by doing it together.  Good job Carmichael Thiots.  Dick was able to play travel agent and get our tickets booked for our trip to visit our California kids in November.  I'm getting excited.
Our L.A. Thiots
Pierce started out the week in South Carolina and ended the week at Home, his favorite place to be. Stacy and Adelaide treated him to a day at Disneyland on Friday and they had a great time.  They are really enjoying their Season Passes.  It's fun as you don't have to stay all day to enjoy it, as you know you can come again another day.  What a happy place to be.   Adelaide has been really interested in halloween this year.  She loves the decorations and she has a couple of Halloween shirts that she insists on wearing every day and a pair of Pajamas that she need to sleep in.  They also went to the mall this weekend and they had a little train there. Adelaide LOVED riding on it and didn't want to get off.  I wonder where she got the love of trains?  hmmmmm When Pierce was young, his favorite Halloween book was The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.  I mailed his copy to Adelaide this week and I hope she will love it too.
Our Dallas Thiots
Kara left Thursday night for a quick trip to Salt Lake City.  One of her roommates was married in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday and she was invited to be there.  She had a nice time but I 'm sure was glad to come home on Saturday night.  Skyler was pretty lonesome with her away but was invited to a coworkers birthday party at a bowling alley on Saturday afternoon. I have an uncle who is pretty much a professional bowler, he came to visit us once and we loved bowling with Uncle Bud.  I told Dick one thing when we went, I said DON'T beat Uncle Bud.  Guess what, he did not listen and beat him.  Perhaps Uncle Bud was just letting Dick win.  Sky has been quite the bowler himself since  he was young.  I can't wait to hear how he did.
We Plano Thiots
This has been quite a week.  After a wonderful last weekend of soaking in General Conference, I've just been thinking about all the things I learned and I the things I would like to do better.  It's a good thing we have a long time to work at doing better.  One of my favorite speakers was Elder Devan Durrant who used to be our Mission President.  He introduced a new word to my vocabulary, Ponderize.  It's a combination of Pondering and Memorizing something.  He encouraged us to choose a scripture each week to ponder on and memorize.  I knew which one I wanted to be my first.  It's one I memorized many years ago and one that has deep meaning to me.  Helaman 5:12.  It's been our family scripture as we like to say our family theme is Our Family Rocks.  I've loved pondering on it this week and putting it back into my memory bank.  Thanks Elder Durrant for the challenge.
This was the last week the Dallas Temple was open.  It is now closed for 5 weeks of cleaning and renovation.  My cute assistant coordinator and one of our fun workers came over on Wednesday and we made the scariest mummy candy bars reminding everyone to have a BOO-tiful break.  Tonight is the annual Temple Devotional.  I'm looking forward to attending.  It's going to be a musical fireside which should be wonderful. Saturday night Dick took me to see the movie Inside Out.  I'm still thinking about how I felt about it.  Afterwards, we did something so fun.  Our backdoor neighbors who moved many years ago are now living in Frisco and just got a brand new grandson.  We took a quick visit to go see them and congratulate them.  I LOVED seeing them.
Dick helped teach his second ham radio operator class yesterday and the attendance was down from last time, but that happens.  it's a busy time of year.  Dick has been smiling a lot this week with the Texas Ranger Baseball team in the play offs.  I've enjoyed the games being during the day, I didn't even know about them.  Dick comes home from work smiling big.  I wish I could learn to love baseball like he does.
Have a great week everybody.  Know that you are thought of often and loved a lot. Go Rangers! SLY Robynn

It's General Conference Weekend

Addison's first two teeth came out this week, and the new ones are already there. WOWSERS!
Addison kicked it a great one
Brooklyn in yellow socks by her coach
Our Mansfield Thiots
Both Brooklyn and Addison had soccer games on Saturday, one right after the other.  They were both great players and were key to bringing home another game in the WIN column.  I'm so proud of both of them and can't wait until we can be there to watch them play. A few months ago, our Mansfield Thiots started a new Friday Night Tradition.  It's Movie night at their house.  Nope, they don't go OUT to the Movies, but they stay IN for the Movie.  It can not be a recent movie and so Ricky and Becky have loved introducing the girls to movies they loved while they were growing up.  It's something everyone looks forward to all week and when the girls have had a great school week, they get to add a slurpee to the pre-movie party.  Its so fun to watch your kids be parents and see what fun traditions are being made.  It makes me happy.
A great reward for being such good errand runners

Happy First Day of October!

Ten sweet little children
Our Charlottesville Granges
Tatia and Jake have six other families who have started a date night co-op.  I think I have told you about this before, but this Friday night was their turn to host the children.  Usually, not everyone is available to attend which is fortunate:) but this weekend, the stars were all aligned and EVERY one was able to drop their children off to Williamsburg Road.  Penny was thrilled out of her mind to have that many friends over.  Tatia was delighted that Penny is such a good helper.  Penny was the oldest of the 10 little wild indians children there.  They are dropped off at 5, all fed, fresh diapered and ready for fun, then picked up as close to 8 as you can get there to pick up your little children.  Tatia sent me this picture of all of them on the couch together.  She asked me to say a special prayer for her for that fun night.  I was so proud of all of them that they had such a fun time with all those little ones.  Curious George was invited to be an entertainer for part of the time.  I heard there was  a really great Dance party where Jake was able to teach everyone some of his great moves.  Oh I would have loved to have been there.

General Conference was enjoyed in Charlottesville too.  Penny and Max loved sitting in their tent to watch and listen.  Just like those little Nephite Children did.

Our Carmichael Thiots
Charlie's birthday was on Friday and his cute kids spoiled him with a new set of Legos.  There isn't anything they could have gotten him that would have made him any happier, that is for sure.  They know you well Charlie.  Instead of building them right away, they decided to save them for Conference Saturday to build them.

Keelie had a project she was working on to make Pumpkin bracelets and Callum was delighted to help Charlie with his Legos.  Between Conference sessions, they took a trip to Play it Again Sports, which is a great place to purchase gently used sporting equipment and upgraded Keelie's Bike.  She has ridden her 16 inch bike for the past 3 years and was ready for a bigger model.  I'm proud to tell you that she can ride her 20 incher just great.  She's remarkable as a matter of fact and was thrilled to celebrate her 7 1/2 year old birthday with a new bike.  I LOVED the video of you riding it Keelie, and Callum, you looked AMAZING riding  a big two wheeler bike too! On Saturday night, Keelie was invited to a birthday party at a roller rink.  Charlie and Callum went too and had a ball. I'm so glad you didn't get my skating talent Carmichael Thiots.
Our L.A. Thiots
Pierce sent us a picture of his family watching General Conference.  I loved seeing everyone cozied up together listening to the words of our Prophets and leaders.  Oh how I love General Conference. I'm delighted that my kids do too and that they are teaching their families to love it and look forward to it as well. When Elder Larry Lawrence spoke and quoted  “I have learned that where there is a prayerful heart, a hungering after righteousness, a forsaking of sins, and obedience to the commandments of God, the Lord pours out more and more light until there is finally power to pierce the heavenly veil and to know more than man knows. A person of such righteousness has the priceless promise that one day he shall see the Lord’s face and know that he is.” (“Give the Lord Your Loyalty,” Ensign, Mar. 1980, p. 4.)  I LOVED that quote as I love President Kimball and I LOVED hearing Pierce's name in it.

Stacy and Adelaide went to Disney Land this week and had fun passing out some of Stacy's darling bracelets.
Our Dallas Thiots
It's the Great State Fair of Texas and Sky and Kara went on Thursday.  Thursday has some sweet deals at the food booths.  They tried some yummy things and had a fun quick trip to the fair. They wanted to listen to General Conference in their own home on Saturday.  When Sky was just a little boy, I remember us getting ready for Conference, also known as cleaning up our home, and Skyler said we had to have a clean home as the Prophet was coming to our house.  It was true, the Prophet does come to our house even though he is in the television or on the internet, it's wonderful to have him come to our house.  I'll never forget that Skyler.  You were right on even as a tiny little boy.

Kara's talented sister Lauren is performing in a play this weekend. It's called the Secret Garden.  That is one of my all time favorite books.  I can't wait to read it with  my granddaughters sometime.  Sky and Kara got to go last night to see it.  Well done Lauren!
I love my notebook Tatia made me, sooo fun

We Plano Thiots
Early in the week, Tatia send me pictures of a darling project she made for her visiting teaching ladies.  She had made notebooks for them to take notes for General Conference.  I LOVED them and was wishing I could make them for the girls who I visit.  I called Cousin Pammy who is a wizard at her vinyl cutting machine and made an appointment for a lesson.  Wednesday morning she cut out the names and taught me how to put them onto the notebooks.  Oh my goodness, it was so fun and they turned out great.  Thank you Tatia for the fun idea, Thank you Pammy for helping me make them.

One of my favorite days of the week is Wednesday.  This week when I went to Mansfield to pick up the girls from school, we decided to stay and play and wait for Brooklyn who was staying for the Reid Runners, an afterschool running team at the elementary.  Harper and Addison and I stayed and played on the swings, and then when it was too hot to enjoy it any more, we headed to Sonic for a Happy Hour slushy.  Yummy.  When we picked up Brooklyn we stayed a played a little longer and learned about a new game called Dog catcher.  Who would have thought we could have so  much fun playing that game. Here are the rules in case you want to play.  Select two players to be the dog catchers.  They will think it an honor to be selected, then the rest of you become dogs and run to keep away from the dog catcher.  It was fun.  When we got home and Ricky and Becky left for a dinner date we had  Pre-Halloween try on our costume party.  Oh my goodness, those girls are so cute and are going to be darling on Halloween.  Thanks for the fun day girls.
Dick was in Salt Lake this week and got so spend a little time with my Dad who had surgery on his nose this week.  The surgeon removed some basil cell cancer on him and did a skin graft.  The doctor told my dad that he was his "Dream Patient"  He didn't even flinch when they poked his nose with a giant needle to numb it up and then cut out the bad parts.  Dad hasn't taken even a tylenol.  He's a tough guy.
My uncle Mike, Ida's daughter, LaDawn, Aunt Darlene, Aunt Jerry, Aunt Ida and Aunt Bonnie
On Thursday of this week, something wonderful happened in Preston, Idaho.  My mom's siblings drove up to Preston to visit with their Dad's last living sibling.  Aunt Ida who is 95 years old.  She is amazing and I have loved our recent connection.  It was sure fun on Friday when she called me to tell me all about her guests and how much she loved having them there for a visit and lunch.  That sure made me smile.  When I saw this picture, I could hear my mom laughing and saying that Mike looks like he might be her half brother, but he is her WHOLE brother.  he he he
The Temple was lovely on Friday morning and I always look forward to my lunch date with Skyler after the temple.  Thanks Skyler for being my date.

Friday night was the wedding for my brother Jeffrey's sweet wife Jen's daughter Lauren.  It was held at Wheeler Farm and the reports I have gotten, it simply could not have been nicer.  Lauren married her sweet heart Taylor and it was a beautiful evening and the dancing was so fun.  Lauren, unbeknownst to Taylor, had recorded one of their favorite songs, with her singing it, and the disc jockey played it for their first dance together.  What a sweet and tender moment that was for them and for everyone there. I was delighted when Jen sent me a copy of the recording so I could hear it too.  What a beatiful voice Heavenly Father blessed Lauren with.  That girl can SING!
Libbie Jane Cline, my darling great niece
Conference was wonderful Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon we had a fun surprise.  My sister Laurie's oldest Granddaughter sang in the afternoon session of General Conference with a group of Primary Children from Riverton, Utah.  They sounded like angels and were so well behaved. Libbie was on the back row on the right hand side wearing a light blue shirt.  I LOVED getting to see her.

I think that was everything I wanted to remember about this week.  It's been wonderful having Conference and I'm so glad that we have two sessions today as well. It was marvelous to witness the calls of our three new special witnesses of Jesus Christ.  Elder Rasband, Elder Stevensen and Elder Renlund. I loved getting to hear them speak and feel of their strong testimonies.

Oh my, there is one more wonderful thing happening today.  The Home Owners Association is having the election for the new officers this afternoon.  Remember last year when I WON the office of Membership Chairman?  It's been somewhat fun and somewhat busy and somewhat enjoyable, but No, I'm not sad my year is over.  I've got to pack up my box, update my files and pass it on to who ever is elected today.  Hip Hip Hooray!  Have a great week and enjoy conference today.  SLY Robynn

Happy Happy Birthday Charlie!

Thirty Three years ago today, Charlie Jay was born into our family.  We had originally selected the name Pierce for our second little boy, but when he arrived, we knew he wasn't Pierce, we could tell from the first second we met, that he was indeed Charlie.  Every day of  these thirty three years he has blessed our lives.  You have taught me much Char and I love you for that.  I hope you have an extra nice day!  You truly are a shinning star!
