Ricky's friend since he was in 5th grade came to Dallas for few days this week.  Blake is adventurous like Ricky and they both love the wake board park in Waco.  They've made a few trips there this week and had lots of fun.  I'm glad to report they didn't injure or break anything.  Blake heads back to Salt Lake this afternoon.  Blake has an awesome job working for The CHurch of Jesus CHrist of Latter Day Saints.  He works security and gets to help protect our sacred buildings and leaders.  We love you Blake.  Ricky's girls are loving being at Nana and Papa's house.  We are glad they are having a good time but are sure missing them. Tomorrow will be Addison's sixth Birthday!  Happy Birthday sweet girl!!!

Jake started his third year of residency this week.  It's going to be an extra busy year.  Tatia said that they have a high pressure month and then next one is a little less.  He is currently in one of the high pressure time periods.  They didn't see much of him this week but this morning was the exception.  He is home and instead of sleeping in, he woke up early to build a temple out of duplos with two of his favorite people on the planet.  I LOVE Moroni on top and Penny and Maxwell out front.  Well done you three.  While the temple construction was going on down stairs, Tatia and Oscar were working on her new church calling as Primary Secretary.  She made the cutest bracelets to remind the primary children of their upcoming assignments to pray or speak.  So cute T!

I love this picture of Charlie, Callum and Keelie they took at the Salt Flats on their way home from our Family reunion.  You guys know how to take a fun selfie.  Love it!

Yesterday was Pierce's 29th Birthday.  Happy Birthday Pierce! It was also their Moving into their home day which is not always the funnest way to spend a birthday, but Stacy made it fun by scooping him up for a birthday date last night.  She had arranged for a sitter and after all there hard work they had a fun evening.  I was so grateful for the friends who came and helped them get everything moved.  They had been working on packing and moving a little bit at a time all week, but Saturday when 12 good strong men showed up, it happened much quicker.  If you live far from family, friends are the best!

When I picked up Sky for our friday lunch date, he asked if he could drive and if we could go on a little adventure.  I had to smile as that is what I always called running errands with the kids when they were young.  we went and pickup up his passport and visa for an upcoming quick trip to China and and Kara are planning.  Friday marked the one year date of my sweet mom's passing.  In an effort to make a sad day a little more joyful, my sweet niece Krista suggested that we make it a day of service to  remember gram.  She was always doing things for others and we couldn't think of a nicer way to remember her than by doing just what she has taught us.  Sky and Kara were able to help a member of their ward get packed and moved on Friday night and then Sky after that headed to the airport to pick up Dick who's flight had been delayed with the weather and sent to Austin instead of Dallas.  I was sure grateful as it had been a very early morning for me.  Thanks for doubly serving Sky!

Tatia shared this picture with me on Friday.  She had showed it to Penny of her and Gram and Penny thought it was me and her.  I think I may need to look into going blond like mom did.  he he he.
Dick worked in Salt Lake this week and I had a dentist appointment on Tuesday that knocked me for a loop.  It's been a week I've been glad to have behind me.  I've loved hearing about all your service my sweet family offered on friday.  Sure love ya'll,  Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiots
On June 10th, Becky, Brooklyn, Addison and Harper left for five weeks at Nana and Papa's house. Becky said the girls were amazing on the flight to Oakland. They are getting big enough to be really good travelers.  They were so excited to go and have been having a really good time.  We sure missed them at our BIRKS Family Reunion last week.  It was good to have Ricky there representing his family and I think he had a good time catching up with cousins and siblings too, while missing his girls.

Tatia's kids proved to be amazing travelers too when she traveled to Salt Lake with three little ones alone.  I was so glad she was brave enough to attempt just a feat and so grateful she had Jake there to travel home with them.  We had a really good time. One of my favorite parts was being able to be there when Jake blessed our sweet Baby Oscar Henry Grange.  What a beautiful blessing he gave him.  I was so glad my dad, Dick, Ricky, Charlie and Uncle Bud could be there to stand in with Jake. We missed having Pierce and Skyler, but we know they were there in spirit.  Tatia and Jake spent some time with Jake's sister and her family on Monday before coming home on Tuesday.  They got to show their kids the BYU campus and the table in the library where Jake asked Tatia out for their first date and other wonderful places filled with fun memories.  On Monday night, the airline called telling them their flight home had been cancelled.  Jake worked his magic and got them on another one Tuesday and it all worked out I'm happy to report.  WHEW!

Charlie, Keelie and Callum made the big drive to Salt Lake on Thursday the 11th.  They arrived just in time to jump into their family reunion shirts and head to Flat Iron Mesa Park for our first event.  It was dinner and Rocket Launching.  My dad had been to an activity last summer where they made and launched paper rockets.  Dad contacted the Merrills who had been in charge and they agreed to share their expertise and equipment with dad for our reunion.  The kids and the grown up  kids loved it.  It was really fun and it made for a very fun evening together.  Thanks Dad! I loved getting to spend time with Keelie and it was great to see Callum in his Cast.  He got a LOT of signatures on that orange cast, and I'm happy to report it is off. On Thursday Mackenzie took him to the doctor and they sawed it off.  Horray!  So glad Heavenly Father made our bodies to heal.
Our L.A. Thiots
Pierce, Stacy and Adelaide arrived on Thursday afternoon just ahead of Charlie's family.  It was so fun to see them and I LOVED getting to see our sweet Adelaide.  She is such a dear and she celebrated her second birthday this week on the 18th.  They had a Pixie and Pirate Party on Saturday and she loved being Tinkerbelle.  I'm guessing she may have been the cutest little tink ever.  Stacy found a gal who could sew her an amazing costume for Adelaide to wear and twirl and twirl. Stacy said the party was lots of work but lots of fun too.  As soon as the party was cleaned up, they started packing up for their move.  The home owner told them they could start moving some things in before July 1st and they  are doing just that.  Dick flew into LA on Wednesday to go to the LA Dodgers vs the Texas Ranger Baseball game with Pierce's family.  He had a great time at the game and being with our LA Thiots.  The airlines and the weather were not as cooperative as he'd hoped but it all worked out and no worries, that man can work away at the airport too.

Sky and Kara were not able to attend our reunion last week.  Sky had a photo shoot for work which he was heading up and had to be in town for all the preparations before.  We missed them but they were cute enough to send us a video for the family talent show, almost as fun as having them there with us, but not quite.  Ricky's girls also sent a video which made them seem not so far away either.  Kara's sister Lauren has been in The Music Man, a play at the Artisan Theatre in town.  Dick and I are hoping to score some tickets and go see her.  She has an amazing voice and I'm sure is great in the play.

It's been several weeks since Our Thiot Times has been written and published.  When I got home from the reunion on Monday, I thought I could just catch up but didn't do it yet.  I think I will just carry on from here.  The Three Amigos we had staying with us went home on June 5th.  Our two weeks of having them with us were longer than we had expected.  It was good to be able to help their family but it was not easy or all fun and games.  They so wanted to be home and we tried hard to keep them busy.  We visited many of the Plano Libraries and once it stopped raining, we found many fun play grounds and parks in Plano.  We ate a lot of chicken nuggets and tested out play grounds at McDonalds and Chick Fil A.  Our home is sure quiet and lonesome with those little people gone, but I am so glad they are home with their mom.  They missed her so much.  You just can't take the place of Mom.
Dick has been playing catch up all week.  One of the good parts of our reunion was the fact that their was no internet or cell phone coverage at the Heber Valley Girls Camp, but that didn't allow Dick to work which was good as he needed a break but bad as he had things to do.  He has not been feeling well and went to the doc yesterday and came home with a pile of medicine.  Hopefully, he will be feeling better soon.
Back to the title of this post, Happy Father's Day!  It was sure fun to spend a week with my great Father last week. When I arrived he said he wanted to replant Mom's African Violets.  They had not survived the almost year without her.  We called around trying to find some and finally just hopped in the car and drove to Lowes where they had 3 perfect pink ones.  We bought them and brought them home and planted them.  I'm sure mom was smiling.  Dad was kind of in his glory surrounded by all his kids and most of his grandchildren and many many of his great grandchildren.  We counted there were only 11 missing of the possible 65.  We enjoyed everyone who came and missed those who couldn't be there.  My dad's brother Bud is in town for another week along with his sister June.  That makes all Six of the living BIRKS kids in the same town together. Jay, my dad, Aunt Marie, Uncle Boyd, Aunt June, Uncle Bud, Aunt Ila Fae.  They have plans this week to attend the Salt Lake Temple where Aunt June will be sealed to her husband Neil and they will be able to do some other Family Sealings together.  What a thrill that will be for them. Happy Fathers Day Dad and Dick, and Ricky, and Jake and Charlie and Pierce and Sky!  You are all great dads and Sky, I know you will be too.  Have a great week ya'll. SLY Robynn
PS, My sister Laurie blogged about the reunion on her blog, take a peek if you would like to. http://clinescorner.blogspot.com
